Assembly Instructions

Front Wheel Installation

The front wheel utilizes a Snap Button locking system.

  1. Unlock the release lever (as shown in Figure 1a).
  2. Unfold the stroller frame by pulling backward on the handle. Lean the stroller backward so it rests on the handle and rear axle frame, with the front wheel forks pointing upward (as shown in Figure 1b).
  3. Slide the front wheel housings onto the front fork (as shown in Figure 2).
  4. Ensure the front fork clicks into place in the front wheel housings (as shown in Figure 3). Check that the snap buttons pop out fully. NEVER use the jogger if the snap buttons are not clicked into place.
  5. Removal: Press the tabs inside the front wheel housings to remove the front forks from the wheel (as shown in Figure 4).

Rear Wheel Installation

  1. Lean the stroller forward to rest on the front wheel.
  2. To attach the rear wheels, push each wheel's axle into the plastic corner fitting. Depress the metal lever on the inside of the corner fitting as you push the axle in. When the wheel won't go further, release the lever.
  3. Check that the wheel is locked by pulling on it. If not locked, lift the lever, push the wheel further, and release the lever.
  4. Ensure wheels are firmly locked. NEVER use the stroller if wheels are not locked.

Child Tray Installation

WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the child tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.

  1. To attach: Push the angled tray onto the post at the end of the right armrest, pressing the snap button downward until locked (as shown in Figure 6a). Rotate the tray downward until latched onto the left armrest. Ensure the snap button comes through and securely latches the tray (as shown in Figure 6b).
  2. To Access Child Seat: Press the left side tray release button and rotate the tray upward (as shown in Figure 7).
  3. To Remove Child Tray: Press the release button, rotate the tray 180 degrees, and pull to release (as shown in Figure 7).

Seatback Positioning

To recline the seat, press adjustment tabs and pull down while holding the hoop. To place the seat in an upright position, hold the hoop and push the adjustment upward. The strap will lock automatically (as shown in Figure 8). The upright position should be used only for a child at least 6 months old. Always readjust the safety harness, including shoulder belts, when repositioning the seatback.

Parent Tray Installation

WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the parent tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.

  1. To attach: Align fittings on the ends of the parent tray with fittings on the outside of the handle. Hook the hole in the parent tray. Pull outward on the opposite end while pushing down on the tray until locked onto the stroller handle. Be careful not to pinch fingers (as shown in Figure 9).
  2. To Remove: Pull outward on one end of the tray while lifting upward.

Storage Basket

  1. Wrap the 2 straps on the basket rear around the rear axle and snap them closed (as shown in Figure 10). NOTE: Ensure all snaps are secure before use.

Canopy Installation

  1. If not installed: Insert the canopy into the stroller frame, ensuring both sides click in (as shown in Figure 11a).
  2. NOTE: Check subsequent steps (as shown in Figures 11b-11c) for proper installation. Adjust as needed. Wrap the elastic around the stroller frame to band and catch. Attach hook and loop on both sides of the canopy (as shown in Figure 11b).
  3. Use the buttons to attach the straps to the rear of the seat fabric (as shown in Figure 11c).
  4. To Open Canopy: Pull forward on the front edge.
  5. To Close Canopy: Push backward on the front edge towards the handle (as shown in Figure 11d).

Infant Car Seat Installation

WARNING: Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out; always use the Infant Car Seat harness.

ATTENTION: CS01 EZ-Lift, CS02 EZ-Lift PLUS, and CS03 EZ-Lift PRO Infant Car Seats must attach to the stroller's front seat module. These models require child tray and seat back adjustment to the most reclined position. Refer to step 13 for seat position adjustments.

  1. Close the canopy as needed to accommodate the car seat (as shown in Figure 12a).
  2. Align the car seat module with the inner frame connectors. Rest the car seat's lower rear against the angle point of the tray. Latch the module into the stroller frame, pressing firmly until it clicks.
  3. ALWAYS ensure the car seat is properly connected and locked onto the stroller before each use by lifting on the car seat handle (as shown in Figure 12b).

Removing the Car Seat

  1. NOTE: Set handle to the carry position (as shown in Figure 12c).
  2. Squeeze the release handle located at the top-rear of the car seat and lift away from the stroller (as shown in Figure 12d).

Other Compatible Car Seats

Follow these steps for compatible car seats:

  1. Put the stroller seat in the full recline position (See Figure 8). Turn car seat support tabs on the stroller frame (as shown in Figure 13a). These tabs are only for infant car seats. Ensure the front child tray is firmly attached to the stroller armrests.
  2. Position the infant car seat to face the rear of the stroller. Push the car seat into the front tray until it latches. The rear of the car seat rests on the support tabs. Put the stroller seat in the most upright position for additional support (See Figure 8).
  3. Always secure the single short clip over the infant car seat through the belt path (as shown in Figure 13c). Ensure the short clip is tightly fastened.

Removing Infant Car Seat (Alternative Method)

  1. Remove the short clip (as shown in Figure 13d).
  2. Squeeze the release handle at the foot-end of the seat and carefully lift upward (as shown in Figure 13e).
  3. Applies to all models: Rotate the support tabs up when not using the car seat (as shown in Figure 13f).

Fender Installation

To secure the fender, use the 4 provided screws. Skip if preassembled.

