1 Favorite stations (1 or 2): Save/direct access to preset 1 or 2.

3 Getting Started

Always follow the instructions in this section in order.

3.1 Charging the Built-in Battery

The portable radio has a built-in rechargeable battery.

Note: A low battery indicator icon appears when the battery is low. Charge the built-in battery as soon as possible.

Connect the USB-C port of the portable radio to a power socket (5V 2A) using the supplied TYPE-C cable.

Note: While the portable radio is charging, a charging indicator symbol is displayed. When the portable radio is fully charged, a full charge symbol is displayed.

Note: Your device contains built-in lithium batteries. The charging capacity of lithium batteries will decrease over time due to their self-discharge characteristic. To ensure a long battery life for your device, we recommend charging the built-in lithium battery to about 50% every 6 months when the device is not in use.

3.2 Power On/Off or Standby Mode

  • Press [Power] to turn on the device. The radio switches to the last selected source.
  • Press [Standby] to switch the device to 'Standby' mode. The time is displayed (if set).

Note: If the Bluetooth device is not connected for more than 15 minutes or is connected but not playing, the radio switches to standby mode.

Press and hold [Power] for three seconds in any mode to turn off the device directly. The display turns off.

3.3 Adjust Volume

While listening, turn the knob to adjust the volume.

3.4 Adjust Display Brightness

You can select different brightness levels or turn off the display.

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Display], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Backlight level], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the brightness level (High, Medium, Low) for the display, then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Press [Menu] to exit the menu.

4 Clock Settings

Note: The menu will turn off if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

4.1 Automatic Clock Setting

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Set auto/manual], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Auto(RDS)], then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

When tuned to an FM RDS station, the device can automatically synchronize with the time broadcast by the FM RDS station (with CT information).

4.2 Manual Clock Setting

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Set date&time], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the hour, then press [Select] to confirm. The minutes will flash.
  5. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to set the minutes, then press [Select] to confirm. The seconds will flash.
  6. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the month, then press [Select] to confirm.
  7. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the day, then press [Select] to confirm.
  8. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the year, then press [Select] to confirm. The time is set.
  9. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

4.3 Set Time Format

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Set 12H/24H], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [12H] or [24H], then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

4.4 Set Date Format

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Set date format], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the date format ([MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD]), then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

4.5 Clock Style

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Clock style], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital], then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

5 Alarm Settings

Note: Ensure the clock is set correctly.

5.1 Set Alarm Time

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Alarm], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Wake up time], then press [Select] to confirm. The hour will flash.
  5. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to set the hour, then press [Select] to confirm. The minutes will flash.
  6. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to set the minutes, then press [Select] to confirm.
  7. If [Once] is selected as the alarm period, use [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] and [Select] to set the alarm date.
  8. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Frequency], then press [Select] to confirm. The alarm repeat cycle will flash.
  9. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the alarm repeat cycle (Once, Every day, Weekday, or Weekend), then press [Select] to confirm.
  10. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Source], then press [Select] to confirm. The alarm source will flash.
  11. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the alarm source (BUZZER or FM station), then press [Select] to confirm.

If [FM] is selected as the alarm source (BUZZER is default), the alarm menu will have an additional option for [Source]. Use [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] and [Select] to choose an FM preset radio station number.

  1. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

A corresponding alarm icon will appear.

Tip: The device exits the alarm setting mode after 30 seconds of inactivity. If FM is selected as the alarm source but no preset station is chosen, BUZZER activates automatically. The alarm timeout is 60 minutes if there is no user action.

5.2 Enable/Disable Alarm Timer

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Alarm], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [On] or [Off], then press [Select] to confirm activation or deactivation of the alarm timer.
  5. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

5.3 Snooze

If the alarm timer is activated, the snooze icon will appear. If the alarm timer is deactivated, the snooze icon will disappear.

When the alarm sounds, press [Snooze]. The alarm is snoozed and will ring again 10 minutes later (default is 10 minutes).

During alarm snooze, press [Snooze] or [Power] for three seconds to cancel the alarm snooze. The alarm turns off.

5.4 Stop Alarm Sound

When the alarm activates, press the [Snooze] button to pause the sound and enter snooze mode, or press the [Power] button to turn off the alarm sound.

The alarm turns off, but the alarm settings remain.

5.5 Sleep Timer

This portable radio can automatically switch to standby mode once a sleep time is set.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press [Snooze] to select the sleep time. Press [Snooze] repeatedly to select from different sleep times.

Off - 15 - 30 - 45 - 60 - 90 - 120 (minutes)

To turn off the automatic shut-off timer: Repeat the above steps, setting the sleep timer to off.

6 Listen to FM Radio

Note: Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid interference with the radio signal.

For optimal reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the FM antenna.

6.1 Automatic Tuning

  1. Press [Power] to turn on the device.
  2. Press [Source] to select FM mode.
  3. Press and hold [Scan] for three seconds. The radio automatically tunes and saves stations with a strong reception.

6.2 Manual Tuning

Press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the frequency you want to manually tune to a station.

Note: The tuning step for the portable radio is 50KHz. The radio frequency on the display will increase by 0.05MHz with each press of [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward].

6.3 Auto Scan and Save FM Radio Stations

Note: You can save up to 20 FM radio stations.

In FM tuning mode, press and hold [Scan] for three seconds. [Auto Scanning...] is displayed. The device automatically scans and saves all FM radio stations, then broadcasts the first available station.

6.4 Manually Save FM Radio Stations

  1. In FM tuning mode, tune to an FM radio station.
  2. Press and hold [Preset] for three seconds to activate programming mode. The preset list appears on the screen.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the preset number.
  4. Press [Select] to save the preset station.
  5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to save more FM radio stations.

