IMPORTANT! To ensure safe operation, follow these instructions carefully. Keep for future reference.

IMPORTANT! Before assembly and each use, inspect for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. NEVER use if parts are missing or broken.

IMPORTANT! Adult assembly is required. Keep children away during unpacking and assembly.

Front Wheel Installation

WARNING: This wheel uses a front wheel double nut locking system. Follow all instructions carefully for child safety. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.

  1. Unlock the release lever (See Figure 1a, showing the release lever).
  2. Unfold stroller frame by pulling backward on the stroller handle. Lean the stroller backward so it rests on the handle and rear axle frame, with the front wheel forks pointing upward (See Figure 1b, illustrating the unfolded frame with upward-pointing forks).
  3. If preassembled, skip to Step 5. Slide the front wheel onto the front forks (See Figure 2, showing wheel sliding onto forks).
  4. Ensure both front forks click into place on the front wheel housing (See Figure 3, showing the click mechanism).
  5. Removal: To remove the front wheel, press the tabs inside the front wheel housing and remove the front forks from the wheel (See Figure 4, illustrating the removal process with tabs and removal action).

Rear Wheel Installation

  1. Lean the stroller forward to rest on the front wheel. To attach rear wheels, push each wheel's axle into the plastic corner fitting (See Figure 5, showing axle insertion into fitting). Depress the metal lever on the inside of the corner fitting while pushing the axle in. When the wheel won't go further, release the lever. Check wheel lock by pulling on it. If not locked, lift the lever, push the wheel further, and release.
  2. Ensure wheels are firmly locked. NEVER use the stroller if wheels are not locked.

Child Tray

WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the child tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.

  1. To attach the child tray: Push the angled tray onto the post at the end of the right armrest, pressing downward on the snap button until locked (See Figure 6a, showing tray attachment to armrest, and Figure 6b, showing underside view and secure latch). Rotate the tray downward until latched onto the left armrest. Ensure the snap button securely latches the tray.
  2. To access the child seat: Press the left side tray release button inward and rotate the tray upward (See Figure 7, illustrating tray release and upward rotation).
  3. To remove the child tray: Press the release button, rotate the tray 180 degrees, and pull until released (See Figure 7).

Seatback Positioning

To recline the seat, press adjustment tabs and pull down while holding the hoop. To place the seat in an upright position, hold the hoop and push the adjustment upward; the strap will lock automatically (See Figure 8, showing seatback adjustment). The upright position is for children at least 6 months old. Always re-adjust the safety harness, including shoulder belts, when repositioning the seatback.

Parent Tray

WARNING: Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the parent tray. Serious burns or unstable conditions could result.

  1. To attach the parent tray: Align fittings on the tray ends with fittings on the outside of the handle. Hook the tray's hole. Pull outward on the opposite end while pushing down on the tray until locked onto the stroller handle (See Figure 9, illustrating parent tray attachment). Be careful not to pinch fingers. To remove, pull outward on one end while lifting upward.

Storage Basket

  1. Wrap the 2 straps on the basket rear around the rear axle and snap closed (See Figure 10, showing strap attachment to axle). NOTE: Ensure all snaps are secure before use.

Canopy

  1. If not already installed: Insert the canopy into the stroller frame, ensuring both sides click in (See Figure 11a, showing canopy insertion).
  2. NOTE: Check following steps (Figures 11b-11c) for proper installation. Adjust as needed. Wrap elastic around the stroller frame to band and catch. On both sides, attach hook and loop fasteners (See Figure 11b, showing hook and loop attachment).
  3. Use buttons to attach straps to the rear of the seat fabric (See Figure 11c, showing strap attachment to seat fabric).
  4. To open the canopy: Pull forward on the front edge. To close: Push backward on the front edge towards the handle (See Figure 11d, illustrating canopy opening/closing).

Infant Car Seat Installation

WARNING: Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out; always use the Infant Car Seat harness.

ATTENTION: CS01 EZ-Lift, CS02 EZ-Lift PLUS, and CS03 EZ-Lift PRO Infant Car Seats must attach to the stroller's front seat module. These models require child tray and seat back adjustment to the most reclined position. Refer to Step 13 for seat position adjustments.

  1. Close the canopy as needed to accommodate the car seat (See Figure 12a, showing canopy closure).
  2. Align the car seat module with the inner frame connectors. Rest the car seat's lower rear against the tray's angle point. Latch the module into the stroller frame; press firmly until it clicks. ALWAYS ensure the car seat is properly connected and locked before each use by lifting on the car seat handle (See Figure 12b, illustrating module alignment, angle point, and secure latching).

Removing the Car Seat

  1. NOTE: Set handle to the carry position (See Figure 12c, showing handle position). Squeeze the release handle at the top-rear of the car seat and lift away from the stroller (See Figure 12d, illustrating handle release and removal).

Other Compatible Car Seats

  1. Put the stroller seat in the full recline position (See Figure 8). Turn car seat support tabs on the stroller frame (See Figure 13a, showing support tabs). These tabs are only for infant car seats. Ensure the front child tray is firmly attached to the stroller armrests.
  2. Position the infant car seat facing the rear of the stroller. Push the car seat into the front tray until it latches (See Figure 13b, showing car seat placement). The car seat's rear rests on the support tabs. Put the stroller seat in the most upright position for additional support (See Figure 8).
  3. Always secure the single short clip over the infant car seat through the belt path (See Figure 13c, showing clip placement). It is very important that the short clip is always tightly fastened around the infant car seat.

Removing the Infant Car Seat (Continued)

  1. Remove the short clip (See Figure 13d, showing clip removal). Squeeze the release handle at the foot-end of the seat and carefully lift upward (See Figure 13e, illustrating handle release and upward lift).
  2. Applies to all models: Rotate support tabs up when not using the car seat (See Figure 13f, showing tab rotation).

