Getting Started
Always follow the instructions in this chapter in the correct order.
Charging the Built-in Battery
The portable radio is powered by a built-in battery.
Note: A low battery icon appears when the battery level is low. Please charge the battery as soon as possible.
Connect the Type-C port on the portable radio to an output (5 V = 2 A) using the supplied Type-C cable.

When the portable radio is charging, a charging icon is displayed. When the portable radio is fully charged, a full battery icon is displayed.
Note: Please note that the device has a built-in lithium battery. The capacity of lithium batteries decreases over time due to self-discharge. To ensure a long lifespan for the batteries in the device, it is recommended to charge the built-in lithium battery to approximately 50% every six months if the device is not in use.
Powering On/Off or Switching to Standby Mode
- To turn on the device, press the button. The radio will switch to the last selected audio source.
- Press the button to switch the device to standby mode. The clock will be displayed (if set).
Note: If no Bluetooth device is connected for more than 15 minutes, or if a device is connected but not playing anything, the radio will automatically switch to standby mode. To turn off the device completely, press and hold the
button for three seconds in any mode. The display will turn off.Volume Adjustment
While listening to the device, you can adjust the volume by turning the rotary knob.
Adjusting Display Brightness
You can set different brightness levels or turn off the display.
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Display] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Backlight level] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the display brightness level (High, Medium, Low), then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to exit the menu.
Menu Display in Standby Mode
You can access menu items to set various options even when the device is in standby mode.
- In standby mode, press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the button to select a menu item, then press the button to confirm the menu setting or enter a sub-menu.
- Repeat step 2 if sub-menus are available under a menu item.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Menu Structure Overview:
- [Display]: Adjust backlight/brightness/timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn alarms 1 or 2 on/off and set alarms.
- [Clock]: Synchronize clock, set date and time, select time and date format.
- [System]: Modify system settings.

