Important Safety Instructions
Read and follow all instructions carefully. Understand and follow all information in this user manual before installing and using the spa. These warnings, instructions, and safety guidelines address common risks of water recreation but cannot cover all risks and dangers. Always use caution, common sense, and good judgment. Retain this information for future use. Keep these instructions in a safe place. If instructions are missing, contact the manufacturer or search on www.bestwaycorp.com.
Warnings – Safety Installation
- The spa must be supplied through an isolating transformer or a residual current device (RCD) not exceeding 30mA.
- The spa must be supplied by an earthed power source.
- The power source on the wall should be more than 4m away from the pool.
- Connect to a grounded mains supply socket with a supply cord fitted with a plug and PRCD with a tripping current of 10mA.
- Plug directly into an earthed socket-outlet of the fixed wiring.
- Ensure the plug is accessible after installation.
- Follow national wiring rules and consult a qualified electrician.
- Do not bury the cord. Locate the cord to minimize abuse from lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, etc.
- CAUTION: To avoid hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, do not supply through an external switching device like a timer, or connect to a circuit regularly switched on/off by the utility.
- Read instructions before using and installation or reassembly.
Warnings - Risk of Electric Shock
- Do not use the spa when it is raining, thundering, or lightning.
- Do not use an extension cord; provide a properly located outlet.
- Do not plug or unplug the appliance with wet hands.
- Never operate any electrical appliance when in your spa or when your body is wet. Never place any electric appliance within 2m of the spa.
- Install at least 2m from all metal surfaces.
- No part of the appliance is to be located above the bath during use.
- Parts containing live parts (except safety extra-low voltage parts not exceeding 12V) must be inaccessible to persons in the spa pool. Parts incorporating electrical components must be located or fixed so they cannot fall into the spa pool.
- For electric safety, a PRCD is incorporated in the power cord. If leakage is detected over 10mA, the device will operate and cut-off power. Unplug and stop using the spa. Do not repair yourself. Visit www.bestwaycorp.com for information.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or similarly qualified persons.
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not use an extension cord; provide a properly located outlet.
Warnings - To Reduce the Risk of Injury
- The water temperature should never exceed 40°C (104°F). Between 38°C (100°F) and 40°C (104°F) is safe for healthy adults. Lower temperatures are recommended for young children and when spa use exceeds 10 minutes.
- Excessive water temperatures can cause fetal damage. Pregnant or possibly pregnant women should limit spa water temperature to 38°C (100°F) and limit use to 10 minutes at a time.
- If the water feels too hot, measure the temperature with an accurate thermometer before entering. If above 45°C, stop use until the temperature is reduced to under 40°C. Note that external thermometer readings may differ from the control panel by around 3 degrees.
- The use of alcohol, drugs, or medication before or during spa use may lead to unconsciousness and drowning.
- Obese people and people with a history of heart disease, low or high blood pressure, circulatory system problems, or diabetes should consult a physician before using a spa.
- People using medication should consult a physician, as some medication may induce drowsiness or affect heart rate, blood pressure, and circulation.
- Avoid putting your head under water at all times.
- Avoid swallowing spa water.
- Consider that the comfortable temperature range may be lower than the maximum safe temperature.
- Never operate the spa if inlet/outlet pipes are broken or missing. Never attempt to replace them. Visit www.bestwaycorp.com for information.
- Never pour water higher than 40°C (104°F) into the spa pool directly.
- Do not use the spa alone.
- People with infectious diseases should not use a spa.
- Do not use the spa immediately following strenuous exercise.
- Immediately leave the spa if you feel uncomfortable or sleepy.
- Always enter and exit the spa slowly and cautiously. Wet surfaces are slippery.
- The pump must be tested before each use. Follow pump instructions for testing.
- Always keep the plug dry; using a wet plug is forbidden.
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning or maintenance, and if leaving unattended on holidays.
- Never wear contact lenses when in your spa.
Danger - Risk of Injury
The suction fittings are sized for specific water flow. If replacing suction fittings or the pump, ensure flow rates are compatible. Never operate the spa if suction fittings are broken or missing. Caution
After 3-5 years of use, main components (heating element, air blower motor, non-return valves) should be checked by a professional electrician for safety and performance. Visit www.bestwaycorp.com for information.
Warnings – Non-Swimmers Safety
- Continuous, active, and vigilant supervision of weak swimmers and non-swimmers by a competent adult is required at all times, especially in exercise spas. Children under five are at the highest risk of drowning.
- Designate a competent adult to supervise the spa each time it is used.
- Weak swimmers or non-swimmers should wear personal protection equipment.
- When the spa is not in use or unsupervised, remove all toys from the spa and its surrounding area to avoid attracting children.
