Overview of the Portable Radio
The Philips TAV2000FB is a compact portable radio with various features. The unit has a display screen, speaker, and several control buttons and a dial.
- 1. Favorite Stations (1 or 2)
- Save or directly access preset station 1 or 2.

- Snooze the alarm or set the sleep timer.

- Access the menu settings, view information, go back to the previous menu, or exit the menu settings.

- Adjust the volume or select a menu option. Access the list of selected menu items, save preset stations, automatically scan and save radio stations, or play/pause audio.

- Switch to FM or Bluetooth source, or initiate Bluetooth pairing.
- 6. Power / Standby / Alarm Stop
- Turn the unit on/off, switch to standby mode, or stop an active alarm.

- Activate preset programming mode or select a preset radio station.

- Set the clock, tune to a radio station, navigate through menu lists, or go to the previous track.

Getting Started
Charging the Built-in Battery
The portable radio is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery. The [Battery Low Indicator] icon appears when the battery level is low; charge the built-in battery as soon as possible. Connect the Type-C connector of the portable radio to a power outlet (5V 2A) using the provided Type-C cable. When the radio is charging, the [Charging Indicator] icon is displayed. When fully charged, the [Fully Charged Indicator] icon is displayed.
Note: The unit contains built-in lithium batteries. Their capacity will decrease over time due to self-discharge. To ensure battery longevity, it is recommended to charge the battery to around 50% every 6 months if the unit is not in use.
Powering On/Off or Switching to Standby Mode
Press the [Power] button to turn on the unit. The radio will switch to the last selected source. Press the [Power] button again to put the unit into standby mode; the clock time will be displayed if set. If a Bluetooth device is not connected for over 15 minutes, or is connected but not playing audio, the radio automatically switches to standby mode. Press and hold the [Power] button for three seconds to directly turn off the unit; the screen will turn off.
Adjusting Volume
While listening, turn the [Volume Dial] to adjust the volume.
Adjusting Display Brightness
You can select different brightness levels or turn off the screen.
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Display], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Backlight level], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select the screen brightness level (High, Medium, Low), then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to exit the menu.
Clock Setting
Note: If no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the menu will exit.
Setting the Clock Automatically
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Set auto/manual], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Auto(RDS)], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
The unit can synchronize automatically with the time broadcast by FM RDS stations (with CT information).
Setting the Clock Manually
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Set date&time], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the hour, then press [Select] to confirm. The minute digits will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the minute, then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the month, then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the day, then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the year, then press [Select] to confirm. The clock time is now set.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Setting the Time Format
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Set 12H/24H], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [12H] or [24H], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Setting the Date Format
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Set date format], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select the date format [MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Clock Style
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Clock], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Clock style], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Setting Alarm
Setting the Alarm Time
Note: Ensure the clock is set correctly.
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Alarm], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Wake up time], then press [Select] to confirm. The hour digits will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the hour, then press [Select] to confirm. The minute digits will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the minute, then press [Select] to confirm.
- If [Once] is selected as the alarm period, use [Previous]/[Next] and [Select] to set the alarm date.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Frequency], then press [Select] to confirm. The alarm repetition cycle will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select the alarm repetition cycle (Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekend mode), then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Source], then press [Select] to confirm. The alarm source will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select the alarm source (e.g., FM station), then press [Select] to confirm.
If [FM] is selected as the alarm source (default is SUMMER), the Alarm menu will have an additional option [Source]. Use [Previous]/[Next] and [Select] to choose the FM preset station number.
Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu. The corresponding [Alarm Symbol] will be displayed.
Tips:
- The unit exits alarm setting mode after 30 seconds of inactivity.
- If FM is selected as the alarm source but the preset station is not chosen, SUMMER is activated automatically.
- The alarm snooze duration is 60 minutes if no user action is taken.
Activating/Deactivating Alarm Timer
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Alarm], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [On] or [Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
If the alarm timer is activated, the [Alarm Symbol] is displayed. If deactivated, the [Alarm Symbol] is displayed.
Snooze
- When the alarm sounds, press the [Snooze] button. The alarm will snooze and ring again 10 minutes later (default is 10 minutes).
- During the alarm snooze period, press the [Snooze] button to select a different snooze period (in minutes) before it rings again.
- During the alarm snooze period, press and hold the [Snooze] button for three seconds to cancel the alarm snooze function. The alarm will stop.
Stopping Alarm Sounds
When the alarm sounds, press the [Snooze] button to pause the alarm sound and enter snooze mode, or press the [Power] button to stop the alarm sound. The alarm stops, but the settings remain.
Setting Sleep Timer
This portable radio can automatically switch to standby mode after the sleep timer is set.
- Turn on the unit.
- Press the [Sleep] button to select a sleep time. Continuously press the [Sleep] button to select from different sleep times (Off, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes).
To deactivate the sleep timer: Repeat the above steps and set the sleep timer to Off.
Listening to FM Radio
Note: Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid radio interference. For optimal reception, fully extend the FM antenna and adjust its position.
Automatic Tuning
- Press the [Power] button to turn on the unit.
- Press the [FM Symbol] button to select FM mode.
- Press and hold [Scan] for 3 seconds. The portable radio will automatically tune to a station with a strong signal.
Manual Tuning
Press [Previous]/[Next] to select a frequency to tune to a station manually.
Note: The tuning step of the portable radio is 50 kHz. The frequency displayed will increase by 0.05 MHz when pressing [Previous]/[Next].
Scan and Save FM Radio Stations Automatically
Note: You can save a maximum of 20 FM radio stations.
In FM tuner mode, press and hold [Scan] for three seconds. [Auto Scanning...] will be displayed. The radio will scan and save all FM radio stations automatically, and the first available station will play.
Saving FM Radio Stations Manually
