7. PIR Detection
The detection range of the PIR sensor. The "Alarm Configuration" of the PIR is activated by default, and the default sensitivity is high, but it is adjustable: "Device"-"Configuration"-"Alarm Configuration". The detection distance is 10 meters.
*NOTE: Higher sensitivity offers longer detection distances, but will cause more false alarms.
8. Alarm Push Notification and Playback
The camera with battery and PIR sensor is not designed for 24/7 recording, but sends notifications to the app and saves video to the micro SD card or a cloud server (for an additional charge) when the PIR sensor detects human body movements. You can view videos from anywhere through the Cococam app.
When the PIR sensor is activated, the camera and its system will be activated.
- An alarm will sound in the app. Please allow Cococam app notifications in the mobile settings and turn on your mobile's volume.
- Alarm snapshots and video recordings on the micro SD card/cloud storage. Ensure the micro SD card is inserted.

9. Optimal Conditions for Night Vision
When the camera is in night vision mode, an obstacle less than three meters from the lens will cause the infrared rays to concentrate on it and illuminate it, and night vision will not work. Regardless of where the camera is installed, ensure there are no obstacles within three meters of the lens.
10. Important Information to Reduce False Alarms
10.1 To reduce false alarms, please:
- Do not install the camera in a place with bright objects or direct light, including sunlight, bright lamps, etc.
- Do not place the camera in a location where vehicles and people frequently enter and exit.
- Keep the camera away from air conditioner outlets, humidifiers, heat transfer openings, etc.
- Do not point the camera towards mirrors or glass.
- Keep the camera at least one meter away from wireless devices to avoid interference.
10.2 Surveillance Area Coverage:
When installing the camera, the PIR sensor should not be aligned vertically with moving objects, as it may not detect movement. It is recommended that the camera has an inclination of more than 10 degrees to capture all movement.
Diagram: An illustration showing the recommended angle for PIR sensor detection to avoid missing moving objects.
11. Video Playback and Micro SD Card
Video recordings are stored on the micro SD card (not included) or in the cloud.
- 11.1 Supports 2-128GB only.
- 11.2 To ensure a constant recognition speed and the lifespan of the micro SD card, we recommend a Class10 speed micro SD card, Samsung, SanDisk or Kinston Micro SD.
- 11.3 Check that the micro SD card is not damaged and format it before inserting it into the camera. The format should be FAT32 or EXFAT32.
- 11.4 After inserting the micro SD card into the camera, the memory volume will be displayed in the Cococam application. This means the camera's micro SD card is readable.
- 11.5 If the micro SD card is not readable, please contact us for assistance.
Troubleshooting Table
No. | Description | Solutions and Operation |
---|---|---|
1 | What do I do when the message "cannot establish connection" appears? | 1) Check your Wi-Fi name and password. 2) Note: If your camera does not support 5G, please use a 2.4G network. 3) Make sure your camera and mobile phone are close to the router. 4) Contact customer service via email to resolve your issue within 24 hours. |
2 | How to reset to default values? | 1) Press and hold the reset button for five seconds. 2) Wait to hear the "bugu" sound. 3) Observe if the red light blinks slowly. |
3 | How to connect the camera to a new Wi-Fi network? | 1) Press the reset button to return to default settings. 2) Remove the camera in the CocoCam application. 3) Reconnect it. |
4 | Why do I receive photos where people do not appear? | 1) The camera needs time to activate and people move too quickly. 2) Objects with dissipated heat can be detected by the PIR. If this happens, lower the PIR alarm sensitivity. |
5 | Why do I receive frequent alarms? | The environment or the number of vehicles where the camera is installed triggers the cameras frequently. Change the camera's alarm sensitivity to low. |
6 | How is it that people pass by without triggering the alarm? | The PIR inspection area has a range limitation. It may be that the person is too far or too close, or that the person passes quickly through the corner of the video and is not detected by the PIR. |
7 | No alarm notification is received | Enable notifications for the CocoCam application in the mobile settings. |
8 | No alarm videos are recorded | Insert the micro SD card or enable cloud storage. |
9 | The device is offline | Check if the network is working. It is possible that the camera is installed too far from the router, causing the Wi-Fi to not work correctly. |
10 | Video arrives with delay | Check the Wi-Fi network. The camera and router should not be too far apart. |
11 | Short battery life | The camera is activating too frequently and should not be placed at the roadside or in the sun. |
12 | Flashbacks of the Cococam application | 1) It may be that your phone's system version is too low or too high, causing poor compatibility. Uninstall the APP and download it again. 2) Contact customer service with your camera model number and your mobile phone's system number. |
13 | Cannot register the account | 1) When registering an account, make sure to select the correct country. 2) A verification code is not required. Please follow the process to register your account. |
14 | Cannot add a friend | Your account and your friend's account must be registered in the same country or zone. For example, accounts from Europe and America cannot be friends. |
