Getting Started
Charging the built-in battery
The portable radio is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery.
Note: The battery icon ? indicates low battery. Charge the built-in battery as soon as possible.
Connect the Type-C port on the portable radio to a power outlet (5 V = 2 A) using the supplied Type-C cable.

The charging icon ? is displayed when the portable radio is charging.
The fully charged icon ✅ is displayed when the portable radio is fully charged.
Note: Lithium-ion batteries have a natural self-discharge characteristic. To ensure battery longevity, it is recommended to charge the built-in lithium battery to about 50% every 6 months when the device is not in use.
Powering on/off or switching to standby mode
Press ⏻ to turn on the unit. The radio will switch to the last selected source.
Press ⏻ to put the unit into standby mode. The time (if configured) will be displayed.
Note: If no Bluetooth device is connected for over 15 minutes, or if connected but not playing, the radio will automatically switch to standby mode. In any mode, press and hold ⏻ for 3 seconds to turn off the unit directly. The display will turn off.
Adjusting the volume
Turn the knob ?️ to adjust the volume while listening.
Adjusting the screen brightness
You can select different brightness levels or turn off the display.
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Display], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Backlight level], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the display brightness (High, Medium, Low), then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to exit the menu.
Displaying the Menu in Standby Mode
When the unit is in standby mode, you can enter the menu to access control options.
- In standby mode, press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select a menu option, then press ✔️ to confirm the option or enter the lower-level menu.
- [Display]: Adjust backlight/dim level/timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn on/off and configure alarms 1 or 2.
- [Clock]: Configure time synchronization, date/time, and select time and date formats.
- [System]: Adjust system settings.
- Repeat Step 2 if there is a secondary option within any selection.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.

