Casio AQF-100, AQF-101 Watch User Manual

Module No. 4335, 4338

Important Information

Battery

The battery installed at the factory is discharged during shipping and storage. When the first signs of insufficient power appear (dim display), the battery must be replaced at a CASIO authorized service center or CASIO dealer.

Water Resistance

All watch categories prohibit:

If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it.

Do not wear a watch with a leather strap while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.

Plastic Straps

A whitish powdery substance may appear on plastic straps. This substance is harmless to skin or clothing and can be easily removed by wiping with a cloth. Sweat or moisture on plastic straps, or storage in humid conditions, can damage, break, or crack the strap. To ensure a long service life for plastic straps, wipe off dirt and water with a soft cloth whenever possible.

Fluorescent Cases and Straps

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause gradual fading of fluorescent coloring. Prolonged contact with moisture can cause gradual fading of fluorescent coloring. If any moisture gets on the watch surface, wipe it off as soon as possible. Prolonged contact with any other wet surface can cause discoloration of fluorescent coloring. Check that moisture is removed from the fluorescent surface and avoid contact with other surfaces.

Friction of a fluorescent painted surface against another surface can cause transfer of the fluorescent paint to that surface.

Condensation may form on the inside of the glass due to sudden temperature changes. This is a normal physical phenomenon and not a defect.

CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during the use of these watches and does not accept any claims from third parties.

Notes:

  1. Watches are not water-resistant. Avoid any moisture.
  2. II WR (Water Resistant) means the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause problems.
  3. With 5 Bar (50 meters) water resistance, the watch can withstand water pressure of the indicated value and can be used during showering and brief swimming.
  4. 10 Bar (100 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
  5. 20 Bar (200 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).

Watch Care

Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself. The rubber gasket protecting the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2-3 years. If moisture gets inside the watch, have it checked immediately by your nearest dealer or CASIO distributor.

  10. After completing settings, press button "A" twice to return to Current Time Mode.
  11. If no buttons are pressed for a while, the watch will automatically return to Current Time Mode.

Entering Your Current Location Data

For accurate tide graph and moon phase data in Moon Age Mode, you must input your current location data (GMT difference, longitude, and tide interval). GMT difference is the difference between Greenwich Mean Time (England) and your current location. Longitude can be set from 0° to 180°. For East/West longitude, use button "D". After completing settings, press button "A".

The tide interval is the time between the moon's crossing the meridian and the next high tide.

  1. In Current Time Mode, press and hold button "A" until the seconds display flashes.
  2. Press button "C" to display the GMT offset. If the GMT offset is incorrect, adjust it using buttons "D" and "B".
  3. Press button "A" to move to longitude settings.
  4. Press button "C" to cycle through settings: Longitude value → East/West Longitude → Tide Interval (hours) → Tide Interval (minutes).

  6. To select East ("E")/West ("W") longitude, press button "D".
  7. After completing settings, press button "A".

Backlight

In any mode, press button "L" to turn on the backlight. The backlight automatically turns off when any alarm sounds. The backlight uses electroluminescent (EL) panels, whose power decreases after a certain period of use. The watch emits an audible beep when the display is illuminated; this is due to the vibration of the backlight elements and is not a malfunction. The backlight is difficult to see in direct sunlight. Frequent use of the backlight reduces battery life.

Auto Backlight

The Auto Backlight activates automatically when your hand is positioned at a 40° angle relative to the ground. Do not use the Auto Backlight function when the light could cause injury or distraction, such as when operating a motorcycle or bicycle.

Moon Age Mode

In this mode, you can view the moon phase and age for a specific date, and the tide graph for a specific date and time at your current location.

Moon Data Monitoring

Tide Graph Monitoring

  1. In Moon Age Mode, press and hold button "A" until the year display flashes, indicating the start of date settings for the tide graph.
  2. Press button "C" to cycle through settings: Year → Month → Day → Year.
  3. To change minutes and other values, use button "D" to increase and button "B" to decrease. You can set the time from 2000 to 2099.
  4. After completing settings, press button "A".
  5. Pressing "A" again allows you to view either moon data or the tide graph.

Thermometer Mode

This watch has a built-in sensor to measure ambient temperature. Temperature measurements are taken every 2 minutes and automatically saved for later viewing. Individual temperature values are displayed on the temperature graph in Current Time Mode. Measurements are possible from 10.0°C to 60.0°C (14.0°F to 140.0°F). Note that body temperature, direct sunlight, or moisture can affect ambient temperature measurements, making them inaccurate. Therefore, remove the watch, keep it out of direct sunlight, and prevent moisture from getting on it before taking temperature measurements. If you believe the temperature readings are inaccurate for any reason, you can calibrate the temperature sensor in Current Time Mode. Previously saved temperature values will not change.

Temperature Graph

This watch automatically saves temperature values at the beginning and end of each hour. The temperature graph displays readings for the past 17 hours based on the current time. The temperature graph is updated every 30 minutes. The horizontal axis shows time; the right column shows the latest temperature measurement, and the left column shows the oldest. The vertical axis shows the relative difference between hours. When the relative difference exceeds +10.0°C (+18.0°F), the last segment of the hour starts flashing. When the relative difference exceeds 10.0°C (-18.0°F), no segments for that hour are displayed. If measurements are inaccurate for any reason, only one segment is displayed instead of a series of segments.

Viewing Temperature Data

This watch can automatically save up to 50 temperature values. Press buttons "D" and "C" to view saved values. If a temperature measurement did not occur or occurred with an error, the entry will show "-.- ".

Stopwatch Mode

The Stopwatch Mode allows you to record elapsed time, split times, and finish times for two competitors. The measurable range for total elapsed time is limited to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds.

a) Measuring Elapsed Time: D (Start) → D (Stop) → D (Restart) → D (Stop) → A (Reset)

b) Measuring Split Times: D (Start) → A (Split) → A (Continue) → D (Stop) → A (Reset)

c) Double Finish: D (Start) → A (Split. First Finish) → D (Second Finish. Display shows 1st finisher's time) → A (Cancel Split. Display shows 2nd finisher's time) → A (Reset)

Countdown Timer Mode

The countdown timer can be set from 1 minute to 100 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, a long beep sounds. In Auto-Repeat mode, a beep sounds when zero is reached, and the countdown immediately restarts from the preset value.