Clock Settings
Automatic Clock Setting
The device can automatically synchronize with the time broadcast by FM RDS stations that provide (CT) information.
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Clock] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Set auto/manual] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the button to select the [Auto (RDS)] option, then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Manual Clock Setting
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Clock] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the button to select the [Set date&time] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the hours, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the minutes, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the month, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the day, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the year, then press the button to confirm. The clock is now set.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Setting the Time Format
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Clock] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the button to select the [Set 12H/24H] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select either [12H] or [24H], then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Setting the Date Format
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Clock] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the button to select the [Set date format] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the date format: [MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD], then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Clock Style
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Clock] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Clock style] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital] display, then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Alarm Settings
Setting the Alarm Time
Note: Ensure the clock is set correctly.
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Alarm] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select either [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Wake up time] option, then press the button to confirm. The hour digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to set the hours, then press the button to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to set the minutes, then press the button to confirm.
- When setting the alarm period to [Once], set the alarm date using the buttons, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Frequency] setting, then press the button to confirm. The alarm repetition cycle setting will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the repetition cycle (Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekends), then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Source] setting, then press the button to confirm. The audio source set for the alarm will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the desired audio source for the alarm (BUZZER or FM radio station), then press the button to confirm.
- If [FM] is selected as the audio source for the alarm (default is BUZZER), an additional [Source] setting will appear in the alarm menu. Select the preset FM radio station number using the and buttons.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item. The appropriate alarm icon will appear.
Tips:
- If no operation is performed for 30 seconds, the device will exit the alarm setting mode.
- If FM is set but no preset station is selected, the BUZZER setting will be activated automatically.
- If there is no user interaction, the alarm will stop after 60 minutes.
Turning Alarms On/Off
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Alarm] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select either [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [On] or [Off], then press the button to turn the alarm on or off.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item. The alarm icon will appear when the alarm is turned on, and disappear when it is turned off.
Snooze
- When the alarm sounds, press the button. The alarm will be paused and enter snooze mode. Pressing the button will stop the alarm sound. The alarm will stop, but the alarm settings will remain unchanged.
- During snooze mode, pressing the button allows you to select a different snooze interval (in minutes) before the device sounds again.
- Pressing and holding the or button for three seconds during snooze mode will cancel the snooze function. The alarm will stop.
Setting the Sleep Timer
The portable radio will automatically switch to standby mode when the sleep timer expires.
- Turn on the device.
- Press the button to select the sleep timer duration. Pressing and holding the button allows you to cycle through different sleep timer durations (Off, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes).
- To turn off the sleep timer: Repeat the above steps.
FM Radio Listening
Note:
- To avoid radio wave interference, keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices.
- For optimal reception, fully extend and position the FM antenna.
Automatic Tuning
- Press the button to turn on the device.
- Press the button to select FM mode.
- Press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The device will automatically tune to a strong radio station.
Manual Tuning
Use the
buttons to select a frequency to manually tune to a radio station.Note: The tuning step for the portable radio is 50 kHz. Pressing the
buttons increases or decreases the displayed radio frequency in 0.05 MHz steps.Automatic Scanning and Storing of FM Radio Stations
Note: Up to 20 FM radio stations can be stored on the device.
In FM radio mode, press and hold the
button for three seconds. The display will show "Auto Scanning...". The radio will automatically search for and store all available FM radio stations, then start broadcasting the first available station.Manual Storing of FM Radio Stations
- Tune to an FM radio station in FM radio mode.
- Press and hold the button for three seconds to activate programming mode. The list of preset stations will appear on the screen.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the desired preset number.
- Press the button to store the preset radio station.
- To store additional FM radio stations, repeat steps 1-4.
Tip: If the number of preset stations exceeds 20, to delete a stored station, store another station in its place.
Storing and Selecting Favorite Radio Stations
Note: You can also store your favorite radio stations using the direct buttons 1 and 2.
- Tune to an FM radio station in FM radio mode.
- To directly save the current station to position 1 or 2, press and hold the 1 or 2 button (preset station number) for three seconds. The display will show "Preset 1 or 2 stored". The preset station number and frequency will be displayed.
- In FM radio mode, press button 1 or 2 to directly select preset station 1 or 2.
Selecting a Preset Radio Station
- In FM radio mode, press the button.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select a preset radio station.
Note: Confirming the preset radio station occurs automatically after three seconds.
Setting Scan Sensitivity
- Press the button to open the FM menu.
- Press the button to enter the [Scan setting] menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [Strong] (for high signal strength stations only) or [All] (all stations), then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to exit the menu.
Displaying RDS Information
RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM radio stations to display additional information.
- Tune to an FM RDS station.
- Press and hold the button for three seconds to display the following information (if available): Station name; Program type (e.g., [NEWS], [SPORT], [POP M]); Time; Text; Frequency.
Menu Display in FM Mode
You can access menu items to set various options while listening to FM radio stations.
- Press the button to open the FM menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select a menu item, then press the button to confirm the menu setting or enter a sub-menu.
- Repeat step 2 if sub-menus are available under a menu item.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Note: If no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the device will exit the menu.
Listening via Bluetooth®
Note:
- The range between the device and the Bluetooth® device is approximately 25 meters (in open space).
- Compatibility with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed.
- Any obstacle between the device and the Bluetooth® device can reduce the range.
- Keep devices away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- If your device goes out of range, the connection to the device will be interrupted.
Connecting via Bluetooth®
- Press the button to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "Not Connected".
- On your Bluetooth device, turn on the Bluetooth function, search for, and select the [Philips TAV2000FB] device to connect.
- Upon successful connection: You will hear a confirmation sound. The display will show "Connected".
Disconnecting Bluetooth® Connection
- Switch to another audio source on the device;
- Turn off the Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth device.
Alternatively, press and hold the
button for three seconds to disconnect the Bluetooth connection. Upon successful disconnection: You will hear a confirmation sound. The display will show "Pairing".Clearing Bluetooth® Pairing Information
- Press the button to open the Bluetooth menu.
- Press the button to select the [Bluetooth pair] option.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [Yes] (to disconnect Bluetooth® and enter pairing mode), then press the button to confirm.
Alternatively, press the
button to open the Bluetooth menu. Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [Bluetooth clean] option, then press the button to confirm. Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [Yes] to disconnect the current connection or [No] to keep the connection, then press the button to confirm. Press the button to exit the menu. The display will show "Pairing".Music Playback
While playing music on your Bluetooth® device, you can control the playback from this device.
- Press the button to pause/resume playback.
- Use the buttons to skip tracks.
- Adjust the volume by turning the rotary knob.
Menu Display in Bluetooth® Mode
You can access menu items to set various options while playing music via Bluetooth® connection.
- Press the button to open the Bluetooth® menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the button to select a menu item, then press the button to confirm the menu setting or enter a sub-menu.
- Repeat step 2 if sub-menus are available under a menu item.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Note: If no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the device will exit the menu.
- [Bluetooth pair]: Disconnect Bluetooth connection and enter pairing mode.
- [Bluetooth clean]: Delete Bluetooth pairing data.
- [Kitchen timer]: Set kitchen timer.
- [Sleep timer]: Set sleep timer.
- [Display]: Adjust backlight/brightness/timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn alarms on/off and set alarms.
- [Clock]: Synchronize clock, set date and time, select time and date format.
- [System]: Modify system settings.
Kitchen Timer

