DOD Chthonic Fuzz
A versatile guitar effects pedal designed to deliver classic fuzz tones with modern clarity.
Controls
The DOD Chthonic Fuzz features a straightforward control layout:
- 1. Fuzz Control: Adjusts the intensity of the fuzz effect. Turn left for less fuzz, right for more.
- 2. Output Control: Sets the overall output level of the pedal.
- 3. Lustre Control: Modifies high frequencies after the main distortion stages, allowing for tone shaping.
- 4. Input Connector: Connect your instrument or the output of another effect pedal here.
- 5. Output Connector: Connect this to your amplifier's input or to other effects in your signal chain.
- 6. LED Power Indicator: Illuminates when the pedal is active.
- 7. Footswitch: Engages or disengages the effect.
- 8. Power Supply Connector: Accepts a 9VDC PS0913BDC power supply (optional).
Placement
The Chthonic Fuzz is designed to be placed first in your guitar signal chain. This placement allows it to interact optimally with guitar pickups and the instrument's volume control. Rolling back the guitar volume can produce clean tones or a nice overdrive. The pedal is sensitive to cable capacitance, so use the shortest possible cable for the input. Avoid placing pedals with buffers before the Chthonic Fuzz, as this can affect its tone.
Setup
Begin by setting all controls (Fuzz, Lustre, Output) to their midpoint (12:00). Adjust to taste. If the sound is too extreme, reduce the Fuzz and Lustre controls. Optimal settings will vary based on your instrument's output, amplifier, and playing style.
