7. PIR Detection
The PIR sensor's detection range is set to 10 meters by default. Sensitivity can be adjusted in "Device"-"Settings"-"Alarm Settings". Higher sensitivity offers longer detection distances but may result in more false alarms.
8. Alarm Push Notification and Playback
The battery camera with PIR sensor is not designed for continuous 24/7 recording. Instead, it sends notifications to the app and saves videos to the micro SD card or cloud storage (paid) when the PIR sensor detects human body movement. You can watch videos anywhere via the Cococam app.
When the PIR sensor is activated, the camera and its system turn on.
- The app will emit an audible alarm. Allow Cococam app notifications in your phone's settings and enable your phone's volume.
- Alarm snapshots and video recordings are saved to the micro SD card/cloud storage. Ensure the micro SD card is inserted.
9. Optimal Conditions for Night Vision
For optimal night vision, ensure there are no obstacles within three meters of the lens. Obstacles can cause infrared rays to concentrate, affecting night vision performance.
10. Important Information to Reduce False Alarms
To minimize false alarms:
- Avoid installing the camera in locations with bright objects or direct light (e.g., sunlight, bright lamps).
- Do not place the camera where vehicles and people frequently enter and exit.
- Keep the camera away from air conditioning vents, humidifiers, heat vents, etc.
- Do not point the camera towards mirrors or glass.
- Keep the camera at least one meter away from wireless devices to avoid interference.
10.2 Surveillance Area Coverage:
When installing the camera, the PIR sensor should not be aligned vertically with moving objects, as this may prevent motion detection. It is recommended to tilt the camera by more than 10 degrees to capture all movements. Avoid pointing the PIR sensor towards the path of moving objects [❌].
11. Video Playback and Micro SD Card
Video recordings are stored on a micro SD card (not included) or in the cloud.
- 11.1 Only support 2-128GB: The micro SD card capacity must be between 2GB and 128GB.
- 11.2 Recommended SD Card: For consistent recognition speed and SD card longevity, it is recommended to use a Class 10 micro SD card from brands like Samsung, SanDisk, or Kingston.
- 11.3 Card Preparation: Ensure the micro SD card is not damaged and format it before inserting it into the camera. The format must be FAT32 or exFAT32.
- 11.4 Verification: After inserting the micro SD card, the memory volume will be displayed in the Cococam app, indicating that the camera's micro SD card is readable.
- 11.5 Unreadable Card: If the micro SD card is not readable, please contact customer support for assistance.
Troubleshooting
No. | Product Description | Solutions and Functionality |
---|---|---|
1 | What to do when the message "Unable to establish connection" is displayed? | 1) Check the Wi-Fi name and password. 2) Note: If the camera does not support 5G, use a 2.4G network. 3) Ensure the camera and mobile phone are close to the router. 4) Contact customer service via email to resolve the issue within 24 hours. |
2 | How to restore to default value? | 1) Press and hold the reset button for five seconds. 2) Listen for the "bugu" sound. 3) Observe the slow flashing red light. |
3 | How do you connect the camera to a new Wi-Fi network? | 1) Press the factory reset button. 2) Remove the camera in the CocoCam application. 3) Reconnect the camera. |
4 | Why am I receiving images without people? | 1) The camera needs time to wake up, and people are moving too fast. 2) Objects with heat dissipation can be detected by the PIR. In this case, lower the PIR alarm sensitivity. |
5 | Why do I receive frequent alarms? | 1) The environment or the number of vehicles where the camera is installed triggers frequent alarms. 2) Change the camera's alarm sensitivity to low. |
6 | How do people pass without triggering the alarm? | The PIR inspection area has a limited range. It's possible that the person is too far or too close, or moves too quickly at an angle in the video and is not detected by the PIR. |
7 | Push notification not working | Enable notifications from the CocoCam app in the mobile settings. |
8 | No alarm video recording | Insert the micro SD card or enable cloud storage. |
9 | Device offline | Check if the network is working. It's possible that the camera is installed too far from the router and the Wi-Fi is not functioning correctly. |
10 | Video delay | Check the Wi-Fi network. The camera and router should not be too far apart. |
11 | Short battery life | The camera wakes up too often and should not be positioned on the roadside or in direct sunlight. |
12 | Cococam App Flashback | 1) The phone's system version may be too low or too high, resulting in poor compatibility. Uninstall and reinstall the application. 2) Contact customer service, providing the camera model number and the phone's system number. |
13 | Cannot register account | 1) When registering an account, ensure you select the correct country. 2) A verification code is not required. Follow the account registration procedure. |
14 | Cannot add a friend | Your account and your friend's account must be registered in the same country or region. For example, accounts in Europe and America cannot be friends. |
