Important Safety Information

Please read these instructions. Heed all warnings. Follow all instructions. Do not cover any ventilation openings. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type. Replacing the battery with an incorrect type carries an explosion risk. Do not replace the battery with an incorrect type that could compromise a safeguard (e.g., in the case of certain types of lithium batteries). Insert all batteries correctly. Leaving a battery in an environment with extremely high temperatures or low air pressure may lead to an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas. Batteries contain chemicals and must be disposed of properly. If you suspect a battery has been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention. When replacing batteries, always keep new and used batteries away from children. After replacing the battery, ensure the battery compartment is securely closed. If the battery compartment cannot be secured, discontinue use. Keep away from children and contact the manufacturer. Do not expose the product to dripping or splashing water. To prevent fire hazard, the device is powered only by an external power supply whose output corresponds to PS1 (with an output capacity of less than 15 W). The power supplied by the charging device must be between a minimum of 5 watts required by the radio device and a maximum of 15 watts necessary to achieve maximum charging speed.

Getting Started

Charging the Built-in Battery

The portable radio is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery.

Note: When the battery is low, a battery icon will appear. Charge the built-in battery as soon as possible.

Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the portable radio and to a power socket (5V = 2A).

Note: The device contains built-in lithium batteries. Due to self-discharge, the charging capacity of lithium batteries decreases over time. For optimal battery life, it is recommended to charge the built-in battery to approximately 50% every 6 months if the device is not in use.

Turning On/Off or Switching to Standby Mode

Note: If no Bluetooth device is connected for 15 minutes, or if connected but not playing, the radio will automatically switch to standby mode. Press and hold the [Power Button] for three seconds to turn off the device directly in any mode. The display will turn off.

Adjusting Volume

Adjust the volume by turning the knob while listening.

Adjusting Display Brightness

You can select different brightness levels or turn off the display.

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Display], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Backlight level], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the desired brightness level (High, Medium, or Low) on the display, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to exit the menu.

Displaying the Menu in Standby Mode

When the device is in standby mode, you can open the menu to view control options.

  1. In standby mode, press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select a menu option, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm or open a sub-menu.
    • [Display]: For adjusting backlight, dim level, or timeout.
    • [Alarm]: To turn on/off and set alarms 1 or 2.
    • [Clock]: For setting time synchronization, date/time, time format, and date format.
    • [System]: For system settings.
  3. If a sub-option is available, repeat step 2.
  4. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Automatic Clock Setting

If an RDS FM station is tuned, the device may automatically synchronize the time broadcast by the RDS FM station (with CT information).

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Set auto/manual], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Auto(RDS)], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Manual Clock Setting

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Set date&time], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the hour, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The minutes will flash.
  5. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the minutes, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  6. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the month, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  7. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the day, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  8. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the year, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  9. The time is now set.
  10. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Setting Time Format

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Set 12H/24H], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [12H] or [24H], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Setting Date Format

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Set date format], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the date format [MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Clock Style

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Clock style], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Setting the Alarm

Setting Alarm Time

Note: Ensure the clock is set correctly.

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Alarm], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the [Wake up time], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The hours will flash.
  5. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the hour, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The minutes will flash.
  6. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the minutes, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  7. If [Once] is selected for alarm repeat, use [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] and [SELECT Button] to set the alarm date.
  8. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Frequency], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The alarm repeat cycle will flash.
  9. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the alarm repeat cycle (Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekend), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  10. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Source], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The alarm source will flash.
  11. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the alarm source (BUZZER or FM station), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.

If [FM] is selected as the alarm source, an additional [Source] option will appear in the alarm menu. Use [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] and [SELECT Button] to choose the preset FM station number.

The corresponding alarm icon [?] will be displayed.

Tip: The device will exit the alarm setting mode after 30 seconds of inactivity. If FM is selected as the source but no station is chosen, the BUZZER source will activate automatically. The alarm timeout is 60 minutes if no user action occurs.

Activating/Deactivating Alarm Timer

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Alarm], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [On] or [Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm activation or deactivation.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

If an alarm timer is activated, the alarm icon [?] will be displayed. If deactivated, the icon will disappear.

Snooze/Stop Alarm

Snooze Alarm

When the alarm rings, press the [Snooze Button]. The alarm will be snoozed for 10 minutes (default is 10 minutes).

During the snooze period, press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select a different snooze duration (in minutes).

Stopping Alarm Sound

When the alarm sounds, press the [Snooze Button] to pause the alarm and enter snooze mode, or press the [Stop Button] to stop the alarm sound. The alarm will stop, but the alarm settings will be retained.

Setting the Sleep Timer

This portable radio can automatically switch to standby mode after a set sleep time.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press the [Snooze Button] to select the sleep time.

Press and hold the [Snooze Button] to cycle through the available sleep times.

Deactivating Sleep Timer: Repeat the steps above and set the sleep timer to Off.

Listening to FM Radio

Note: Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to prevent radio interference. Extend the FM antenna fully and adjust its position for optimal reception.

Automatic Tuning

  1. Turn on the device by pressing the [Power Button].
  2. Press the [Source Button] to select FM mode.
  3. Press and hold the [SCAN Button] for 3 seconds. The radio will automatically tune to the strongest signal station.

Manual Tuning

To tune manually, press the [Tuning Button] to select the frequency. The FM frequency on the display will increase by 0.05 MHz with each press of [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►].

Automatic FM Station Search and Storage

Note: Up to 20 FM stations can be stored.