Warnings – Safety Devices and Equipment
- A safety cover or other safety protection device should be used, or all doors and windows secured to prevent unauthorized access.
- Barriers, covers, alarms are helpful but not substitutes for continuous adult supervision.
- Keep rescue equipment (e.g., a ring buoy) by the spa if appropriate.
- Keep a working phone and a list of emergency phone numbers near the spa.
- Consult experts and/or local authorities regarding childproof fencing, safety barriers, lighting, and other safety requirements.
Warnings – Safe Use of the Spa
- Encourage all users, especially children, to learn how to swim.
- Learn Basic Life Support (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR) and refresh this knowledge regularly.
- Instruct all spa users, including children, on what to do in case of an emergency.
- Never dive into any shallow body of water.
- Do not use the spa when using alcohol or medication that may impair the bather's ability to safely use the spa.
- When covers are used, remove them completely from the water surface before entering the spa.
- Protect spa occupants from water-related illnesses by advising them to keep water treated and practice good hygiene. Consult water treatment guidelines in the user's manual.
- Store chemicals out of the reach of children.
- Use the signage provided on the spa or within 2 meters of the spa in a prominent visible position.
- Removable ladders, when removed, shall be stored safely where children cannot climb on it.
- This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Water attracts children; always attach a spa cover after each use.
Danger - Risk of Accidental Drowning
Caution shall be exercised to prevent unauthorized access to the spa by children. This can be reached by adult supervisor securing the means of access or installing a safety protection device. Ensure that children are kept under constant adult supervision.
Warnings - Safe Water Maintenance and Chemical Use
- Never add water to chemicals. Always add chemicals to water to avoid strong fumes or violent reactions.
- For information on cleaning, maintenance of water, and disposal of water, see the "MAINTENANCE" section.
- Do not use spa during chemical maintenance.
- Manual dosing of chemicals shall not be performed while bathers are present.
- Consult your local government authority for water regulations related to convenient water supply for filling the spa.
Warnings - Safe Setup and Storage
- Do not unfold and inflate the spa if the ambient temperature is below 15°C (59°F). Inflate indoors, then setup outdoors.
- If the outdoor temperature is lower than 6°C (42.8°F), the spa heater must always be on. The Freeze Shield™ system keeps the internal temperature between 6°C (42.8°F) and 10°C (50°F) to prevent damage from freezing.
- CAUTION: If alarms appear, the Freeze Shield™ system may stop working. Check spa status if outdoor temperature is below 6°C (42.8°F). In case of long-term absence when temperatures may fall below 6°C (42.8°F), disassemble and store the spa.
- When the appliance is not used for a long time (e.g., winter), disassemble and store the spa or pool set indoors.
- Do not place the spa on a slippery surface and ensure the surface is free of sharp objects before installation.
- To avoid damage to the pump, never operate the spa unless it is filled with water.
- Use only accessories provided or approved by the spa manufacturer.
- Refer to the manual for installation information.
- Whenever the spa is emptied, clean the filter (and drain/dry, where applicable).
- Examine equipment before use. Notify Bestway at the customer service address for any damaged or missing parts at the time of purchase. Verify that components match the intended models.
- This product is not intended for commercial use.
- Always keep the spa cover on to minimize heat loss during heating between uses. Ensure the cover is fitted tightly.
- When the cover is not in use, keep it off the ground to retain cleanliness. Store the cover in an appropriate location where it cannot be damaged.
- Check the set water temperature and consider lowering it when the spa is not in use.
- Depending on external conditions, consider turning off the heater if not using the spa for an extended period (if the spa provides this option).
- Use an insulating ground cloth underneath the spa to minimize heat loss.
- Maintain clean filters to preserve working conditions for the pump and avoid unnecessary water replacement and re-heating.
- Keep the spa away from the rest area to minimize noise disturbance.
- Do not put the cover on the ground or any other dirty surface when not in place on the spa.
- When the spa is being used, the cover should be placed in a clean, dry area. Covers should not be put on wooden tables or decking due to the risk of bleaching the wood. A cover lifter is useful and strongly recommended for spas in rental settings.
- Consult a qualified contractor or structural engineer to verify if the support material is strong enough to support the maximum design load of the spa, spa water, and bathers. Read the filled weight information on the package.
Warnings – Only for Spa Equipped with Wi-Fi

Warnings - PRCD
- Before inserting the plug into a power outlet, ensure the current rate of the power outlet is suitable for the pump.
- Using an extension lead or multi-plug adapter with the spa heater can cause overheating. The spa is a class I electrical appliance and must be connected directly to a grounded socket. Use a socket resistant to humidity and capable of high-power loading. Regularly check the plug and socket for signs of damage. If unsure about the electrical supply, consult a qualified electrician.
