READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FIRST

Battery

The battery installed in the watch at the factory discharges during delivery and storage. If you notice the first signs of insufficient power (e.g., dim display), the battery needs to be replaced at the nearest authorized CASIO service center or a CASIO distributor.

Water Resistance

For all categories of watches, it is prohibited to:

  • press buttons underwater;
  • change hands underwater;
  • unscrew the crown underwater.

If your watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it completely. Do not wear watches with leather straps while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.

Watches are classified by rating (from I to V) according to their level of water resistance. Check your watch's rating using the table below to determine its proper use.

Rating Case Marking Splashes, Rain, Washing etc. Swimming, Washing etc. Diving with Snorkel, Scuba Diving Diving with Aqualung
I - No No No No
II WATER RESISTANT Yes No No No
III 50 M WATER RESISTANT Yes Yes No No
IV 100 M WATER RESISTANT Yes Yes Yes No
V 200 M WATER RESISTANT / 300 M WATER RESISTANT Yes Yes Yes Yes

Notes:

  • 1 Watches are not water-resistant. Avoid exposure to any moisture.

Water Resistance Explanations

II WR (Water Resistant): Means the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause any problems.

III Water resistance to 5 Bar (50 meters): The watch can withstand the indicated water pressure and can be used while showering and for brief swimming.

IV Water resistance to 10 Bar (100 meters): The watch can be used for ordinary swimming and snorkeling.

V Water resistance to 20 Bar (200 meters): The watch can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).

Caring for Your Watch

  • Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself.
  • The rubber gasket protecting the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2 - 3 years.
  • If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by your nearest dealer or a CASIO distributor.
  • Do not expose the watch to extreme temperatures.
  • Although the watch is designed for active daily use, wear it carefully and avoid dropping it.
  • Do not fasten the strap too tightly. You should be able to fit a finger between your wrist and the strap.
  • To clean the watch and strap, use a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened with a solution of mild neutral detergent. Never use volatile substances (e.g., gasoline, solvents, spray cleaners, etc.).
  • When not using your watch, store it in a dry place.
  • Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, paints, etc. Chemical reactions caused by these materials can damage gaskets, the case, and the watch's finish.
  • Some watch models feature silk-screened graphics on their straps. Be careful when cleaning such straps to avoid damaging the designs.

For watches with plastic straps:

  • You may notice a white powdery substance on the strap. This substance is not harmful to your skin or clothing and can be easily removed by wiping with a cloth.
  • Exposure of plastic straps to sweat or moisture, or storing them in high humidity conditions, can lead to damage, tearing, or cracking. To ensure a long service life for plastic straps, wipe them clean of dirt and water with a soft cloth whenever possible.

For watches with fluorescent cases and straps:

  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause the fluorescent color to fade gradually.
  • Prolonged contact with moisture can cause the fluorescent color to fade gradually. If any moisture gets on the watch surface, wipe it off as soon as possible.
  • Prolonged contact with any other wet surface may cause the fluorescent color to discolor. Ensure the fluorescent surface is dry and avoid contact with other surfaces.
  • Rubbing a surface with fluorescent paint against another surface may transfer the fluorescent color to that surface.

When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This phenomenon is due to the laws of physics and is not a defect.

CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur from the use of this watch, and does not accept any claims from third parties.

The watch may differ slightly from the illustrations in this manual. Some watch models use hands and rotating discs to display information. In this manual, the term 'hands' refers to both analog hands and rotating discs.

SETTING THE CURRENT TIME

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click when the second hand is at the 12 o'clock position.
  2. Turn the crown to set the current time.
  3. Push the crown back to its normal position.

Note:

  • When setting the current time, pay attention to AM and PM.
  • Before finishing the time setting, move the minute hand 4-5 minutes past the desired time, then set it to the exact time.

SETTING THE DATE

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click.
  2. Turn the crown to set the date.
  3. Push the crown back to its normal position.

Note:

  • The date indicator changes up to 31. For months with fewer than 31 days, you must adjust the date manually.
  • To ensure the date changes correctly at midnight, do not set the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.

CROWN OPERATIONS

Some water-resistant models (100 and 200 m) are equipped with a screw-lock crown. Before operating the crown, unscrew it to unlock by turning it towards you, then pull it out. Do not use excessive force when pulling out the crown. When the crown is unscrewed, the watch is no longer water-resistant. After completing the necessary operations, return the crown to its normal position and screw it in to lock.

If your watch has a rotating bezel...

Turn the bezel to align a marker with the minute hand. After some time, you can tell how much time has passed since you aligned the marker with the minute hand.

USING THE STOPWATCH

You can use the stopwatch to measure elapsed time in 1-second increments. Elapsed time measurement is limited to 29 minutes 59 seconds (for modules 5434, 5451, 5541) or 9 minutes 59 seconds (for module 5490).

Stopwatch Operations

Measuring Laps: The process starts with [Start], followed by [Stop], then [Lap Start], another [Stop], and finally [Reset].

Measuring Split Time: The sequence is [Start], [Split], [Cancel Split], [Stop], and [Reset].

Displaying Split and 2 Finish Results: The flow is [Start], [Split] (Athlete 1 finishes, display Athlete 1's time), [Cancel Split] (Athlete 2 finishes, display Athlete 2's time), and [Reset].

STOPWATCH HAND CORRECTION

Attention! Do not use the stopwatch when the crown is pulled out.

Note: Time measurement will stop automatically after 30 minutes (for modules 5434, 5451, 5541) or 10 minutes (for module 5490) from the start of measurement.

If the stopwatch hands do not return to the zero position after resetting measurements, follow this procedure for correction:

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Use button A (clockwise) or button B (counter-clockwise) to move the stopwatch second and minute hands to the zero position.
    • Hold down one of these buttons for rapid movement of the stopwatch second hand. Releasing the button will stop the rapid movement.
    • The stopwatch minute hand moves in synchronization with the stopwatch second hand.
  3. After completing all stopwatch hand correction operations, return the crown to its normal position.

Attention! When the crown is pulled out, current time measurement stops. Correct the current time after finishing the stopwatch hand correction.