  1. Align the 4 holes under the fender with the 4 holes on the tubes of the front frame assembly (as shown in Figure 18a).
  2. Place the front fender and press onto the front frame assembly (as shown in Figure 18a).
  3. Insert the 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the fender's plastic tubes. Tighten screws until snug (as shown in Figure 18b). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Safety Features and Usage

Brakes

WARNING: Always set brakes when the stroller is not being pushed to prevent it from rolling away. Never leave the stroller unattended on a hill or incline.

To engage brakes, apply light downward pressure to the brake lever on each rear wheel. You may need to move the stroller slightly forward or backward to align brake teeth with the wheel brake cluster (as shown in Figure 14). Check that the stroller does not move and brakes are applied. To release, lift the brake lever.

Front Wheel Lock

WARNING: FALL HAZARD: Lock the front wheel from swiveling before running, jogging, or walking fast to prevent tip-over.

The front wheels have a swivel locking device. Push the button upward to engage locks and downward to disengage (as shown in Figure 15).

Testing for Proper Wheel Installation

WARNING: FALL HAZARD: ALWAYS check the double nut locking system before each use to ensure the front wheel is securely fastened to the frame.

  1. Lift the front of the stroller off the ground and pull down on the wheel to ensure it is secure (as shown in Figure 16). The wheel must not come off.
  2. If the front wheel wobbles excessively, adjust the front wheel housing nut located under the fender. Reverse Step 18 to remove the fender. Use a standard crescent wrench to tighten the nut. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, as this can damage the wheel housing (as shown in Figure 17).

Securing the Child

WARNING: Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness.

STRANGULATION HAZARD: Children can strangle in loose straps. Never leave a child in the seat when straps are loose or undone.

  1. The 5-point harness shoulder straps have 3 attachment positions. Select the position that places the shoulder strap level with, or below, the top of the child's shoulder (as shown in Figure 19a).
  2. Carefully place the child in the stroller seat. Bring the safety harness around the child's waist and over the shoulders. Place the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male end of each shoulder/waist belt into the buckle on the crotch strap. Tighten the harness to be snug around the child's waist and over the child's shoulders (as shown in Figure 19b).

Releasing the Child

  1. To release: Push the Red Button on the Center Clasp; the two Harness Buckles will pop free (as shown in Figure 20).
  2. Unhook the shoulder straps only if adjusting harness positions (as shown in Figure 21).

Jogging with Your Stroller

WARNING: Never jog or run with your newborn in the car seat position. Use for strolling only.

STRANGULATION HAZARD: Children have strangled when straps have wrapped around their neck. When not in use, hook the tether strap onto the stroller handle. Keep this tether strap out of children's reach.

When jogging, use the following safety features:

  • LOCK THE FRONT SWIVEL WHEEL IN STRAIGHT POSITION.
  • SAFETY WRIST STRAP: Always connect the safety strap to your wrist when jogging. This strap prevents the stroller from rolling away if you trip. The strap must remain connected to the rear lower frame cross member. It includes a Velcro attachment for storage when not in use (as shown in Figures 23a, 23b).

Folding the Stroller

WARNING: Care must be taken when folding to prevent finger entrapment.

CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while folding.

  1. Close the canopy. Recline the seat by releasing the buckle (as described in seatback positioning).
  2. Fold the stroller by simultaneously pulling each trigger fold (as shown in Figure 24a). When fold latches release, the handle will fall. Release fold buttons and press downward on the handle until the stroller is completely folded.
  3. Secure the stroller in the folded position by locking the fold latch on the right side over the frame rivet (as shown in Figure 24b).

Unfolding the Stroller

WARNING: Care must be taken when unfolding to prevent finger entrapment.

PRECAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while unfolding.

  1. Stand the stroller on the ground with all three wheels touching. Release the folding latch on the right side (as shown in Figure 25a).
  2. Lift the stroller handle with both hands until the frame is erected and locked in the open position (as shown in Figure 25b). The stroller has spring-loaded latches on both sides.
  3. NOTE: Test that both latches are fully engaged before placing your child in the stroller.

Maintenance

General Maintenance

Tire Pressure: Check pressure before use. Tires are shipped un-inflated. Inflate regularly to the P.S.I. specified on each tire.

  • NOTE: Only use a hand pump.
  • DO NOT USE an air compressor.
  • DO NOT INFLATE above the maximum recommended pressure.

Fender

Refer to step 25 for replacement purposes.

  1. Examine the bottom of the front fender; you will see four 1/4 inch diameter plastic tubes protruding (as shown in Figure 27a).
  2. Line up these tubes with the holes in the front frame assembly (as shown in Figure 27b).
  3. Place the front fender and press onto the front frame assembly (as shown in Figure 27c).
  4. Insert 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the fender's plastic tubes. Tighten screws until snug (as shown in Figure 27d). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Wheel Adjustment

Strollers can deviate from a straight line due to factors like uneven tire pressure, improper wheel installation, road conditions, etc. If your Baby Trend stroller pulls significantly left or right on flat terrain, follow instructions on page 24 to realign your front wheel.

Flat Tire

The jogging stroller uses bicycle tires. If you get a flat tire, you can use a standard bicycle tire repair kit or take it to a bicycle shop. Consider purchasing thorn-proof inner tubes for frequent flats. The correct tire size is shown on the sidewall.
