Product Overview
The Philips TAV2000FB is a portable radio receiver that allows you to listen to FM radio and stream audio via Bluetooth. It also features dual alarms and a kitchen timer.

Device Layout
Front Panel: Features a digital display, a control dial, preset buttons (1 & 2), navigation buttons (◄◄, ►►), a SELECT button, a Menu button (←), a Snooze button (ZZ), and a Power/Standby button (O).
Top/Rear Panel: Includes a headphone jack, a Type-C charging port, and an extendable FM antenna.
Getting Started
Charging the Battery
The portable radio is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery. When the battery is low, a [Charging Icon] will appear on the display. Connect the Type-C charging cable to the radio's Type-C port and a power source (5V = 2A). The [Charging Icon] will be displayed during charging. A full charge is indicated by a [Battery Full Icon]. For battery longevity, it's recommended to charge the battery to approximately 50% every 6 months if the device is not in use.
Powering On/Off and Standby Mode
Press the [Power Button] (O) to turn the device on. It will switch to the last selected signal source. Press the [Power Button] (O) again to enter standby mode, where the clock will be displayed if set. Press and hold the [Power Button] (O) for three seconds to turn the device off completely. The device may automatically enter standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity when Bluetooth is not connected or no audio is playing.
Adjusting Volume
Rotate the control dial to adjust the listening volume.
Adjusting Display Brightness
Navigate to the menu: Press the [Menu Button] (←), select 'Display' using the control dial or navigation buttons, then select 'Backlight level'. Choose from 'High', 'Medium', or 'Low' brightness levels and confirm with [Select Button]. Press the [Menu Button] (←) to exit.
Clock and Alarms
Setting the Clock
Automatic Clock Setting: If FM stations broadcast RDS (Radio Data System) time information, the clock can synchronize automatically. Navigate to Menu > Clock > Set auto/manual, then select 'Auto(RDS)'.
Manual Clock Setting: Navigate to Menu > Clock > Set time&date. Use the control dial or navigation buttons to set hours, minutes, day, month, year, and confirm each step with [Select Button].
Time and Date Format
Navigate to Menu > Clock > Set 12H/24H to choose between 12-hour or 24-hour format. Navigate to Menu > Clock > Set date format to select your preferred date display (e.g., MM-DD-YYYY).
Clock Style
Choose between 'Classic analog' or 'Normal digital' clock display via Menu > Clock > Clock style.
Setting Alarms
To set an alarm (Alarm 1 or Alarm 2): Navigate to Menu > Alarm > Alarm 1 Setup (or Alarm 2 Setup). Set the 'Wake up time' using the control dial or navigation buttons. Set the 'Frequency' (Once, Daily, Weekdays, Weekends). Select the 'Source' for the alarm sound (Buzzer or FM Radio). If FM is selected, you may need to choose a preset station. Confirm settings with [Select Button]. An [Alarm Symbol] will appear when an alarm is active.
Enabling/Disabling Alarms
In the Alarm menu, select 'On' or 'Off' for Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 and confirm with [Select Button].
Snoozing and Turning Off Alarms
When an alarm sounds, press the [Snooze Button] (ZZ) to snooze it for a short period (default 10 minutes). Press the [Power Button] (O) to turn the alarm off completely. You can also adjust the snooze duration.
Sleep Timer
Set the sleep timer to automatically switch the radio to standby mode after a specified period. Access this via the menu and select a duration from the available options (e.g., 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes). To disable the sleep timer, repeat the process.
FM Radio Operation
Antenna
For optimal FM reception, fully extend and position the FM antenna. Keep the radio away from other electronic devices to avoid interference.
Automatic Tuning
To automatically tune to the strongest signal, press the [Power Button] (O) to turn on, select FM mode, then press and hold the [Navigation Buttons] (◄◄/►►) for 3 seconds. The radio will scan and stop at the first strong station.
