Placement and Configuration
The Chthonic Fuzz is designed to be placed first in your effects chain. This allows it to interact effectively with your guitar's pickups and volume control. For best results, slightly lower your guitar's volume knob; settings around 7 or 8 can yield a pleasant overdrive, while a setting of 5 can produce clean, bright tones. This sensitivity also means the pedal reacts to cable capacitance, so keep the cable to the Chthonic's input as short as possible. It is also recommended to avoid placing buffered pedals before the Chthonic, as this can affect the tone.
To configure the DOD Chthonic Fuzz, start with all controls set to 12:00 (noon). Adjust to your preference. If the sound is too extreme, try lowering the Fuzz and Lustre controls. Optimal settings will vary based on your instrument's output level, your amplifier, and your playing style.
