  • Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death.
  • Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness and ensure children are properly positioned.
  • Never leave children unattended.
  • Warning: The wheel can detach and cause tip over. Pull on the wheel to assure it is securely attached.

Cautions

  • This single jogger is designed for one child only. Use with more than one child may cause unbalance and injury.
  • Purses, shopping bags, parcels, diaper bags, or accessory items may change the stroller's balance, creating hazardous unstable conditions.
  • Weight Limits:
    • Basket: 5 lb (2.26 kg)
    • Child tray and parent tray: 3 lb (1.36 kg) each
    • Side pockets (2): 3 lb (1.36 kg) each
    • Back pockets (2): 3 lb (1.36 kg) each
    • Canopy pockets (2): 1 lb (0.45 kg)
Excessive weight may cause a hazardous unstable condition.
  • Ensure the stroller is fully erect and latched in the open position before allowing children near it.
  • Using the stroller with children weighing more than 50 pounds (22.67 kg) or over 42 inches (106.7 cm) tall may cause excessive wear and stress, leading to an unstable condition.
  • NEVER use the stroller on stairways or escalators.
  • NEVER use the stroller with roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, or bicycles.

Jogging Specifics

  • We recommend the child occupant be at least 6 months of age prior to jogging. Discuss with your healthcare provider if your child is ready for jogging.
  • NEVER allow your stroller to be used as a toy.
  • Check your stroller regularly for loose screws, worn parts, torn material, or stitching. Replace or repair parts as needed.
  • Discontinue use if the stroller malfunctions or becomes damaged. Contact customer service for repair or replacement parts.

Assembly Instructions

General Assembly Notes

IMPORTANT! To ensure safe operation, follow these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.

Before assembly and each use, inspect the product for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. NEVER use if any parts are missing or broken.

Adult assembly is required.

Front Wheel Assembly

WARNING: Front Wheel Double Nut Locking System

This wheel uses a double nut locking system for safety. Follow all instructions carefully.

  1. Lean the stroller backwards so it rests on the handle and rear axle frame, with the front wheel forks pointing upward (as shown in Figure 1).
  2. Slide the front wheel onto the front forks (Figure 2).
  3. Slide the retainer plate onto the front wheel. Ensure the raised lip points toward the fork and insert it into the fork's slot. Align the retainer plate's tab with the slot before tightening the wheel (Figure 3).
  4. With the wheel in position, install the axle nuts and tighten with a wrench. Significant resistance should be felt, and the wheel should be held tightly in place (Figure 4).

Testing Front Wheel Installation

  1. Lift the front end of the stroller and pull down on the wheel to ensure it is attached (Figure 5). NOTE: The wheel must not detach.
  2. If you experience front wheel wobble beyond normal use, adjust the front wheel housing nut located under the footrest at the front of the jogger (Figure 6). Use a standard wrench to tighten. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, as this can damage the wheel housing.

Fender Installation

  1. Examine the bottom of the front fender; you will see four 1/4 inch diameter plastic tubes (Figure 7a). These tubes must align with the holes in the front frame assembly (Figure 7b). Align the front fender and press it onto the front frame assembly (Figure 7c). Insert the 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the fender's plastic tubes. Tighten screws until snug (Figure 7d). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Rear Wheel Installation

  1. Lean the stroller forward to rest on the front wheel. To attach rear wheels, push each wheel's axle into the plastic corner fitting (Figure 8). Depress the metal lever inside the fitting while pushing the axle in. Release the lever when the wheel stops. Check the wheel is locked by pulling it; if not, lift the lever, push the wheel further, and release. Ensure wheels are firmly locked. NEVER use the stroller if wheels are not locked. Contact customer service immediately at 1-800-328-7363 (8:00am - 4:30pm PST) for assistance.

Parent Tray Installation

WARNING: Parent Tray Weight Limit

Do not place hot liquids or more than 3 pounds in the parent tray, as this could cause serious burns or instability.

  1. To attach the parent tray, align its fittings with the fittings on the outside of the handle. Hook the tray's hole onto the handle. Pull outward on the opposite end while pushing down on the tray until it locks onto the stroller handle (Figure 9). Be careful not to pinch fingers during installation. To remove, pull outward on one end while lifting upward.

Canopy Operation

  1. To open the canopy: Push forward on the front edge of the canopy while holding the rear in place (Figure 10).
  2. To fold the canopy: Pull backwards on the front edge (Figure 11).

Child Tray Installation (if equipped)

  1. To attach the child tray: Push the angled tray onto the post at the right armrest's end, pressing the snap button downward until locked (Figure 12a). Rotate the tray downward until latched onto the left armrest. Ensure the snap button passes through and securely latches the tray (Figure 12b).
  2. To access the child seat: Press the release button on the left side tray and rotate the tray upward (Figure 13a).
  3. To remove the child tray: Press the release button, rotate the tray 180 degrees, and pull it free (Figure 13b).

Infant Car Seat Installation (if equipped)

WARNING: Jogging with Newborn in Car Seat

Never jog or run with your newborn in the car seat position. Use for strolling only.

STRANGULATION HAZARD

Children can strangle in loose straps. Never leave a child in the seat with loose or undone straps.

  1. Turn car seat support tabs on the stroller frame (Figure 14a). NOTE: Check that the front child tray is firmly attached to the stroller armrests. Position the infant car seat so it faces the rear of the stroller, and the seat shell fits into the front tray and latches securely (Figure 14b).
  2. When the infant car seat is locked firmly, strap the single short clip over the car seat through its seat belt slots (Figure 15). IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE SHORT CLIP IS ALWAYS TIGHTLY FASTENED AROUND THE INFANT CAR SEAT.
  3. To remove the Infant Car Seat: Squeeze the release handle at the foot-end of the seat and carefully lift the seat upward (Figure 16).

