Assembly Guide
This guide outlines the steps to assemble your IKEA MALM 3-drawer chest. Please identify all parts and hardware before beginning. You will typically need screwdrivers, a hammer, and a drill.
Building the Main Cabinet Frame
- Attach metal brackets (2x) to the side panels using screws (28x).
- Assemble the base structure by connecting the base panels using screws (4x).
- Attach vertical supports to the base panels using screws (6x).
- Attach the drawer runners to the inside of the side panels using screws (3x).
- Attach the back support bar using screws (2x) and an additional bracket using screws (1x).
- Connect the side panels to the base structure using cam locks (3x).
- Attach the back panel using screws (6x).
- Attach the wall mounting brackets to the top and side panels using screws.
- Place the assembled frame upright and secure it with screws (4x).
- Attach the top panel to the frame and secure it using cam locks (6x).
Assembling the Drawers
Repeat the following steps for each drawer:
- Attach drawer runners to the sides of each drawer box (2x per drawer).
- Assemble the drawer box by connecting the drawer sides, bottom, front, and back panels using the provided screws and cam locks. Ensure the bottom panel slides into the grooves and is secured.
- Attach the drawer top panel.
- Secure the drawer assembly with the appropriate hardware.
Final Steps and Wall Mounting
- Insert the assembled drawers into the main cabinet frame. Check that they slide smoothly.