Clock Settings
Setting the clock automatically
1. Press ☰ to access the menu.
2. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Clock], then press ✔️ to confirm.
3. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Set auto/manual], then press ✔️ to confirm.
4. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Auto(RDS)], then press ✔️ to confirm.
5. Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Note: On an RDS FM station, the unit can automatically synchronize the time with the time broadcast by the FM RDS station (with CT information).
Setting the clock manually
1. Press ☰ to access the menu.
2. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Clock], then press ✔️ to confirm.
3. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏩ to select [Set date&time], then press ✔️ to confirm.
4. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the hour, then press ✔️ to confirm. The hours will flash.
5. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the minutes, then press ✔️ to confirm.
6. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the month, then press ✔️ to confirm.
7. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the day, then press ✔️ to confirm.
8. Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the year, then press ✔️ to confirm.
The time is now set.
9. Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Setting the time format
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Clock], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Set 12H/24H], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [12H] or [24H], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Setting the date format
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Clock], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Set date format], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the date format [MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Clock style
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Clock], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Clock style], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Alarm Settings
Setting the alarm time
Note: Ensure the clock is set correctly.
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Alarm], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Wake up time], then press ✔️ to confirm. The hours will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the hour, then press ✔️ to confirm. The minutes will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the minutes, then press ✔️ to confirm.
If the alarm period is set to [Once], use ⏪ / ⏩ and ✔️ to set the alarm date.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Frequency], then press ✔️ to confirm. The alarm repeat cycle will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the alarm repeat cycle (Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekend), then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Source], then press ✔️ to confirm. The alarm source will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select the alarm source (SONOR ALARM or FM station), then press ✔️ to confirm.
- If the alarm source is set to [FM] (default is SONOR ALARM), the Alarm menu will have an additional [Source] option; use ⏪ / ⏩ and ✔️ to select the preset FM radio station number.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
The corresponding alarm icon ⏰ will be displayed.
Suggestion: The unit exits alarm setting mode after 30 seconds of inactivity. If FM is selected as the alarm source, but the preset station is not selected, the SONOR ALARM function is activated automatically. The alarm time limit is 60 minutes if no user action is taken.
Activating/Deactivating the alarm
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Alarm], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [On] or [Off], then press ✔️ to confirm the activation or deactivation of the alarm.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
The ⏰ icon appears if the alarm is activated.
The icon disappears if the alarm is deactivated.
Snoozing the alarm
1. When the alarm rings, press ?. The alarm sound is paused and will repeat 10 minutes later (default is 10 minutes).
During the snooze period, press ? to select another period (in minutes) for the alarm to ring again.
2. During the snooze period, press ? or hold for three seconds to cancel the alarm snooze. The alarm stops.
Stopping the alarm sound
When the alarm rings, press the ⏰ button to pause the alarm sound and enter snooze mode, or press the button to stop the alarm sound. The alarm stops, but the alarm settings are retained.
Setting the sleep timer
This portable radio can automatically switch to standby mode after setting the sleep timer.
- Turn on the unit.
- Press ☰ to select the sleep time.
Press and hold ☰ to select a different sleep time.
To deactivate the sleep timer: Repeat the above steps and set the sleep timer to Off.
Listening to FM Radio
Note: Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid radio interference. For perfect reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the FM antenna.
Automatic tuning
- Press ⏻ to turn on the unit.
- Press ☰ to select FM mode.
- Press and hold ? for 3 seconds. The portable radio will automatically tune to a station with a strong reception.
Manual tuning
Press ⏪ / ⏩ to select a frequency to tune to a station manually.
Note: The tuning grid of the portable radio is 50 KHz. The radio frequency on the display increases in 0.05 MHz increments by pressing ⏪ / ⏩.
Searching and saving FM radio stations automatically
Note: You can save a maximum of 20 FM radio stations.
In FM tuner mode, press and hold SCAN for 3 seconds. [Auto Scanning...] is displayed. The radio will automatically search and save all FM radio stations, then play the first available station.
Saving FM radio stations manually
- In FM tuner mode, tune to an FM radio station.
- Press and hold 1 or 2 (preset number) for 3 seconds to directly save the current station to the corresponding position. [Preset 1 or 2 stored] is displayed. The preset number and station frequency are shown.
- Repeat steps 1 to 4 to save more FM radio stations.
Suggestion: To remove a saved station, save another station in its place if the number of presets exceeds 20.
Saving and selecting favorite stations
Note: You can save favorite stations to direct buttons 1, 2.
- In FM tuner mode, tune to an FM radio station.
- Press and hold 1 or 2 (preset number) for 3 seconds to directly save the current station to the corresponding position. [Preset 1 or 2 stored] is displayed. The preset number and station frequency are shown.
In FM tuner mode, press 1 or 2 to directly select a preset FM radio station (1 or 2).
Selecting a preset radio station
- In FM tuner mode, press ☰.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select a preset radio station.
Note: The preset radio station is confirmed automatically after three seconds.
Setting search sensitivity
- Press ☰ to access the FM menu.
- Press ✔️ to enter [Scan setting].
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Strong] (stations with strong reception only) or [All] (all stations), then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to exit the menu.
Displaying RDS information
RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to display additional information.
- Tune to an RDS FM station.
- Press and hold ← for 3 seconds to display the following information (if available): Station name, Program type (e.g., [NEWS], [SPORT], [POP M]), Time, Text, Frequency.
Displaying the Menu in FM Mode
When listening to FM radio, you can enter the menu to access control options.
- Press ☰ to access the FM menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select a menu option, then press ✔️ to confirm the option or enter the lower-level menu.
- [Scan setting]: Select search sensitivity (strong reception or all stations).
- [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
- [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
- [Display]: Adjust backlight/dim level/timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn on/off and configure the alarm.
- [Clock]: Configure time synchronization, date/time, and select time and date formats.
- [System]: Adjust system settings.
- Repeat Step 2 if there is a secondary option within any selection.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Note: The menu will close if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Listening to Music via Bluetooth®
Note: The operating range between the unit and the device is approximately 25 meters (open area). Compatibility with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed. Obstacles between the unit and the device may reduce the operating range. Keep away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. The unit will also turn off when your device is moved beyond the operating range.
Connecting Bluetooth®
- Press ⬢ to select Bluetooth mode. [Not Connected] is displayed.
- On your Bluetooth device, turn on Bluetooth, search for and select [Philips TAV2000FB] to establish a connection. If connected successfully: You will hear an audible alert. [Connected] is displayed.
Disconnecting Bluetooth®
Switch to another source on the unit; or Disable the Bluetooth® function on your device. Alternatively, press and hold ⬢ for 3 seconds to disconnect the Bluetooth connection. If disconnected successfully: You will hear an audible alert. [Pairing] is displayed.
Clearing Bluetooth® pairing records
- Press ☰ to access the Bluetooth menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Bluetooth clean], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Yes] to disconnect the current connection or [No] to keep the connection, then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to exit the menu. [Pairing] is displayed.
Playing music
When playing music on your Bluetooth® device, you can use this unit to control it.
- Press ✔️ to pause/resume playback.
- Press ⏪ / ⏩ to skip to a track.
- Turn the knob ?️ to adjust the volume.
Displaying the Menu in Bluetooth® Mode
When listening via Bluetooth®, you can enter the menu to access control options.
- Press ☰ to access the Bluetooth menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select a menu option, then press ✔️ to confirm the option or enter the lower-level menu.
- [Bluetooth pair]: Select to disconnect Bluetooth and enter pairing mode.
- [Bluetooth clean]: Erase Bluetooth pairing records.
- [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
- [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
- [Display]: Adjust backlight/dim level/timeout settings.
- [Alarm]: Turn on/off and configure the alarm.
- [Clock]: Configure time synchronization, date/time, and select time and date formats.
- [System]: Adjust system settings.
- Repeat Step 2 if there is a secondary option within any selection.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu.
Note: The menu will close if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Kitchen Timer Settings
Note: The unit exits menu setting mode after 30 seconds of inactivity.
Setting the kitchen timer
- Press ⏻ to turn on the unit.
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Kitchen timer], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Kitchen timer setup], then press ✔️ to confirm.
Or, press and hold ☰ to enter the kitchen timer. The hours digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the hour, then press ✔️ to confirm. The minutes digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the minutes, then press ✔️ to confirm. The seconds digits will flash.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to set the seconds, then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [On/Off], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [On] (to turn on) or [Off] (to turn off) the kitchen timer, then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to go back to the previous menu. The ⏰ icon and the kitchen timer are displayed.
Note: The kitchen timer limit is 60 minutes if no user action is taken.
Stopping the kitchen timer sound
When the kitchen timer rings, press any key to stop the audible alarm.
Cancelling the kitchen timer
- To cancel the kitchen timer, press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Kitchen timer], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [On/Off], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Off], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Press ← to exit the menu.
Note: The kitchen timer can only be cancelled when the unit is turned on.