In FM tuner mode, press and hold the [SCAN Button] for three seconds. The display will show [Auto Scanning...]. The radio will automatically search and store all FM stations, then play the first available station.

Manual FM Station Storage

  1. In FM tuner mode, tune to an FM station.
  2. Press and hold the [Favorite Station Button 1 or 2] for three seconds to activate programming mode. The preset list will appear.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the preset number.
  4. Press [SELECT Button] to store the preset station.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 to store more FM stations.

Tip: If you want to remove a preset station and have more than 20 presets, replace it with another station.

Storing and Selecting Favorite Stations

Note: Favorite stations can be stored as direct access buttons 1 and 2.

  1. In FM tuner mode, tune to an FM station.
  2. Press and hold button 1 or 2 for three seconds to store the current station to that position. [Preset 1 or 2 stored] will appear. The preset number and frequency will be displayed.
  3. In FM tuner mode, press button 1 or 2 to directly select the preset station.

Selecting a Preset Station

  1. In FM tuner mode, press the [Favorite Station Button].
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the preset FM station.

Note: After three seconds, the preset station will be confirmed automatically.

Adjusting Tuning Sensitivity

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the FM menu.
  2. Press [SELECT Button] to open the [Scan setting] option.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Strong] (for strong signal stations only) or [All] (for all stations), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu Button] to exit the menu.

Displaying RDS Information

RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that displays additional information about FM stations.

  1. Tune to an RDS FM station.
  2. Press and hold the [Menu Button] for three seconds to display the following information (if available): Station Name, Program Type (e.g., [NEWS], [SPORT], [POP M]), Time, Text, Frequency.

Displaying the Menu in FM Mode

While listening to FM broadcasts, you can open the menu to view control options.

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the FM menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select a menu option, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm or open a sub-menu. Options include:
    • [Scan setting]: To select tuning sensitivity (strong signal or all stations).
    • [Kitchen timer]: To set the kitchen timer.
    • [Sleep timer]: To set the sleep timer.
    • [Display]: To adjust backlight, dim level, or timeout.
    • [Alarm]: To turn on/off and set alarms.
    • [Clock]: To set time synchronization, date/time, time format, and date format.
    • [System]: For system settings.
  3. If a sub-option is available, repeat step 2.
  4. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Note: The menu will exit if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Listening to Bluetooth® Music

Note: Operating range is approximately 25 meters (82 feet) in open space. Compatibility with all Bluetooth devices is not guaranteed. Obstacles may reduce range. Keep away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. The device will disconnect if it moves out of range.

Connecting Bluetooth®

  1. Press the [Source Button] to select Bluetooth mode. [Not Connected] will be displayed.
  2. On your Bluetooth device, turn on Bluetooth and pair by searching for and selecting [Philips TAV2000FB].
  3. Upon successful connection: You will hear an audible alert. [Connected] will be displayed.

Disconnecting Bluetooth®

To disconnect and go to pairing mode:

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Press [SELECT Button] to select [Bluetooth pair].
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Yes] to disconnect and go to pairing mode, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. [Pairing] will be displayed.

Deleting Bluetooth® Pairing Records

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Bluetooth clean], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Yes] to disconnect the current connection, or [No] to keep the connection, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu Button] to exit the menu.

Playing Music

You can use this device to control music playback from your Bluetooth device.

Displaying the Menu in Bluetooth Mode

While listening via Bluetooth, you can open the menu to view control options.

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select a menu option, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm or open a sub-menu. Options include:
    • [Bluetooth pair]: To disconnect Bluetooth and go to pairing mode.
    • [Bluetooth clean]: To erase Bluetooth pairing records.
    • [Kitchen timer]: To set the kitchen timer.
    • [Sleep timer]: To set the sleep timer.
    • [Display]: To adjust backlight, dim level, or timeout.
    • [Alarm]: To turn on/off and set alarms.
    • [Clock]: To set time synchronization, date/time, time format, and date format.
    • [System]: For system settings.
  3. If a sub-option is available, repeat step 2.
  4. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Note: The menu will exit if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Setting the Kitchen Timer

Note: The device will exit the setting menu after 30 seconds of inactivity.

  1. Turn on the device by pressing the [Power Button].
  2. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Kitchen timer setup], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Alternatively, press and hold the [Snooze Button] to open the kitchen timer menu. The hour digits will flash.
  6. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the hour, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
  7. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the minute, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The second digits will flash.
  8. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to set the second, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  9. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [On/Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  10. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [On] (to activate) or [Off] (to deactivate), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  11. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu. The kitchen timer icon [⏰] will be displayed.

Note: The kitchen timer timeout is 60 minutes if no user action occurs.

Stopping Kitchen Timer Sound

When the kitchen timer sounds, press any button to stop the buzzer.

Canceling the Kitchen Timer

  1. To cancel the kitchen timer, press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [On/Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to exit the menu.

Note: The kitchen timer can only be canceled when the device is on.

Selecting Menu Language

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [System], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Language], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select the desired menu language, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. Available languages include English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski.
  5. Press the [Menu Button] to return to the previous menu.

Listening via Headphones

Connect headphones to the headphone jack on the back of the device.

Resetting to Factory Settings

  1. Press the [Menu Button] to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [System], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Factory reset], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Tuning Knob] or press [Navigation Buttons ◄◄/►►] to select [Yes] (to reset all radio settings to default), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. [Restarting...] will be displayed.