Setting the Kitchen Timer
- Press the button to turn on the device.
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Kitchen timer] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Kitchen timer setup] option, then press the button to confirm.
- Alternatively, press and hold the button to open the kitchen timer settings. The hour digits will start flashing.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to set the hours, then press the button to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to set the minutes, then press the button to confirm. The second digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to set the seconds, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [On/Off] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [On] (to turn on) or [Off] (to turn off), then press the button to confirm. The timer icon will appear.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Note: The kitchen timer will stop after 60 minutes if there is no user interaction. The kitchen timer can only be cleared when the device is turned on.
Stopping the Kitchen Timer Sound
When the kitchen timer sounds, press any button to stop the sound.
Clearing the Kitchen Timer
- To clear the kitchen timer, access the menu by pressing the button.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Kitchen timer] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [On/Off] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Off] setting, then press the button to confirm.
- Press the button to exit the menu.

Selecting Menu Language
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [System] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Language] setting, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the menu language, then press the button to confirm. Available languages: English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski.
- Press the button to return to the previous menu item.
Listening via Headphones
Connect headphones to the jack located on the back of the device.
Restoring Factory Settings
- Press the button to open the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [System] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select the [Factory reset] menu, then press the button to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press the buttons to select [Yes] (to restore the radio to factory settings), then press the button to confirm. The display will show "Restarting...".

Troubleshooting
Attention: Never remove the product cover. To preserve warranty validity, never attempt to repair the device yourself. If you experience problems while using the device, check the following before contacting service. If the problem cannot be resolved, visit the Philips website (www.philips.com/support). When contacting Philips customer service, have the device nearby, which displays the model number and serial number.
Device Not Working
- Check if the portable radio is fully charged.
- Check if the portable radio's USB connector is properly connected.
No Sound
- Adjust the volume of the portable radio.
- Adjust the volume on the connected device.
- Check if your Bluetooth device is within operating range.
Device Not Responding
- Restart the portable radio.
Poor Radio Reception
- To avoid radio wave interference, keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices.
- Extend and position the antenna fully.
Alarm Not Working
- Set the clock/alarm correctly.
Clock/Alarm Settings Deleted
- Reset the clock/alarm.
- Replace the backup batteries.
Poor Sound Quality After Connecting to a Bluetooth-Compatible Device
- Weak Bluetooth reception. Move the device closer to the speaker or remove obstacles between them.
[Philips TAV2000FB] Not Found on Bluetooth Device for Pairing
- Press and hold the button for three seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode, then try again.
Failed to Connect to Bluetooth Device
- The device's Bluetooth function is not turned on. Refer to the device's user manual for instructions on enabling the function.
- The portable radio is not in pairing mode.
- The portable radio is already connected to another Bluetooth-compatible device.
- Disconnect the device and try again.
Battery Cannot Be Charged Properly or Drains Too Quickly
- Replace the battery.
- Open the battery cover on the back of the device and remove the original battery from the battery compartment.
- Insert a battery of the same type (not included).
- Close the battery cover.