Selecting the menu language
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [System], then press ✔️ to confirm.

Listening via headphones
Connect headphones to the jack on the back of the main unit.
Factory reset
- Press ☰ to access the menu.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [System], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Factory reset], then press ✔️ to confirm.
- Turn the rotary knob or press ⏪ / ⏩ to select [Yes] (to reset all radio factory presets), then press ✔️ to confirm. [Restarting...] is displayed.

Troubleshooting
Warning: Never open the casing of this product.
To maintain warranty validity, never attempt to repair the product yourself. If you encounter any problems while using this device, check the following points before contacting technical support. If the problem persists, visit the Philips website (www.philips.com/support). When contacting Philips, ensure the appliance is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
No power
- Ensure the portable radio is fully charged.
- Ensure the USB port of the portable radio is connected correctly.
No sound
- Adjust the volume on the portable radio.
- Adjust the volume on the connected device.
- Ensure the Bluetooth device is within operating range.
Unit unresponsive
- Restart the portable radio.
Poor radio reception
- Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to avoid radio interference.
- Fully extend the antenna and adjust its position.
Alarm does not work
- Set the clock/alarm correctly.
Clock/alarm setting lost
- Reset the clock/alarm.
- Replace the backup battery.
Poor audio quality after connecting a Bluetooth-enabled device
- Bluetooth reception is weak. Move the device closer to the speaker or remove any obstacles between them.
Cannot find [Philips TAV2000FB] on your Bluetooth device for pairing
Press and hold ⬢ for 3 seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode and try again.
Cannot connect to your Bluetooth device
- The Bluetooth function of your device is not activated. Consult the device's user manual for how to activate the function.
- The portable radio is not in pairing mode.
- The portable radio is already connected to another Bluetooth device.
- Turn off and try again.
Battery does not charge correctly or drains too quickly.
Replace the battery.
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit and remove the original battery.

- Insert a battery of the same type (not supplied).