- In FM tuner mode, tune to an FM radio station.
- Press and hold [Select] for three seconds to activate programming mode. The list of presets will be displayed.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select the preset number.
- Press [Select] to save the preset station.
- Repeat steps 1 to 4 to save more FM radio channels.
Tips: To remove a preset station, save another station to the same location if the number of presets exceeds 20.
Saving and Selecting Favorite Stations
Note: You can save favorite stations to the direct buttons 1 and 2.
- In FM tuner mode, tune to an FM radio station.
- Press and hold button 1 or 2 (preset number) for three seconds to save the current station directly to that position. [Preset 1 or 2 stored] will be displayed. The preset number and station frequency will be shown.
- In FM tuner mode, press button 1 or 2 to directly select a preset radio station (1 or 2).
Selecting a Preset Radio Station
- In FM tuner mode, press the [Favorite Station] button.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select a preset radio station.
Note: After three seconds, the preset radio station will be confirmed automatically.
Scan Sensitivity Setting
- Press the [Menu] button to access the FM menu.
- Press [Select] to enter [Scan setting].
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Strong] (stations with strong signal only) or [All] (all stations), then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to exit the menu.
Displaying RDS Information
RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to display additional information. Tune to an FM RDS station. Press and hold the [Back] button for three seconds to display the following information (if available): Station Name, Program Types (e.g., [NEWS], [SPORT], [POP M]), Clock Time, Text, Frequency.
Displaying the Menu in FM Mode
When listening to FM, you can access the menu for control options.
- Press the [Menu] button to access the FM menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select a menu option, then press [Select] to confirm the option or open a submenu. Options include:
- [Scan setting]: Select scan sensitivity (strong signal only or all stations).
- [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
- [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
- [Display]: Adjust backlight, dimming, and timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn alarm on/off and configure alarm settings.
- [Clock]: Set time synchronization, date/time, and choose time/date formats.
- [System]: Adjust system settings.
- Repeat step 2 if a sub-option is available under an option.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Note: If no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the menu will exit.
Listening to Bluetooth® Music
Note: The operating range between the device and the radio is approximately 25 meters (open area). Compatibility with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed. Any obstruction between devices can reduce the range. Keep away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. Your device will also be disconnected when moved out of the operating range.
Connecting to Bluetooth®
- Press the [Bluetooth Symbol] button to select Bluetooth mode. [Not Connected] will be displayed.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your device, search for and select [Philips TAV2000FB] to start pairing. If the connection is successful, you will hear a prompt, and [Connected] will be displayed.
Disconnecting from Bluetooth®
Switch to another source on the unit, or deactivate the Bluetooth® function on your device. Alternatively, press and hold the [Bluetooth Symbol] button for three seconds to disconnect from Bluetooth. If disconnection is successful, you will hear a prompt, and [Pairing] will be displayed.
Deleting Bluetooth® Pairing Records
- Press the [Bluetooth Symbol] button to access the Bluetooth menu.
- Press [Select] to choose [Bluetooth pair].
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Yes] (to disconnect from Bluetooth® and enter pairing mode), then press [Select] to confirm. [Pairing] will be displayed.
Alternatively:
- Press the [Bluetooth Symbol] button to access the Bluetooth menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Bluetooth clean], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Yes] to disconnect the current pairing or [No] to keep the pairing, then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to exit the menu.
Playing Music
When playing music on your Bluetooth® device, you can use this unit to control music playback.
- Press [Select] to pause/resume playback.
- Press [Previous]/[Next] to skip to the next track.
- Turn the dial to adjust the volume level.
Displaying the Menu in Bluetooth® Mode
When listening via Bluetooth®, you can access the menu for control options.
- Press the [Bluetooth Symbol] button to access the Bluetooth® menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select a menu option, then press [Select] to confirm the option or open a submenu. Options include:
- [Bluetooth pair]: Select to disconnect from Bluetooth® and enter pairing mode.
- [Bluetooth clean]: Delete Bluetooth® pairing records.
- [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
- [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
- [Display]: Adjust backlight, dimming, and timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn alarm on/off and configure alarm settings.
- [Clock]: Set time synchronization, date/time, and choose time/date formats.
- [System]: Adjust system settings.
- Repeat step 2 if a sub-option is available under an option.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Note: If no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the menu will exit.
Setting Kitchen Timer
Note: The unit exits menu settings when inactive for 30 seconds.
Setting the Kitchen Timer
- Press the [Power] button to turn on the unit.
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Kitchen timer setup], then press [Select] to confirm.
Alternatively, press and hold the [Kitchen Timer Symbol] button to open the kitchen timer. The hour digits will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the hour, then press [Select] to confirm. The minute digits will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the minute, then press [Select] to confirm. The second digits will blink.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to set the second, then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [On/Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [On] (activate) or [Off] (deactivate), then press [Select] to confirm.
Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu. The [Kitchen Timer Symbol] will be displayed.
Note: The kitchen timer snooze duration is 60 minutes if no user action is taken.
Stopping Kitchen Timer Alarms
When the kitchen timer sounds, any button can be pressed to turn off the buzzer.
Canceling the Kitchen Timer
- To cancel the kitchen timer, press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Kitchen timer], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [On/Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Off], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Press the [Back] button to exit the menu.
Note: The kitchen timer can only be canceled when the unit is turned on.
Other Functions
Selecting Menu Language
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [System], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Language], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select the desired language from the list, then press [Select] to confirm. Available languages include: English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski.
- Press the [Back] button to return to the previous menu.
Listening with Headphones
Connect headphones to the headphone jack on the back of the main unit.
Resetting to Factory Settings
- Press the [Menu] button to access the menu.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [System], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Factory reset], then press [Select] to confirm.
- Turn the dial or press [Previous]/[Next] to select [Yes] (to reset all radio settings to factory defaults), then press [Select] to confirm. [Restarting...] will be displayed.

