Minelab Vanquish 340 Quick Start Guide
Getting Started
Follow these simple steps to begin using your Vanquish 340 metal detector:
- Turn On: Press the power button ⏻.
- Wait: Allow approximately 5 seconds for the detector to boot up.
- Go Detecting: Your detector is ready for use.
Assembly
The Vanquish 340 is designed for easy assembly. Follow these steps, referencing the parts diagram:
- Assemble the lower shaft, which includes the handgrip and trigger mechanism (part 1).
- Attach the search coil (part 10) to the end of the lower shaft.
- Connect the upper shaft sections (part 8) to the lower shaft.
- Adjust the length of the assembled shaft using the upper shaft mechanism (part 4).
- Insert four AA batteries (shown as AA x4) into the battery compartment of the control box (part 7).
- Connect the cable from the search coil to the control box.
- The control box (part 7) houses the electronics and display.
Controls
The control panel allows you to manage your detector's settings.
Control Panel Layout:

- Turns the detector on and off.
- ? 2. Volume Adjust:
- Increases or decreases the audio volume.
- ⚙️ 3. Sensitivity Adjust:
- Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to targets.
Display
The display screen provides information about detected targets and detector status.
Display Indicators:
- 4. Search Mode Indicator:
- Shows the currently selected search mode (Coin, Jewellery, All Metal).
- 5. Target ID Indicator:
- Provides a visual cue for the type of metal detected.
- ? 6. Battery Level:
- Indicates the remaining battery power.
- 7. Volume Level:
- Shows the current audio volume setting.
- 8. Sensitivity Level:
- Displays the current sensitivity setting.
- 9. Target ID Number:
- A numerical value representing the conductivity of the detected target.
- 10. Depth Indicator:
- Estimates the depth of the detected target.
- 11. Search Modes:
- Indicates the selection of available search modes.
- 12. Discrimination Adjust:
- Allows you to set the level of discrimination, ignoring unwanted targets.
Search Modes
The Vanquish 340 offers three distinct search modes:
- Coin Mode ?: Designed to find coins from around the world while effectively ignoring common trash metals found in parks and on beaches.
- Jewellery Mode ?: Helps you locate valuable jewellery, even if it has been lost or buried for a long time.
- All Metal Mode ?: Detects all types of metal objects, including ferrous metals like iron.
