Safety

  • Never remove the product casing. All servicing must be done by qualified service technicians. Servicing is required when the product has been damaged in any way, such as when the power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product, the product has been exposed to rain or moisture, or the product does not operate normally or has been dropped.
  • A battery (battery pack or battery) must not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or the like.
  • There is a risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly. They must only be replaced with batteries of the same or equivalent type.

  • Batteries contain chemical substances. They must be disposed of properly.
  • If you suspect that a battery has been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
  • When replacing batteries, always keep all new and used batteries out of reach of children. Ensure that the battery compartment is fully secured after replacing the battery.
  • If the battery compartment cannot be fully secured, stop using the product. Keep it out of reach of children and contact the manufacturer.
  • Do not expose the product to dripping or splashing.
  • Do not place any source of danger on the product (e.g., liquid-filled objects, lit candles).
  • Use the product safely in environments where the temperature is between 0 °C and 45 °C.
  • To avoid fire risk, the equipment is supplied only from an external power source whose output complies with PS1 (with an output capacity of less than 15 W).
  • The charger's output must be between a minimum of 5 W, as required by the radio equipment, and a maximum of 15 W to achieve maximum charging speed.

Overview of the Portable Radio

This section describes the controls and indicators of the portable radio.

Front Panel Layout:

The front panel features a display screen, speaker grille, and various control buttons and a rotary dial.

Key Controls and Indicators:

  • 1 & 2 (Preset Buttons): Used to save or directly access preset station 1 or 2.
  • 3 (Menu Navigation): Used to open the menu, view information, return to the previous menu, or exit menu settings.
  • 4 (Volume/Selection Dial): Used to adjust volume or select options within menus. It also serves as a confirmation button for selections.
  • 5 (Source/Pairing Button): Switches between FM and Bluetooth sources, and initiates Bluetooth pairing.
  • 6 (Power/Standby Button): Turns the unit on/off or switches it to standby mode. Also stops alarms.
  • 7 (Preset Programming/Selection): Activates preset programming mode or selects a preset radio station.
  • 8 (Time/Station/Menu Navigation): Used to set the time, tune into a radio station, and navigate through menu lists. Also used for previous music track selection in Bluetooth mode.
  • 9 (Time/Station/Menu Navigation): Used to set the time, tune into a radio station, and navigate through menu lists. Also used for next music track selection in Bluetooth mode.
  • [Display Screen]: Shows information such as time, station frequency, menu options, and playback status.
  • [Speaker Grille]: Houses the audio speaker.
  • [Volume Dial]: A rotary dial for adjusting the volume.

Top/Rear Panel Layout:

  • [Headphone Jack]: Port for connecting headphones.
  • [USB Type-C Port]: For charging the built-in battery.
  • [Battery Compartment Cover]: Located on the back of the unit, provides access to the battery.
  • [FM Antenna]: Extendable antenna for receiving FM radio signals.

Getting Started

Charging the Built-in Battery

This portable radio is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery.

Note: A battery low icon [Battery Low] will appear when the battery level is low. Recharge the built-in battery as soon as possible.

Connect the Type-C port on the portable radio to a power outlet (5V 2A) using the supplied Type-C cable.

When the portable radio is charging, the [Charging] icon is displayed. When the portable radio is fully charged, the [Fully Charged] icon is displayed.

Note: Your device contains built-in lithium batteries. Lithium batteries' charging capacity decreases over time due to their self-discharge characteristics. To ensure the longevity of your device's battery, it is recommended to charge the built-in battery to approximately 50% every 6 months when the device is not in use.

Powering On/Off, or Switching to Standby Mode

  • Press the [Power/Standby] button to turn on the unit. The radio will switch to the last selected source.
  • Press the [Power/Standby] button to switch the unit to Standby mode. The time (if set) will be displayed.

Note: The unit will automatically switch to standby mode if the Bluetooth device is not connected for more than 15 minutes or is connected but not playing. Press and hold the [Power/Standby] button for three seconds in any mode to directly turn off the unit. The screen will turn off.

Adjusting Volume

Turn the [Volume Dial] while listening to adjust the volume.

Adjusting Screen Brightness

You can select different brightness levels or turn off the screen.

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Display], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Backlight level], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the screen brightness level (High, Medium, Low), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to exit the menu.

Navigating Menus in Standby Mode

When the unit is in standby mode, you can open the menu to access control options.

  1. Press the [Menu] button in standby mode to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select a menu option, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm the option or open the lower menu level.
    • [Display]: Adjust backlight, dimming, and timeout settings.
    • [Alarm]: Set alarm on/off and alarm configuration.
    • [Clock]: Set time synchronization, date/time, time format, and date format.
    • [System]: Adjust system settings.
  3. Repeat step 2 if there are sub-options under a selected option.
  4. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Clock Setting

Set Clock Automatically

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Set auto/manual], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Auto(RDS)], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

If tuned to an FM RDS station, the unit can automatically synchronize to the time transmitted by the FM RDS station (with CT information).