Brakes

WARNING: Pediatrician Consultation for Age/Weight

Always check with your pediatrician for a recommended starting age/weight for your baby in an all-terrain stroller.

WARNING: Brake Engagement

Always set brakes when the stroller is not being pushed to prevent it from rolling away. NEVER leave the stroller unattended on a hill or incline, as it may slide down.

  1. To engage brakes: Apply light downward pressure to the brake lever on each rear wheel. You may need to slightly move the stroller forward or backward to align the brake teeth with the wheel brake cluster (Figure 17). NOTE: Check that the stroller will not move and both brakes are properly applied. To release, gently lift the brake lever upward.

Front Wheel Lock

WARNING: Lock Front Swivel Wheel

Always lock the front swivel wheel in a STRAIGHT position before placing or removing children from the jogger.

FALL HAZARD: Prevent Tip Over

Before running, jogging, or walking fast, lock the front wheel to prevent swiveling to avoid tip-overs.

  1. The swivel jogger has a front wheel locking device that operates vertically to lock and unlock the wheel (Figure 18).

Securing the Child

WARNING: Falling/Sliding Out

Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness.

STRANGULATION HAZARD

A child can strangle in loose straps. Never leave a child in the seat when straps are loose or undone.

  1. The 5-point harness shoulder straps have 3 attachment positions. Select the position that places the shoulder strap level with, or below, the child's shoulder (Figure 19a).
  2. Carefully place the child in the stroller seat. Bring the safety harness around the child's waist and over the shoulders. Place the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male ends of the shoulder/waist belts into the crotch strap buckle. Tighten the harness snugly around the child's waist and over their shoulders (Figure 19b).

Safety Features

Releasing the Child

  1. To release, push the Red Button on the Center Clasp; the two Harness Buckles will pop free (Figure 20).
  1. To release, apply pressure to both sides of each male clip until it releases (Figure 21). This requires moderate effort to prevent accidental release by the child.

Seatback Positioning

The seat has multiple recline positions controlled by a strap and buckle assembly behind the seat (Figure 22a). To recline, loosen the strap through the buckle and adjust to the desired position (Figure 22b). To return to an upright position, press upward on the seatback with one hand while pulling the strap through the buckle with the other. The strap will lock automatically.

The upright position should only be used for children at least 6 months old. Always readjust the safety harness, including shoulder belts, when repositioning the seatback.

Jogging with Your Stroller

WARNING: Jogging with Newborn

Never jog or run with your newborn in the car seat position. Use for strolling only.

STRANGULATION HAZARD

Children have strangled when straps wrapped around their neck. When not in use, hook the tether strap onto the stroller handle. Keep this tether strap out of children's reach.

When jogging with your child, use the following safety features:

  • LOCK THE FRONT SWIVEL WHEEL IN STRAIGHT POSITION
  • SAFETY WRIST STRAP: Always connect the safety strap to your wrist when jogging. This strap prevents the stroller from rolling away if you trip (Figure 23a). The strap must remain connected to the rear lower frame cross member. This prevents the stroller from tipping backward if you fall. The strap has a Velcro attachment for storage on the left side of the stroller when not in use (Figure 23b).

Tires

Tires are shipped un-inflated. Inflate tires regularly to between 20-25 p.s.i. Always use a bicycle-style hand air pump.

TIRE PUMP (if equipped): Remove the flexible air hose from the pump. Thread the small brass fitting into the opposite end of the pump. Thread the air nozzle tip onto the rim's valve stem. Hold the pump body, pull back the handle, then press down to push air into the tire. Repeat until the tire reaches 20 p.s.i. (Figure 24).

Folding the Stroller

WARNING: Finger Entrapment Hazard

Be careful when folding the stroller to prevent finger entrapment.

CAUTION: Keep Children Away

Do not allow children near the stroller while folding.

  1. Close the canopy as described previously. Recline the seat by releasing the buckle as described in the seatback positioning section.
  2. Fold the stroller by simultaneously pulling each trigger fold (Figure 25a). When the fold latches release, the handle will lower. Release the fold buttons and press downward on the stroller handle until fully folded. Secure the folded stroller by locking the fold latch on the right side over the frame's rivet (Figure 25b).

Unfolding the Stroller

WARNING: Finger Entrapment Hazard

Be careful when unfolding the stroller to prevent finger entrapment.

CAUTION: Keep Children Away

Do not allow children near the stroller while unfolding.

  1. Stand the stroller on the ground with all three wheels touching the ground. Release the folding latch on the right side (Figure 26a).
  2. Lift the stroller handle with both hands until the frame is erect and locked in the open position (Figure 26b). The stroller has spring-loaded latches on both sides. NOTE: Test that both latches are fully engaged before placing your child in the stroller.

Maintenance

Wheel Adjustment

Three-wheel vehicles can deviate from a straight line due to factors like uneven tire pressure, improper wheel installation, road conditions, or manufacturing tolerances. If your Baby Trend stroller pulls significantly left or right on flat terrain, follow the instructions on page 9 to realign the front wheel.

Flat Tire

The jogging stroller uses bicycle tires for durability and ease of pushing. Like bicycle tires, they can go flat. If you have a flat tire, use a standard bicycle tire repair kit or take it to a bicycle shop. For frequent flats, consider purchasing thorn-proof inner tubes, available at bicycle stores or national retailers. Check the tire sidewall for the correct size.
