TONSTAD Chest of 4 Drawers
Safety Warnings
WARNING: Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over.
ALWAYS secure this furniture to the wall using tip-over restraints.
To further reduce the risk of serious injury and death from tip-overs:
- Place heaviest items in the lower drawer.
- Do not set TVs or other heavy objects on top of this product.
- Never let children climb or hang on drawers, doors, or shelves.

Tools and Hardware for Wall Mounting
You will need the following tools:
- Screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead)
- Hammer
- Drill
- Drill bits: Ø 8 mm (5/16") and Ø 3 mm (1/8")
The following hardware is included for wall mounting:
- Screws (various types and sizes)
- Wall plugs (for solid and hollow walls)
- Wall brackets
Diagrams show how to drill holes, insert wall plugs, and secure the furniture to different types of walls (A: Solid wall, B: Hollow wall, C: Solid wood). For solid wood, use screws without plugs.
Diagrams also show figures handling wooden panels, with one indicating a prohibition against improper handling.
Wall Anchoring Instructions
To prevent furniture tip-over, it is crucial to secure the furniture to the wall using the provided restraints.
For Solid Walls (A):
Drill a hole with Ø 8 mm (5/16") drill bit. Insert the wall plug and then the screw.
For Hollow Walls (B):
Drill a hole with Ø 8 mm (5/16") drill bit. Insert the wall plug and then the screw.
For Solid Wood (C):
Drill a hole with Ø 3 mm (1/8") drill bit. Use the screw without a wall plug.
If you are uncertain about the wall type or correct installation, seek professional advice.
The following hardware is used for wall anchoring:
- 2x Screws (109567)
- 2x Wall plugs (10087223)
- 2x Screws (109049)
- 4x Washers (100823)
- 2x Wall brackets (106989)
Diagrams illustrate the process for each wall type, including recommended drilling depths (e.g., approx. 70 mm (2 3/4") for solid walls, approx. 30 mm (1 1/4") for hollow walls).

Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble your TONSTAD chest of drawers.
Step 1
Attach drawer slide runners (part 10127303) to the side panels using 8x screws (part 100347). Ensure correct orientation for left (L) and right (R) sides.
Step 2
Connect the base panel to the side panels using 4x screws (10040201) and 2x connectors/dowels (153552).
Step 3
Assemble the drawer fronts and sides. Connect the panels as shown in the diagram.
Step 4
Attach additional drawer slide runners to the main frame.
Step 5
Attach another set of drawer slide runners using 2x screws (100347) and bracket (158473).
Step 6
Attach a wall bracket (part 106989) to a panel using 2x screws (109049) and 4x washers (100823). This is part of the tip-over restraint system.
Step 7
Continue assembling the main frame of the unit.
Step 8
Insert 6x dowels (part 10038707) into the pre-drilled holes on the top panel.
Step 9
Insert 4x dowels (part 10038707) into the pre-drilled holes on another panel.
Step 10
Attach the top panel to the main frame, aligning the dowels with the corresponding holes.
Step 11
Attach the back panel to the unit using 4x screws (parts 151705 and 151706).
Step 12
Continue securing the back panel with the provided screws.
Step 13
Attach drawer slide mechanisms to the inside of the unit using 2x screws (parts 151706 and 151705).
Step 14
Attach the top panel securely using the wrench-like tool (part 190459) and 4x screws.
Step 15
Attach the wall bracket assembly to the furniture, ensuring it is correctly positioned.
Step 16
The main unit with the back panel attached is shown. (Note: 'X' may indicate a step or part not applicable).
Step 17
Wall anchoring details: Use screws and plugs appropriate for your wall type (A, B, or C). For solid wood (C), use screws without plugs.
Step 18
Attach the wall bracket (part 106989) to the furniture using 2x screws (part 100823) and 2x screws (part 109567).
Step 19
Begin assembling the drawers. Connect the drawer fronts and sides. You will assemble 3x drawers of one configuration and 1x of another.
Step 20
Attach a panel to the drawer assembly.
Step 21
Complete the drawer assembly using 4x screws (part 145718).
Step 22
Attach drawer runners/connectors (part 119030) to the assembled drawers using 4x of these components per drawer.
Step 23
Insert the drawer slide mechanisms into the main unit. Arrows indicate the direction of insertion.
Step 24
Insert the assembled drawers into the unit. Listen for a "Click!" sound to confirm they are properly seated. ⚠️ A warning icon indicates the importance of securing the furniture to the wall to prevent tip-over.
