Product Overview
The DOD Chthonic Fuzz is a guitar effects pedal designed to deliver versatile fuzz tones. It offers intuitive controls for shaping the fuzz intensity, output level, and high-frequency response, providing musicians with a wide range of sonic possibilities.
Controls and Features
- 1. Fuzz Control: Adjusts the intensity of the fuzz effect. Turn left for less fuzz, right for more.
- 2. Output Control: Sets the overall output level of the pedal.
- 3. Lustre Control: Allows the user to reduce high frequencies after the main distortion stages of the pedal.
- 4. Input Jack: Connect your instrument or the output of another effect pedal to this input.
- 5. Output Jack: Connect to your amplifier or other effects.
- 6. Power LED Indicator: Illuminates when the pedal is active.
- 7. Footswitch: Press to engage or disengage the effect.
- 8. Power Connector: Connect a 9V DC power supply (PS0913BDC optional) to this connector.
Positioning and Settings
Positioning
The Chthonic Fuzz is designed to be placed first in your signal chain to interact optimally with guitar pickups and volume controls. Lowering your guitar's volume slightly will yield the best results. Setting the guitar's volume to 7 or 8 allows the Chthonic to clean up into a nice overdrive, while a setting of 5 produces clean and bright tones. The pedal is sensitive to cable capacitance; use the shortest possible cable for the input. Avoid placing other pedals before the Chthonic, as their buffers can affect the tone.
Settings
Begin with all controls set to 12:00 (midpoint). Adjust to taste. If the result is too extreme, lower the Fuzz and Lustre controls. Optimal settings depend on your instrument's output, amplifier, and playing style.
