1.2 Important Safety Instructions

  1. Read these instructions.
  2. Keep these instructions.
  3. Heed all warnings.
  4. Follow all instructions.
  5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
  6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
  7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  8. Do not install near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or other heat-producing apparatus, including amplifiers.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades, one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit in your outlet, consult an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet.
  10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  11. Use only attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  12. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  13. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
  14. Disconnecting from the mains: by turning off the POWER switch, all functions and indicators of the amplifier will stop, but complete disconnection of the apparatus is achieved by unplugging the power cord from its connector. For this reason, it must always be easily accessible.
  15. The equipment connects to an outlet with a protective earth connection via the power cord.
  16. Part of the product labeling is located on the base/rear of the unit.
  17. This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

1.3 Cleaning

To clean the apparatus, use only a soft, dry cloth or one slightly dampened with water and a neutral liquid detergent, then dry it with a clean cloth. Ensure that water never enters the apparatus through any opening. Never use alcohol, gasoline, solvents, or abrasive substances.

NEEC AUDIO BARCELONA, S.L. declines any responsibility for damages that may occur to persons, animals, or objects due to non-compliance with the above warnings.

4. Description and Features

The BOB-04 is a Dante/AES67 digital audio interface (Audio over IP). It offers 4 line-level analog audio outputs, converted from 4 Dante/AES67 signals (Audio over IP) received via the connected digital audio Ethernet LAN.

It features PoE (Power over Ethernet) for direct DC power supply from PoE-compatible Ethernet switches. An external 24 VDC power supply is optionally available (sold separately).

The BOB-04 is a generic Dante/AES67 device that can be used in combination with Ecler Dante devices such as EclerNet / EclerPLEX / VIDA / HALO, or with any other third-party Dante/AES67 device. It is not a native EclerNet / EclerPLEX host unit.

4.1 Main Features

5. Installation and Connections

The BOB-04 is specifically designed for installation in 19" rack cabinets, occupying half a rack unit in height and half a rack unit in width. It includes a half-rack unit joining adapter, which allows two half-rack width devices to be mounted in a standard 19" rack unit. See below for adapter mounting instructions.

Given that the apparatus incorporates a heat generator, it is very important that it is not completely enclosed or exposed to extreme temperatures.

If the installation includes several units in the same rack or is performed inside cabinets with doors, it is highly recommended to equip these with forced ascending ventilation, installing fans at the bottom and top. This ascending ventilation flow will facilitate the dissipation of heat generated inside.

5.1 Installation

The BOB-04 includes a half-rack front panel joining adapter that allows two half-rack width devices to be mounted in 19" standard rack units.

Step 1: Remove the 3 screws from one of the supports.

Step 2: To join the supplied half-rack front panel adapter, use the same 3 screws that were removed.

5.2 Connections

5.2.1 Analog Audio Output Connections

The BOB-04 has 4 balanced analog line outputs on its rear panel that accept line levels.

The signal output connectors are 3-position screw terminal blocks. The wiring is as follows:

For a non-balanced connection, short-circuit the pin with the pin as shown in the image above.

5.2.2 Ethernet / Dante/AES67 Port

The RJ-45 ETHERNET connector on the rear panel allows connecting the device to an Ethernet network.

The BOB-04 allows the reception of 4 Dante/AES67 channels.

For more information on network configuration and Dante routing, consult the chapter "Network configuration and Dante/AES67 routing".

6. Startup and Operation

If PoE DC power is not available from the Ethernet switch, connect the optional external power supply (sold separately) to the DC IN connector on the rear panel.

? To avoid hum, prevent the power cord from intertwining with shielded audio cables.

The unit will turn on automatically, and the ON LED on the front panel will illuminate green.

7. Network Configuration and Dante/AES67 Routing

To configure network parameters (IP addresses, mask, etc.) and the transmission and reception of Dante/AES67 channels, you must use the Dante Controller application from Audinate.

? For more information, consult the developer's documentation: www.audinate.com

AES67 is enabled by default. Dante devices cannot subscribe to AES67 flows from other Dante devices.

The unit comes from the factory with the DHCP service enabled. Therefore, the unit will automatically obtain a dynamic IP address provided by a DHCP server on the local area network to which it is connected, if such a server is available. However, specific static network parameters can be configured using Dante Controller, by accessing the window shown in this example:

The unit's name displayed by default as a label in Dante Controller is set at the factory as BOB-04-nnnnnn, where "nnnnnn" corresponds to the last 6 digits of the MAC address of each device. However, it can be renamed via the following window:

The routing of Dante/AES67 channel transmitters and receivers can be defined in the routing window, where all Dante-enabled devices detected on the network will also appear:
