Search Modes
The Manticore offers several search modes tailored for different environments and targets:
- Gold: Optimized for finding gold nuggets in mineralized ground.
- General: Suitable for most common detecting scenarios, including areas with trash, open fields, and historical sites.
- Beach: Designed for all conditions involving high salt content, such as dry sand, wet sand, submerged sand, and underwater environments.
- All-Terrain: Also suitable for general detecting, including trashy areas, open fields, and historical sites.
Each mode can be adjusted for characteristics like:
- Conductivity: Low Conductor [Icon], High Conductor [Icon]
- Depth: Deep [Icon]
- Trash Rejection: Trash Reject [Icon]
Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps to begin detecting:
- Power On: Press the power button [Power Icon].
- Select Search Mode: Navigate to and select your desired search mode using the navigation buttons [Settings Icon].
- Noise Cancel: Perform noise cancellation to optimize performance in your environment [Signal Icon].
- Search: Begin searching for targets [Magnifying Glass Icon].
Assembly
Assemble the Manticore detector by connecting the shaft sections. Ensure all cam locks are securely tightened to prevent slippage or loosening. If a cam lock becomes loose, retighten it.
Charging
The Manticore requires 7-8 hours for a full charge. Use a high-quality USB charger with a minimum rating of 2A @ 5V. Ensure your charger displays the CE, EAC, and Intertek marks. Charging should only be performed within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to +40°C. Connect via USB-A or USB-C ports.
Controls and Display
Familiarize yourself with the detector's controls and display elements:
Controls:
- Power Button: Turns the device on and off.
- Settings Menu Button: Press the [Up Arrow] button from the detection screen to access the settings menu.
- Sensitivity Adjustment: Use the [Up Arrow] and [Down Arrow] buttons on the detection screen to adjust sensitivity.
- Pinpoint Mode: Press the [Down Arrow] button on the detection screen to toggle pinpoint mode.
- Action Bar Soft Keys (x2): These keys perform actions based on the current screen or settings.
- Navigation Arrows (x4): Used for navigating menus and adjusting settings.
Display Elements:
- Charging Status LED: Indicates the charging status of the battery.
- Large Target Overload: An indicator for signals from very large targets.
- Search Mode: Displays the currently selected search mode.
- Frequency: Shows the operating frequency.
- Sensitivity: Displays the current sensitivity level.
- Volume: Shows the current audio volume.
- Backlight/Brightness: Allows adjustment of the screen's brightness.
- Wireless Audio: Indicates if wireless audio is active.
- Headphone Connection: Shows the status of the headphone connection.
- Battery Level/Charging: Displays the remaining battery power and charging status.
- Target ID Number: A numerical value representing the detected target's conductivity.
- Conductivity ID: A numerical value indicating the target's conductivity.
- Iron Mask: A setting to ignore iron targets.
- Salt Indicator (Beach mode only): Displays salt content in beach environments.
- Target Depth Display: Estimates the depth of the detected target.
- 10 Map: A visual representation of target signals.
- Iron Mask / Target Trace: Displays target characteristics, including shape (e.g., coin, nail).
- Target Prospect Scale Conductivity: A scale from 0 to 99 representing target conductivity.