Troubleshooting
Warning: Never remove the outer covers of the product.
To maintain your warranty, never attempt to repair the product yourself. Check the following points if you encounter problems with this unit before requesting service. Visit the Philips website (www.philips.com/support) if you cannot resolve the issue. When contacting Philips, ensure the speaker is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
No Power
- Ensure the portable radio is fully charged.
- Check that the USB port on the portable radio is correctly connected.
No Sound
- Adjust the volume on the portable radio.
- Adjust the volume on the connected device.
- Ensure your Bluetooth device is within operating range.
No Response from Unit
- Restart the portable radio.
Poor Radio Reception
- Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid radio interference.
- Fully extend and adjust the antenna position.
Alarm Not Working
- Set the clock/alarm correctly.
Clock/Alarm Setting Deleted
- Reset the clock/alarm.
- Replace backup batteries.
Poor Sound Quality After Pairing with a Bluetooth-Enabled Device
- Bluetooth reception is weak. Move the unit closer to this speaker or remove any obstructions between them.
Cannot Find [Philips TAV2000FB] on Bluetooth Device for Pairing
- Press and hold the [Bluetooth Symbol] button for 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode, and try again.
Cannot Connect to Your Bluetooth Device
- Your device's Bluetooth function is not activated. Refer to your device's manual for instructions on how to activate the function.
- This portable radio is not in pairing mode.
- This portable speaker is already connected to another Bluetooth-enabled device.
- Disconnect and try again.
Battery Not Charging Properly or Draining Too Quickly
- Replace the batteries.
- Remove the battery cover on the back of the unit and remove the original battery from the battery compartment.
- Insert a battery of the same type (not supplied).
- Lock the battery cover.