Manual Tuning
In FM mode, use the [Navigation Buttons] (◄◄/►►) to manually tune to specific frequencies. The tuning step is 50 kHz (0.05 MHz).
Automatic Scan and Save
You can save up to 20 FM stations. In FM tuner mode, press and hold the [SCAN Button] for three seconds to initiate an automatic scan and save all receivable FM stations. The radio will then play the first station found.
Manual Save
Tune to a desired FM station. Press and hold either preset button (1 or 2) for three seconds to save the current station to that preset. The display will confirm the preset storage. You can then recall saved stations by pressing the respective preset button.
Scan Sensitivity
Adjust scan sensitivity via Menu > FM > Scan setting. Choose between 'Strong' (only stations with a strong signal) or 'All' (all stations).
RDS Information
When tuned to an FM station with RDS, you can display additional information such as station name, program type (NEWS, SPORT), time, and text by pressing and holding the [Menu Button] (←) for three seconds.
Bluetooth Audio
Pairing a Bluetooth Device
The operational range for Bluetooth is approximately 25 meters (82 feet) in open space. To pair, select Bluetooth mode. On your Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth, search for "Philips TAV2000FB", and select it to connect. You will hear an audio confirmation and see "Connected" on the display.
Playing Music via Bluetooth
Once connected, you can play music from your Bluetooth device. Use the [Select Button] to play/pause and the [Navigation Buttons] (◄◄/►►) to skip tracks. Volume can be adjusted using the control dial or on your Bluetooth device.
Disconnecting Bluetooth
To disconnect, select a different signal source, turn off Bluetooth on your device, or press and hold the [Snooze Button] (ZZ) for three seconds to disconnect and re-enter pairing mode.
Deleting Pairing Information
To clear all Bluetooth pairing information, navigate to Menu > Bluetooth > Bluetooth clean, and select 'Yes' to confirm.
Kitchen Timer
Setting the Kitchen Timer
Press the [Power Button] (O) to turn on the device. Navigate to Menu > Kitchen timer > Kitchen timer setup. You can set the timer by adjusting hours, minutes, and seconds using the control dial or navigation buttons, confirming each step with [Select Button]. The timer icon will appear on the display when active.
Timer Sound and Operation
When the kitchen timer sounds, press any button to silence the buzzer. To turn the kitchen timer on or off, navigate to Menu > Kitchen timer > On/Off and select your preference.
Other Functions
Language Selection
Change the menu language by navigating to Menu > System > Language and selecting your preferred language from the list (English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski).
Factory Reset
To reset the radio to its factory default settings, navigate to Menu > System > Factory reset, select 'Yes', and confirm. The device will restart.
Listening via Headphones
Insert headphones into the headphone jack on the main unit.

Troubleshooting
No Power
- Ensure the radio is fully charged.
- Check that the USB cable is properly connected.
No Sound
- Adjust the volume on the radio.
- Adjust the volume on the connected Bluetooth device.
- Ensure your Bluetooth device is within range.
Unit Unresponsive
Restart the portable radio.
Poor Radio Reception
- Keep the radio away from other electronic devices to avoid interference.
- Fully extend and adjust the FM antenna position.
Alarm Not Working
Ensure the clock and alarm times are set correctly.
Clock/Alarm Settings Lost
Reset the clock/alarm. Replace the backup battery if applicable.
Poor Bluetooth Audio Quality
Ensure a strong Bluetooth signal. Move the device closer to the speaker or remove obstructions between them.
Cannot Find Device for Pairing
Press and hold the [Snooze Button] (ZZ) for 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode and try again.
Cannot Establish Bluetooth Connection
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
- Make sure the radio is in pairing mode.
- Ensure the radio is not already connected to another Bluetooth device.
- Disconnect and try again.
Battery Not Charging or Draining Quickly
Replace the battery. Open the battery compartment, remove the old battery, insert a new one of the same type, and close the compartment.
