TONSTAD Storage Cabinet Assembly Instructions

Safety Warnings

⚠️ WARNING: Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over.

ALWAYS secure this furniture to the wall using tip-over restraints.

To further reduce the risk of serious injury and death from tip-overs:

  • Place heaviest items in the lower drawer.
  • Do not set TVs or other heavy objects on top of this product.
  • Never let children climb or hang on drawers, doors, or shelves.

The following parts and hardware are included for assembly:

Tools required (not included): Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead), pencil, hammer, drill, drill bits (Ø 8 mm (5/16") and Ø 3 mm (1/8")).

Assembly Steps

Step 1: Prepare Base Panels

Take two base panels (likely the bottom and lower back panels). Insert 6x Part 10127303 (cam lock housings) into the pre-drilled holes on each panel. Secure them using 6x Part 10048881 (screws) per panel. Ensure the housings are oriented correctly.

Step 2: Attach Wall Mounting Brackets

On the back of the main cabinet side panels, attach the wall mounting brackets (Part 106989) using 2x Part 109049 (screws) and 2x Part 100823 (washers/screws) per bracket. Ensure they are securely fastened.

Step 3: Connect First Side Panel to Base

Take one main side panel and align its bottom edge with the prepared base panel from Step 1. Insert the cam locks (Part 120076) into the corresponding holes on the side panel and rotate them to engage with the housings (Part 10127303) on the base panel, securing the connection.

Step 4: Connect Second Side Panel to Base

Repeat Step 3 for the second main side panel, connecting it to the other side of the base panel using cam locks (Part 120076) and housings (Part 10127303).

Step 5: Attach Internal Dividers to Side Panels

Take the internal divider panels. Align them with the pre-drilled holes on the inside of the side panels. Insert dowels (Part 10096669) and secure with cam lock housings (Part 113434) and cam locks (Part 120076) as indicated.

Step 6: Attach Remaining Internal Dividers

Continue attaching the remaining internal divider panels to the side panels and previously attached dividers, using dowels and cam lock systems.

Step 7: Attach Back Panels

Slide the thin back panels into the grooves provided on the rear edges of the side and base panels. Ensure they are fully seated.

Step 8: Install Drawer Runners on Cabinet

Attach the drawer runner brackets (Parts 151705 and 151706) to the inside of the cabinet side panels and internal dividers using the provided screws (e.g., Part 10048881 or similar). Pay close attention to the orientation and placement indicated in the diagram.

Step 9: Prepare Top Panels

Insert dowels (Part 101350) into the top edges of the side panels and internal dividers. Place the top panels onto the structure, aligning the holes with the dowels.

Step 10: Secure Top Panels

Secure the top panels by inserting cam locks (Part 120076) into the underside of the top panels and rotating them to lock onto the cam lock housings (Part 113434) in the side and divider panels.

Step 11: Attach Support Beams

Attach the support beams (Part 153549) to the underside of the top structure using screws (Part 118331).

Step 12: Add More Dowels

Insert additional dowels (Part 101350) into designated holes on the structure, preparing for further assembly.

Step 13: Assemble Cabinet Frame

Continue assembling the main cabinet frame by connecting various panels using the provided hardware, likely involving cam lock systems (e.g., 10083447/10091526).

Further assemble the cabinet frame, ensuring all connections are secure.

Step 15: Attach Cam Lock Housings

Attach the remaining cam lock housings (Part 113434) to the appropriate panels as shown.

Step 16: Attach Drawer Runner Brackets

Attach the remaining drawer runner brackets (Parts 151705 and 151706) to the cabinet structure. Ensure correct placement and orientation.

Step 17: Insert Dowels

Insert dowels (Part 101350) into designated holes on the structure, preparing for further assembly.

Step 18: Attach Drawer Front Runners

Attach the drawer front runner components (Parts 151705 and 151706) to the drawer front panels using screws (e.g., Part 10048881 or similar). Ensure they are aligned correctly with the drawer front.

Step 19: Attach Drawer Front Support

Attach the drawer front support piece (Part 153549) to the drawer front assembly using screws (Part 106603).

Step 20: Attach Drawer Bottom Supports

Secure the drawer bottom supports using screws (Part 159991).

Step 21: Adjust Leveling Feet

Screw the leveling feet into the base of the cabinet. These can be adjusted later to ensure the cabinet is stable on uneven floors.

Step 22: Attach Drawer Slides to Cabinet

Attach the main drawer slides to the cabinet interior, aligning them with the previously installed brackets. Use screws (e.g., Part 10048881) to secure them.

Step 23: Position Cabinet

Carefully move the assembled cabinet to its final location. Ensure it is positioned correctly before proceeding with wall mounting.

Step 24: Wall Mounting Instructions

Important: This furniture must be permanently fixed to the wall with the tip-over restraint provided to prevent it from tipping over. Use the supplied screws and plugs for most solid (A) and hollow (B) walls. For solid wood (C), use screws without plugs. If you are uncertain about your wall type or the correct fixings, seek professional advice.

Wall Type A (Solid Wall): Drill a hole with Ø 8 mm (5/16") bit. Insert the plug. Screw the bracket into the plug. The depth should be approximately 70 mm (2 3/4").

Wall Type B (Hollow Wall): Drill a hole with Ø 8 mm (5/16") bit. Insert the plug. Screw the bracket into the plug. The depth should be approximately 30 mm (1 1/4").

Wall Type C (Solid Wood): Drill a pilot hole with Ø 3 mm (1/8") bit. Screw the bracket directly into the wood. The depth should be approximately 30 mm (1 1/4").

Step 25: Attach Wall Mount Fixings to Cabinet

Attach the wall mount fixings (Part 109567 and 100823) to the back of the cabinet, aligning with the wall mounting brackets.

Step 26: Assemble Drawer Sides

Assemble the sides of the drawer boxes. This involves connecting drawer side panels using dowels and cam lock systems.

Step 27: Attach Drawer Back Panel

Connect the drawer back panel to the assembled drawer sides.

Step 28: Attach Drawer Slide Components

Attach the drawer slide components (Part 10096669) to the sides of the drawer boxes using screws (e.g., Part 10048881).

Step 29: Attach Drawer Front Runners

Attach the drawer front runner guides (Part 120076) to the drawer front panels using screws.

Step 30: Attach Drawer Front Handle/Mechanism

Attach the drawer front handle mechanism or support (Part 106603) using screws (e.g., Part 10083447/10091526).

Step 31: Insert Drawer Slides into Cabinet

Align the drawer slides on the drawer boxes with the corresponding slides inside the cabinet and push the drawers in.

Step 32: Insert Drawers and Secure

Insert the assembled drawers into the cabinet. You will hear a 'click' when they are properly seated. Ensure the drawer slides are correctly engaged.

The cabinet is now assembled with its internal structure.

Step 34: Insert Drawer Fronts

Slide the drawer fronts onto the assembled drawer boxes, aligning them with the runners.

Step 35: Secure Drawer Fronts

Secure the drawer fronts to the drawer boxes using the provided mechanism (e.g., cam locks and screws). You will hear a 'click' when they are properly locked.

Insert the fully assembled drawers into the cabinet, ensuring they slide smoothly.
