Casio Module 5372 Watch
Models: EFR-533 / EFR-547
Important Information
Battery
The battery installed at the factory may discharge during shipping and storage. If you notice signs of low power (faint display), replace the battery at an authorized CASIO service center or dealer.
Water Resistance
For all watch categories, the following are prohibited:
- Pressing buttons underwater.
- Changing time underwater.
- Unscrewing the crown underwater.
If the watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it. Do not wear watches with leather straps while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.
Water Resistance Classification
Watches are classified by rating (I to V) according to their degree of water resistance. Check your watch's rating using the table below to determine correct usage.
Rating | Case Marking | Splashes, Rain, etc. | Washing, Swimming | Diving | Scuba Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | - | No | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes:
- Rating I: Watches are not water-resistant. Avoid getting any moisture on them.
Explanation of Water Resistance Ratings:
- II WR (Water Resistant): Indicates water resistance according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause any problems.
- III Water Resistance to 5 Bar (50 meters): The watch can withstand the indicated water pressure and can be used while showering and for brief swimming.
- IV Water Resistance to 10 Bar (100 meters): The watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
- V Water Resistance to 20 Bar (200 meters): The watch can be used for scuba diving (excluding depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).
Watch Care
- Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself.
- The rubber gasket that protects the watch from water and dust needs to be replaced every 2 - 3 years.
- If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by your nearest dealer or CASIO distributor.
- Do not expose the watch to extreme temperatures.
- Although the watch is designed for active everyday use, wear it carefully and avoid drops.
- Do not fasten the strap too tightly. You should be able to fit a finger between your wrist and the strap.
- For cleaning the watch and strap, use a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened in a solution of mild neutral detergent. Never use easily evaporating agents (e.g., gasoline, solvents, spray cleaners, etc.).
- When not using your watch, store it in a dry place.
- Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, paint, etc. Chemical reactions caused by these materials can damage gaskets, the case, and the watch's finish.
- Some models feature silk-screened designs on the strap. Be careful when cleaning these straps to avoid damaging the designs.
For Watches with Plastic Straps...
- You may notice a white powdery substance on the strap. This substance is harmless to your skin or clothing and can be easily removed by wiping with a cloth.
- Exposure of plastic straps to sweat or moisture, or storage in conditions of high humidity, can lead to damage, tearing, or cracking. To ensure a long service life for the plastic strap, wipe it clean of dirt and water with a soft cloth at the first opportunity.
For Watches with Fluorescent Cases and Straps...
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade.
- Prolonged contact with moisture can cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade. If any moisture gets on the watch surface, wipe it off as soon as possible.
- Prolonged contact with any other wet surface can cause the fluorescent color to discolor. Check if the fluorescent surface is dry and avoid contact with other surfaces.
- Strong friction of a surface with applied fluorescent paint against another surface can transfer the fluorescent paint to that surface.
General Notes
- In conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This is a normal physical phenomenon and not a defect.
- CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur from the use of this watch, and does not accept any claims from third parties.
- Watches may differ slightly from the images in this manual.
- Some models use hands and rotating discs to display information. In this manual, the term "hands" refers to both analog hands and rotating discs.
Watch Diagram
The watch face includes the following components:
- Hour Hand
- Minute Hand
- Second Hand
- Stopwatch Second Hand
- Stopwatch 1/10-Second Hand
- Date Display
- Crown (B)
- Button A
- Button L
The crown has multiple positions: 1 click, 2 clicks.
Setting the Current Time
- When the second hand is at the 12 o'clock position, pull the crown out to position 2.
- Set the current time by turning the crown.
- Return the crown to its normal position.
Note:
- When setting the current time, consider AM and PM.
- Before finishing, advance the minute hand 4-5 minutes past the desired time, then set the exact time.
Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to position 1.
- Set the date by turning the crown.
- Return the crown to its normal position.
Note:
- The date display changes up to 31. For months with fewer than 31 days, you must manually change the date.
- To ensure the date changes correctly at midnight, do not set the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.
Crown Operations
Some water-resistant models (100m and 200m) are equipped with a screw-lock crown. Before performing operations with the crown, unscrew it to unlock by turning it towards you, then pull it out. Do not use excessive force when pulling out the crown. When the crown is unscrewed, the watch is no longer water-resistant. After completing the necessary operations, return the crown to its normal position, then screw it in to lock.
If Your Watch Has a Rotating Bezel...
Turn the bezel until the mark (▼) aligns with the minute hand. After some time, you will be able to tell how much time has passed since you aligned the mark with the minute hand.
Using the Stopwatch
The stopwatch can measure elapsed time in 1/10-second intervals. The measurement range is limited to 59 minutes and 59.9 seconds.
Measuring Elapsed Time
Sequence: Start (A) → Stop (A) → Repeat Start (A) → Stop (A) → Reset (B)
Measuring Lap Time
Sequence: Start (A) → Split (B) → Cancel Split (A) → Stop → Reset (B)
Displaying Split and Finish Times
Sequence: Start (A) → Split (B) [First Athlete Finished, Display First Athlete's Time] → Cancel Split (B) [Second Athlete Finished, Display Second Athlete's Time] → Reset (B)
The stopwatch operations involve pressing buttons A and B in sequence to start, stop, split, cancel splits, and reset the timer. Button A typically controls start/stop/cancel split, while Button B controls split/reset. The display shows elapsed time, split times, and finish times for multiple athletes.
Stopwatch Hand Correction
If the stopwatch hands do not return to the zero mark after resetting the measurements, perform the following correction procedures:
- Pull the crown out to position 2.
- Use Button A to move the stopwatch 1/10-second hand to the zero mark (clockwise). Hold Button A pressed for accelerated movement of the 1/10-second hand.
- Use Button B to move the stopwatch second hand to the zero mark (clockwise). Hold Button B pressed for accelerated movement of the second hand.
- The stopwatch minute hand moves in synchronization with the stopwatch second hand.
- After completing all stopwatch hand correction operations, return the crown to its normal position.
Caution: Current time measurement stops when the crown is pulled out. Reset the current time after completing stopwatch hand correction.
Backlight
To turn on the backlight, press and hold Button L.
Note:
- The backlight stays on as long as Button L is pressed.
- The backlight will turn off within 4 seconds after Button L is released.
Precautions for Backlight Use
- The backlight is difficult to see in bright sunlight.
- Frequent use of the backlight shortens battery life.