Fender Installation

To secure the fender, use the 4 provided screws. Skip if preassembled.

  1. Align the 4 holes under the fender with the 4 holes on the front frame assembly tubes (See Figure 18a, showing alignment of fender holes with frame tubes).
  2. Place the front fender and press onto the front frame assembly (See Figure 18a).
  3. Insert the 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the fender's plastic tubes. Tighten screws until snug (See Figure 18b, showing screw insertion). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Safety

Brakes

WARNING: Always check with your pediatrician for a recommended starting age/weight for your baby in an all-terrain stroller.

WARNING: Always set brakes when the stroller is not being pushed to prevent rolling away. NEVER leave the stroller unattended on a hill or incline, as it may slide down.

  1. To engage brakes: Apply light downward pressure to the brake lever on each rear wheel. Slight forward or rearward movement may be needed to align brake teeth with the wheel brake cluster (See Figure 14, illustrating brake engagement). NOTE: Check that the stroller does not move and brakes are applied. To release, gently lift the brake lever.

Front Wheel Lock

WARNING: FALL HAZARD: Before running, jogging, or walking fast, lock the front wheel from swiveling to prevent tip-overs.

  1. The front wheels have a swivel locking device. Push the button on each wheel upward to engage locks and downward to disengage (See Figure 15, showing lock/unlock buttons).

Testing for Proper Wheel Installation

WARNING: FALL HAZARD: ALWAYS check the double nut locking system before each use to ensure the front wheel is securely fastened to the frame.

  1. Lift the front of the stroller off the ground and pull down on the wheel to ensure it is secure (See Figure 16, showing wheel security check). NOTE: The wheel must not come off.
  2. If you experience front wheel wobble beyond normal use, adjust the front wheel housing nut located under the fender (See Figure 17, showing nut location). To remove the fender, reverse Step 18. Use a standard crescent wrench to tighten the nut. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, as this can damage the wheel housing.

Securing the Child

WARNING: Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness.

STRANGULATION HAZARD: Children can strangle in loose straps. Never leave a child in the seat when straps are loose or undone.

  1. The 5-point harness shoulder straps have 3 attachment positions. Select the position that places the shoulder strap level with, or below, the child's shoulder (See Figure 19a, illustrating strap position selection).
  2. Carefully place the child in the stroller seat. Bring the safety harness around the child's waist and over the shoulders. Place the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male end of each shoulder/waist belt into the buckle on the crotch strap. Tighten the harness to be snug around the child's waist and over the shoulders (See Figure 19b, showing harness adjustment and snug fit).

Releasing the Child

  1. To release, push the Red Button on the Center Clasp; the two Harness Buckles will pop free (See Figure 20, showing center clasp and buckle release).
  2. Unhook shoulder straps only if adjusting harness positions (See Figure 21, showing strap unhooking).

Jogging with Your Stroller

WARNING: Never jog or run with your newborn in the car seat position. Use for strolling only.

STRANGULATION HAZARD: Children have strangled when straps wrapped around their neck. When not in use, hook the tether strap onto the stroller handle. Keep this tether strap out of children's reach.

When jogging with your child, use the following safety features:

Maintenance

Folding the Stroller

WARNING: Care must be taken when folding to prevent finger entrapment.

CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while folding.

  1. Close the canopy as described in the canopy section. Recline the seat by releasing the buckle as described in the seatback positioning section.
  2. The stroller folds by simultaneously pulling each trigger fold (See Figure 24a, illustrating trigger pull). When fold latches release, the handle will fall. Release fold buttons and press down on the stroller handle until completely folded.
  3. Secure the stroller in the folded position by locking the fold latch on the right side over the frame's protruding rivet (See Figure 24b, showing fold latch securing).

Unfolding the Stroller

WARNING: Care must be taken when unfolding to prevent finger entrapment.

CAUTION: Do not allow children near the stroller while unfolding.

  1. Stand the stroller on the ground with all three wheels touching. Release the folding latch on the right side (See Figure 25a, showing latch release).
  2. Lift the stroller handle with both hands until the frame is erected and locked in the open position (See Figure 25b, showing handle lift and frame lock). The stroller has spring-loaded latches on both sides. NOTE: Test that both latches are fully engaged before placing your child in the stroller.

Maintenance

Tire Pressure: Check pressure before use. Tires ship un-inflated. Inflate regularly to the P.S.I. specified on each tire. NOTE: Use only a hand pump. DO NOT USE an air compressor. DO NOT INFLATE above the maximum recommended pressure.

Fender

Refer to step 27 for replacement.

  1. Examine the bottom of the front fender; you will see four 1/4 inch diameter plastic tubes protruding (See Figure 27a, showing underside view).
  2. Align these tubes with the holes in the front frame assembly (See Figure 27b, showing tube alignment).
  3. Line up the front fender and press onto the front frame assembly (See Figure 27c, showing fender placement).
  4. Insert 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the fender's plastic tubes. Tighten screws until snug (See Figure 27d, showing screw insertion). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Wheel Adjustment

Vehicles with three wheels can deviate from a straight line due to factors like tire pressure, wheel installation, road conditions, and manufacturing tolerances. If your Baby Trend stroller pulls significantly left or right on flat terrain, follow instructions on page 9 to realign the front wheel.

Flat Tire

The jogging stroller uses bicycle tires for durability and ease of pushing. Like bicycle tires, they can go flat. Use a standard bicycle tire repair kit or take it to a bicycle shop. Consider thorn-proof inner tubes for frequent flats. Purchase these at bicycle stores or retail stores. Check the sidewall for the correct tire size.