Set Clock Manually

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Set date&time], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the hour, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the minute, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  6. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the month, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  7. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the day, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  8. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the year, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The time is now set.
  9. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Set Time Format

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Set 12H/24H], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [12H] or [24H], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Set Date Format

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Set date format], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the date format ([MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD]), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Set Clock Style

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Clock], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Clock style], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Alarm Setting

Set Alarm Time

Note: Ensure that the clock is set correctly.

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Alarm], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Wake up time], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The hour digits will flash.
  5. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to set the hour, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
  6. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to set the minute, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  7. If [Once] is selected for the alarm period, use the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] and [SELECT Button] to set the alarm date.
  8. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Frequency], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The alarm repetition frequency will flash.
  9. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the alarm repetition frequency (Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekend), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  10. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Source], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The alarm source will flash.
  11. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the alarm source (BUZZER or FM station), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  12. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu. The corresponding alarm icon [Alarm Active] will be displayed.

Note: If [FM] is selected as the alarm source (default is BUZZER), the Alarm menu will have an additional option [Source]. Use the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] and [SELECT Button] to select an FM preset station number.

Tip:

  • The unit exits alarm setting mode after 30 seconds of inactivity.
  • If FM is selected as the alarm source, but no preset station is selected, the BUZZER will activate automatically.
  • The alarm timeout is 60 minutes if there is no user interaction.

Activate/Deactivate Alarm Timer

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Alarm], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [On] or [Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm activation or deactivation of the alarm timer.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

If the alarm timer is activated, the [Alarm Active] icon is displayed. If the alarm timer is deactivated, the icon disappears.

Snooze

  1. When the alarm rings, press the [Snooze/Alarm Stop] button. The alarm will be postponed and will ring again 10 minutes later (default is 10 minutes).
  2. During the snooze period, press the [Snooze/Alarm Stop] button to select a different snooze duration (in minutes) for the alarm to ring again. (Options: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 minutes)
  3. During the snooze period, press and hold the [Snooze/Alarm Stop] button for three seconds to cancel the snooze. The alarm will stop.

Stop Alarm Sounds

When the alarm sounds, press the [Snooze/Alarm Stop] button to temporarily stop the alarm sound and activate snooze mode, or press the [Power/Standby] button to stop the alarm sound. The alarm will stop, but the alarm settings will remain.

Set Sleep Timer

This portable radio can automatically switch to standby mode when the sleep timer is set.

  1. Turn on the unit.
  2. Press the [Menu] button to select the sleep timer duration. Press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] continuously to cycle through the sleep timer duration options. (Options: Off, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes)

To deactivate the sleep timer: Repeat the above steps and set the sleep timer to Off.

Listening to FM Radio

Note:

  • Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid radio interference.
  • For optimal reception, fully extend the FM antenna and adjust its position.

Automatic Tuning

  1. Press the [Power/Standby] button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the [Source] button to select the FM mode.
  3. Press and hold the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] for 3 seconds. The portable radio will automatically tune to a station with strong reception.

Manual Tuning

Press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select a frequency and manually tune into a station.

Note: The portable radio's tuning grid is 50 KHz. The radio frequency on the display panel increases in 0.05 MHz steps by pressing the [Previous Button]/[Next Button].

Scan and Save FM Radio Stations Automatically

Note: You can save up to 20 FM radio stations.

In FM tuner mode, press and hold the [SCAN Button] for three seconds. [Auto Scanning...] will be displayed. The radio will scan and save all FM stations automatically, then play the first available station.

Save FM Radio Stations Manually

  1. In FM tuner mode, tune into an FM radio station.
  2. Press and hold the [Preset Button] (1 or 2) for three seconds to activate programming mode. The preset list will be displayed on the screen.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the preset number.
  4. Press [SELECT Button] to save the preset station.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 to save more FM radio stations.

Tip: To remove a preset station, save another station in its place if the number of presets exceeds 20.

Save and Select Favorite Stations

Note: You can save your favorite stations directly using the 1 and 2 buttons.

  1. In FM tuner mode, tune into an FM radio station.
  2. Press and hold the 1 or 2 button (preset number) for three seconds to directly save the current station to the corresponding position. [Preset 1 or 2 stored] will be displayed. The preset number and station frequency will be shown.
  3. In FM tuner mode, press 1 or 2 to directly select a preset radio station (1 or 2).

Select a Preset Radio Station

  1. Press the [Preset Button] (1 or 2) in FM tuner mode.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select a preset radio station.

Note: After three seconds, the preset radio station is confirmed automatically.

Scan Sensitivity Setting

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the FM menu.
  2. Press [SELECT Button] to open [Scan setting].
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Strong] (strong stations only) or [All] (all stations), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu] button to exit the menu.