Tip: To replace a preset station, save another station in its place if the quality of the preset is more than 20.

6.5 Save and Select Favorite Stations

Note: You can save favorite radio stations to direct buttons 1, 2.

  1. In FM tuning mode, tune to an FM radio station.
  2. Press and hold button 1 or 2 (preset number) for three seconds to save the current station to the corresponding direct position. [Preset 1 or 2 stored] is displayed. The preset number and station frequency are shown.

In FM tuning mode, press 1 or 2 to directly select a preset radio station (1 or 2).

6.6 Select Preset Radio Station

  1. In FM tuning mode, press [Source].
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select a preset radio station.

Note: After three seconds, the preset radio station will be automatically confirmed.

6.7 Scan Sensitivity Setting

  1. Press [Menu] to access the FM menu.
  2. Press [Select] to enter [Scan setting].
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Strong] (strong stations only) or [All] (all stations), then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Press [Menu] to exit the menu.

6.8 Displaying RDS Information

RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to display additional information. Tune to an FM RDS station.

Press and hold [Menu] for three seconds to display the following information (if available): Station Name, Program Type (e.g., NEWS, SPORT, POP Music), Time, Text, Frequency.

7 Listen to Music via Bluetooth®

Note: The operating range between the unit and the device is approximately 25 meters (open space). Compatibility with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed. Obstacles between the unit and the device can reduce the operating range. Keep away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. The unit will turn off when you move the device out of the operating range.

7.1 Connecting to Bluetooth®

  1. Press [Source] to select Bluetooth mode. [Not Connected] will appear.
  2. Switch the Bluetooth device to Bluetooth, search for and select [Philips TAV2000FB] to start pairing.

If successfully connected: A voice prompt will be heard. [Connected] will appear.

7.2 Disconnecting Bluetooth®

  • Switch to another source from the device;
  • Disable the function from your Bluetooth® device.

Or press and hold [Source] for three seconds to disconnect Bluetooth pairing.

If successfully disconnected: A voice prompt will be heard. [Pairing] will appear.

7.3 Delete Bluetooth® Pairing Records

  1. Press [Menu] to access the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Press [Select] to select [Bluetooth pair].
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Yes] (disconnects Bluetooth® and enters pairing mode), then press [Select] to confirm.

7.4 Playing Music

When playing music on a Bluetooth® device, you can use this device to control music playback.

  • Press [Select] to pause/resume playback.
  • Press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to skip tracks.
  • Turn the knob to adjust the volume.

8 Kitchen Timer

Note: The device exits the menu settings if idle for 30 seconds.

8.1 Setting the Kitchen Timer

  1. Press [Power] to turn on the device.
  2. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Kitchen timer setup], then press [Select] to confirm.

Or long press [Snooze] to turn on the kitchen timer. The hour digits will flash.

  1. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to set the hour, then press [Select] to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to set the minutes, then press [Select] to confirm. The second digits will flash.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to set the seconds, then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [On/Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [On] (activate) or [Off] (deactivate) the kitchen timer, then press [Select] to confirm.
  6. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

The kitchen timer icon appears.

Note: The kitchen timer expires after 60 minutes if there is no user activity.

8.2 Stopping the Kitchen Timer Sound

When the kitchen timer rings, press any button to stop the sound.

8.3 Cancelling the Kitchen Timer

  1. If you want to cancel the kitchen timer, press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [On/Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
  5. Press [Menu] to exit the menu.

Note: The kitchen timer can be cancelled when the appliance is on.

9 Other Features

9.1 Menu Language Selection

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [System], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Language], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select the language for the menu display, then press [Select] to confirm.

English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski

  1. Press [Menu] to return to the previous menu.

9.2 Factory Reset

  1. Press [Menu] to access the menu.
  2. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [System], then press [Select] to confirm.
  3. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Factory reset], then press [Select] to confirm.
  4. Turn the rotary knob or press [Seek Backward]/[Seek Forward] to select [Yes] (resets all radio settings to factory default), then press [Select] to confirm. [Restarting...] is displayed.

9.3 Listening via Headphones

Plug the headphones into the jack on the back of the main unit.

11 Troubleshooting

Warning: Never remove the product casing.

For the warranty to be valid, never attempt to repair the product yourself. If you encounter problems during use, check the following before requesting service. If the problem is not resolved, visit the Philips website (www.philips.com/support). When contacting Philips, ensure the device is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.

Unit does not turn on

  • Ensure the portable radio is fully charged.
  • Ensure the USB port on the portable radio is properly connected.

No sound

  • Adjust the volume of the portable radio.
  • Adjust the volume of the connected device.
  • Ensure your Bluetooth device is within operating range.

Unit is unresponsive

  • Restart the portable radio.

Poor radio reception

  • Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid interference with the radio signal.
  • Fully extend and adjust the position of the antenna.

Alarm does not work

  • Set the clock/alarm correctly.

Clock/alarm setting is deleted

  • Reset the clock/alarm.
  • Replace the backup batteries.

Poor audio quality after connecting with a Bluetooth® enabled device

  • Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to the speaker or remove obstacles between them.

Failed to find [Philips TAV2000FB] for pairing on your Bluetooth device

  • Press and hold [Source] for 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode, then try again.

Cannot connect to your Bluetooth device

  • The Bluetooth function on the device is not enabled. Refer to your device's user manual to learn how to enable this function.
  • This portable radio is not in pairing mode.
  • This portable radio is already connected to another device with Bluetooth enabled.
  • Disconnect and try again.

Battery not charging properly or battery drains very quickly.

  • Replace the batteries.
