Important Notice

CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK - DO NOT OPEN

WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD - DO NOT OPEN

The lightning symbol in an equilateral triangle warns of the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" inside the product, sufficient to constitute a risk of electric shock.

The exclamation mark in an equilateral triangle warns of important operating and maintenance instructions in the accompanying documentation.

WARNING: Terminals marked with a symbol may carry sufficient current to constitute an electric shock hazard. External wiring connected to the terminals must be installed by a trained person, or ready-to-use cables or cords must be used.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or humidity.

WARNING: A Class I construction apparatus must be connected to a mains socket with an earth connection.

Important Safety Instructions

  1. Read these instructions.
  2. Keep these instructions.
  3. Heed all warnings.
  4. Follow all instructions.
  5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
  6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
  7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Do not install near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades, one wider than the other. A grounding plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wider blade or the third prong are for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
  10. Do not walk on or pinch the power cord, particularly at the plugs, convenience receptacles, and at the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  11. Use only attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  12. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  13. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
  14. Mains disconnection: The POWER switch cuts off the functions and indicators of the apparatus, but the total electrical disconnection is made by unplugging the power cord from the mains socket. This is why you must always have easy access to it.
  15. The apparatus is connected to a grounded mains socket by means of a power cord.
  16. Marking information is located under the apparatus.
  17. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

WARNING: This product must not be disposed of with unsorted household waste. Return it to the nearest electrical and electronic waste treatment center.

NEEC AUDIO BARCELONA, S.L. disclaims all responsibility for damages that may be caused to persons, animals, or objects due to non-compliance with the above warnings.

Introduction

The WP22DN is a wall panel audio interface compatible with Dante™/AES67 digital audio transport protocols.

It features 2 front-panel mic/line audio inputs on combo connectors and two channels of Dante™/AES67 conversion, either direct or by summing the analog input channels (stereo to mono conversion). Additionally, it has 2 balanced analog outputs with duplicated connectors: XLR on the front panel and Euroblock on the rear panel. Both are connected to 2 Dante™/AES67 channels from the local network. It can be powered via Ethernet (PoE) or a local power supply.

Main Features

Installation

The installation of the WP22DN unit includes the following steps:

Unit Mounting

  1. Remove the front panels held in place by magnets. You can use the supplied magnet as a removal tool by contacting the top right corner of the front panel and pulling gently.
  2. Connect the Cat5 or higher cable to the RJ-45 connector that will link the unit to the local network. If necessary (see External Power Supply Installation section below), connect an external power supply.
  3. If necessary, connect the analog audio outputs (Euroblock terminals on the rear of the unit) to the desired audio equipment. These 2 outputs are an exact copy of the 2 outputs available on XLR connectors on the front panel.
  4. Screw the unit onto the surface-mount or flush-mount housing.
  5. Mount the desired set of front panels (with or without access to input gain settings), securing them in place with the magnets.

Front Panel Controls

Diagram: Front view of the WP22DN showing OUTPUT 1 and OUTPUT 2 connectors, GAIN and INPUT 1/2 controls, and DANTE and POWER LEDs.

Behind the right front panel (INPUT2 / OUTPUT 2) is a triple mini-switch (DIP) selector. It allows you to choose the content of output channels 1 and 2 of Dante™/AES67 (direct feed from analog inputs or a combination of them) and to activate or deactivate phantom power for the analog input channels.

Diagram: Front view of WP22DN with front panels removed, highlighting DIP SWITCHES 1, 2, 3 (left to right) for INPUT1 GAIN and INPUT2 GAIN.

DIP Switch Configuration Table

DIP Switch 1 (Left) DIP Switch 2 (Center) DIP Switch 3 (Right)
OFF (high position): Dante 1 channel = analog input IN1 OFF (high position): Phantom power for analog inputs IN1 and IN2 = OFF OFF (high position): Dante 2 channel = analog input IN2
ON (low position): Dante 1 channel = analog inputs IN1 + IN2 ON (low position): Phantom power for analog inputs IN1 and IN2 = ON ON (low position): Dante 2 channel = analog inputs IN1 + IN2

Additionally, each analog input has its own gain control with 4 adjustment levels: 0 / 10 / 20 / 35 dB, as indicated on the front panels, accessible with a screwdriver.

Note: A Dante™/AES67 receiving unit is necessary to verify, using vu-meters, the correct adjustment of these input gains and the resulting levels from the conversion of signals to Dante™/AES67 format by the WP22DN unit. In the following example, a MIMO4040DN unit receives two Dante™/AES67 channels from a WP22DN unit.

It is possible to monitor their levels in the MIMO4040DN:

External Power Supply Installation

If the WP22DN unit does not receive a PoE (Power over Ethernet) power supply from the network switch connection port, it can be powered by an optional external power adapter, model WP-PSU or WP24-PSU, with bare wires connected to the + and - terminals of the Euroblock connector indicated in section 5.1. Unit Mounting.

Powering Up and Management via Dante Controller Software

Powering Up the WP22DN

When the unit is connected to the Dante™/AES67 network and powered by PoE or an external power adapter, the LEDs on its front panel provide the following information:

Network Configuration and Dante™/AES67 Routing of the WP22DN

To configure the network parameters and the Dante™/AES67 channel transmission/reception of the WP22DN, the Audinate Dante Controller application must be used. For complete information, refer to the developer's documentation:

www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-controller?lang=fr

The WP22DN ships from the factory with the DHCP service enabled, meaning the unit will automatically take the IP address dynamically provided by a DHCP server on the local network to which it is connected, if applicable. However, specific static network parameters can be configured with Dante Controller, by accessing the window shown in this example:

Diagram: Dante Controller - Device View window showing network configuration options, including IP address, Netmask, DNS Server, and Gateway.

The default name of the unit (the label under which it appears in Dante Controller) is always set at the factory to WP22DN-nnnnnn, where "nnnnnn" corresponds to the last 6 digits of the MAC address of each device. In any case, this name can be changed by accessing this window:

Diagram: Dante Controller - Device View window showing device renaming options, sample rate, encoding, and latency settings.

The routing of Dante™/AES67 transmission and reception channels can be defined in the Routing window, where all compatible Dante devices detected on the network are also displayed:
