Module Numbers: 5547, 5559, 5563, 5572

Applicable Models: EFR-557, EFR-558, EFR-559, EFV-540

Important Information

Battery

The battery installed at the factory may discharge during shipping and storage. When you notice signs of insufficient power (e.g., dim display), it is necessary to replace the battery at the nearest authorized CASIO service center or a CASIO distributor.

Water Resistance

For all categories of watches, the following are prohibited:

  • Pressing buttons underwater.
  • Changing hands underwater.
  • Unscrewing the crown underwater.

If the watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it. Do not wear watches with leather straps while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.

Water Resistance Ratings

Watches are classified by water resistance rating (from I to V). Refer to the table below to determine the correct usage for your watch.

RatingCase MarkingSplashes, Rain, SweatSwimming, WashingDivingScuba Diving
I-NoNoNoNo
IIWATER RESISTANTYesNoNoNo
III50 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesNoNo
IV100 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesNo
V200 M WATER RESISTANT / 300 M WATER RESISTANTYesYesYesYes

Notes:

  1. Watches are not protected from water. Avoid exposure to any moisture.

Understanding Water Resistance Ratings

II WR (Water Resistant): Indicates the model is waterproof according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause any problems.

III Water resistance 5 Bar (50 meters): The watch can withstand water pressure of the specified value and can be used during showers and brief swimming.

IV Water resistance 10 Bar (100 meters): The watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.

V Water resistance 20 Bar (200 meters): The watch can be used for scuba diving (excluding depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).

Watch Care

  • Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself.
  • The rubber gasket that protects the watch from water and dust should be replaced every 2-3 years.
  • If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by your nearest dealer or CASIO distributor.
  • Do not expose the watch to extreme temperatures.
  • While designed for active daily use, wear them carefully and avoid drops.
  • Do not fasten the strap too tightly. Ensure you can fit a finger between your wrist and the strap.
  • To clean the watch and strap, use a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened with a mild neutral detergent solution. Never use volatile agents (e.g., gasoline, solvents, spray cleaners).
  • When not in use, store your watch in a dry place.
  • Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosol sprays, adhesives, paint, etc. Chemical reactions caused by these materials can damage gaskets, cases, and the watch's polish.
  • Some models feature silk-screened images on the strap. Clean these straps carefully to avoid damaging the designs.

Care for Plastic Straps

You may find a white powdery substance on the strap. This substance is harmless to your skin or clothing and can be easily removed by wiping with a cloth.

Exposure of plastic straps to sweat or moisture, or storage in high humidity conditions, can lead to damage, tearing, or cracking of the strap. To ensure a long service life for the plastic strap, wipe off dirt and water with a soft cloth whenever possible.

Care for Fluorescent Cases and Straps

  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the fluorescent color to fade gradually.
  • Prolonged contact with moisture can cause the fluorescent color to fade. Wipe off any moisture from the watch surface as soon as possible.
  • Prolonged contact with any other damp surface can cause discoloration of the fluorescent color. Ensure the fluorescent surface is dry and avoid contact with other surfaces.
  • Strong friction of surfaces with applied fluorescent paint against other surfaces can transfer the fluorescent paint to that surface.

General Notes

When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation on the inner side of the glass is permissible. This phenomenon is due to the laws of physics and is not a defect.

CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur from the use of this watch and does not accept any claims from third parties.

Watches may differ slightly from the images shown in this manual.

Setting the Current Time

  1. When the second hand is at the 12 o'clock position, pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Turn the crown to set the current time.
  3. Return the crown to its original position.

Note:

  • Consider AM/PM when setting the time.
  • Before finishing time setting, move the minute hand 4-5 minutes past the desired time, then set the exact time.

Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click.
  2. Turn the crown towards you to set the date.
  3. Return the crown to its original position.

Note:

  • The date indicator changes up to 31. For months with fewer than 31 days, you must change the date manually.
  • To ensure the date changes correctly at midnight, do not change the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.

Operations with the Crown

Some water-resistant models (100m and 200m) feature a screw-down crown. Before operating the crown, unscrew it to unlock (turn towards you), then pull it out. Do not use excessive force when pulling the crown. When the crown is unscrewed, the watch loses its water resistance. After completing operations, return the crown to its original position and screw it in to lock.

Using the Rotating Bezel

Turn the bezel to align the mark ▼ with the minute hand. After some time, you can tell how much time has passed since the mark ▼ was aligned with the minute hand.

Using the Stopwatch

The stopwatch can measure elapsed time in 1-second intervals. The maximum measurement is 9 minutes and 59 seconds.

Measuring Elapsed Time

Start [▶️] -> Stop [⏸️] -> Restart [▶️] -> Stop [⏸️] -> Reset [?]

Measuring Lap Time

Start [▶️] -> Split [➿] -> Reset [?]

Displaying Lap and Split Results

Start [▶️] -> Split (Lap 1 finishes) -> Stop (Lap 2 finishes) -> Reset [?]

Description: Start, Split, First athlete finishes, Display first athlete's time, Second athlete finishes, Display second athlete's time, Reset.

Stopwatch Hand Correction

Caution: Do not use the stopwatch when the crown is pulled out.

Note: Elapsed time measurement will automatically stop after 10 minutes.

If stopwatch hands do not return to the zero position after resetting, perform the following correction:

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Use Button A (clockwise) or Button B (counter-clockwise) to move the stopwatch second and minute hands to the zero position.
    • Hold a button for rapid hand movement. Releasing the button stops rapid movement.
    • The stopwatch minute hand movement is synchronized with the stopwatch second hand movement.

3. After completing all stopwatch hand correction operations, return the crown to its original position.

Caution: When the crown is pulled out, timekeeping is suspended. You must reset the current time after completing stopwatch hand correction.

Low Battery Indicator

  • When the battery level is low, the second hand moves in 2-second intervals.
  • When the second hand starts moving in 2-second intervals, replace the battery as soon as possible.
  • The stopwatch does not work when the battery level is low.
  • If the battery level drops to low while the stopwatch is operating, stopwatch operation stops, and the stopwatch hands return to their home positions.