Display RDS Information

RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to display additional information.

  1. Tune into an FM RDS radio station.
  2. Press and hold the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] for three seconds to display the following information (if available):
    • Station name
    • Program type such as [NEWS], [SPORT], [POP M] (pop music)...
    • Time
    • Text
    • Frequency

Navigating Menus in FM Mode

When listening to FM, you can open the menu to access control options.

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the FM menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select a menu option, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm the option or open the lower menu level.
    • [Scan setting]: Select scan sensitivity (strong stations only or all stations).
    • [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
    • [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
    • [Display]: Adjust backlight, dimming, and timeout settings.
    • [Alarm]: Set alarm on/off and alarm configuration.
    • [Clock]: Set time synchronization, date/time, time format, and date format.
    • [System]: Adjust system settings.
  3. Repeat step 2 if there are sub-options under a selected option.
  4. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Note: The menu will exit if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Listening to Bluetooth® Music

Note:

  • The operating range between the unit and the apparatus is approx. 25 meters (open area).
  • Compatibility with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed.
  • Any obstruction between the unit and your device can reduce the operating range.
  • Keep it away from all other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • The unit will also disconnect if your device moves out of the operating range.

Connect Bluetooth®

  1. Press the [Source] button to select the Bluetooth mode. [Not Connected] will be displayed.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your Bluetooth device, search for and select [Philips TAV2000FB] to establish the connection. If connected: You will hear a voice prompt. [Connected] will be displayed.

Disconnect Bluetooth®

  • Switch to another source on the unit;
  • Deactivate the function from your Bluetooth® device.

Or

Press and hold the [Source] button for three seconds to disconnect the Bluetooth connection. If the connection is disconnected: You will hear a voice prompt. [Pairing] will be displayed.

Clear Bluetooth® Pairing Records

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Press [SELECT Button] to select [Bluetooth pair].
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Yes] (disconnect Bluetooth®, and activate pairing mode), then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Bluetooth clean], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Yes] to disconnect the current connection or [No] to keep the connection, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu] button to exit the menu. [Pairing] will be displayed.

Play Music

When playing music on your Bluetooth® device, you can use this unit to control music playback.

  • Press [SELECT Button] to pause/resume playback.
  • Press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to skip a music track.
  • Turn the [Volume Dial] to adjust the volume.

Navigating Menus in Bluetooth® Mode

When listening via Bluetooth®, you can open the menu to access control options.

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select a menu option, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm the option or open the lower menu level.
    • [Bluetooth pair]: Select this to disconnect the Bluetooth connection and activate pairing mode.
    • [Bluetooth clean]: Clear Bluetooth pairing data.
    • [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
    • [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
    • [Display]: Adjust backlight, dimming, and timeout settings.
    • [Alarm]: Set alarm on/off and alarm configuration.
    • [Clock]: Set time synchronization, date/time, time format, and date format.
    • [System]: Adjust system settings.
  3. Repeat step 2 if there are sub-options under a selected option.
  4. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Note: The menu will exit if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Kitchen Timer Settings

Note: The unit exits menu setting after 30 seconds of inactivity.

Set Kitchen Timer

  1. Press the [Power/Standby] button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Kitchen timer setup], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.

Or

Press and hold the [Kitchen Timer Button] to open the Kitchen Timer directly. The time digits will flash.

  1. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to set the hour, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to set the minute, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. The second digits will flash.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to set the second, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [On/Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [On] (activate) or [Off] (deactivate) for the kitchen timer, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  6. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu. The [Kitchen Timer] icon will be displayed.

Note: The kitchen timer timeout is 60 minutes if there is no user interaction.

Stop Kitchen Timer Sounds

When the kitchen timer rings, press any key to stop the buzzer.

Cancel Kitchen Timer

  1. To cancel the kitchen timer, press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [On/Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Off], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu] button to exit the menu.

Note: The kitchen timer can only be cancelled when the unit is turned on.

Other Functions

Select Menu Language

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [System], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Language], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  4. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select the menu language, then press [SELECT Button] to confirm. (Options: English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski)
  5. Press the [Menu] button to return to the previous menu.

Listen Through Headphones

Connect headphones to the [Headphone Jack] on the back of the main unit.

Reset to Factory Settings

  1. Press the [Menu] button to open the menu.
  2. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [System], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.
  3. Turn the [Volume Dial] or press the [Previous Button]/[Next Button] to select [Factory reset], then press [SELECT Button] to confirm.

Battery Cannot Be Charged Correctly, or Battery Drains Too Quickly

  • Replace the batteries.

Battery Replacement:

  1. Open the battery cover on the back of the unit and remove the original battery from the compartment.
  2. Insert a battery of the same type (not supplied).
  3. Close the battery cover.