- The PRCD plug must be tested before each use to avoid risk of electric shock.

Disposal
Electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your local authority or retailer for recycling advice.

Choose the Correct Location
Indoor and outdoor & above ground & portable wiring & portable spa.
Only For Spas Equipped With Wi-Fi:
To choose the correct location for the spa equipped with Wi-Fi, read the Spa Wi-Fi instruction leaflet included in the package and the following instructions.
For All Spas:
The surface chosen to install the pool must respect the following technical characteristics:
- Due to the combined weight of water and users, the surface must uniformly support the total weight for the entire time the spa is installed.
- An adequate drainage system must be provided for overflow water.
- The surface must be flat and smooth. Inclined or uneven surfaces can create unbalanced loading, potentially damaging the structure.
- The selected surface must be clear of any object. Objects under the spa could damage or perforate the bottom.
- The selected location must not have overhead power lines or trees. Ensure no underground utility pipes, lines, or cables are present.
- The selected position must be far from the house entrance.
- Do not position equipment or furniture around the spa, as water spillage can damage them.
- Do not install the spa on carpet or other floor materials that promote or harbor moisture and bacteria, or that could be affected by water treatment chemicals.
- Consult your local government authority for installation regulations.
Suggested set-up surfaces:
Grass, ground, concrete, and all other surfaces that respect the above set-up conditions.
Not suggested surfaces:
Mud, sand, gravel, deck, balcony, driveway, platform, soft/loose soil, or other surfaces that do not meet the above set-up conditions.
Indoor Installation:
- Humidity is a natural side effect. Determine the effects of airborne moisture on exposed wood, paper, etc. Provide plenty of ventilation. Consult an expert if more ventilation is needed.
- Keep suitable air treatment (ventilation and dehumidification) in the indoor location to preserve bathers' safety and comfort.
- Empty the spa before removing it from the indoor location or building.
Outdoor Installation:
- The selected surface must be clear of aggressive plants and weed species that could grow through the liner and create water or air leakage. Eliminate grass or other vegetation that may cause odor or slime.
- Do not leave the spa's surface exposed to direct sunlight for long periods. Protect the spa from direct sun light exposure by a cover when not in use.
- Follow the instructions to choose the correct surface and location. Damaged parts due to incorrect set-up surface and location will not be considered a manufacture defect and will void the warranty. It is the owner's responsibility to ensure the site meets requirements.
- Consult your local professional installers for environmental conditions, such as ground water and risk of frost.
- Recommended to protect the spa from direct sunlight exposure by a cover when not in use.
Spa Heater Equipotential Bonding Terminal
It is recommended to arrange for a qualified electrician to connect the spa pump to an equipotential bonding terminal using a minimum 2.5mm² solid copper conductor.
Heating Reset
- When using the Lay-Z-Spa for the first time, or after a long period of inactivity, press the reset button on the pump using a small and thin object.
- If the temperature on the control panel (or water temperature) has not changed for 4-5 hours after activation of the heating system, use a thin object to press the RESET BUTTON and restart the heating system.
- If the Lay-Z-Spa is under direct sunlight and the outside temperature is above 35°C, the heating system may not operate, and the display will show alarm code E08. Wait until a cooler time of day before pressing the RESET BUTTON and restarting the heating system. If the spa remains in the same position, alarm E08 may reappear. Follow the same procedures.
Installation
Follow the drawings printed on the package for installation instructions. Drawings are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect actual product. Not to scale.
Recommendations During the Installation
- Keep the spa away from the rest area to minimize noise disturbance. Keep at least 1m clearance around the spa.
- Do not use sea water to fill the pool, as it can corrode internal metal components due to high salt concentration.
- The filtration system is designed for the filter cartridge only. Any other component added inside the filter set can cause damage to the filtration system, which will not be covered by customer service.
Inflation Information
Only For Inflatable Spa Liner or Cover:
- When inflating, air may be expelled from the area where the air hose connects to the pump; this is normal.
- Do not cover the holes on the base of the inflation hose. This operation will over-inflate the liner and damage the structure.
- Do not use an air compressor to inflate the spa.
- Do not drag the pool on rough ground as this may cause damage to the spa liner.
Hand Pump Pressure Gauge
Only For Drop Stitch Spa:
The air pressure gauge of the hand pump only shows air pressure higher than 5 psi. If the air pressure is lower than 5 psi, the gauge will not show a value.
Air Valve Check
Only For Drop Stitch Spa:
- If the air valve is loose, use the provided wrench to fasten it. With one hand, hold the backside of the air valve from the inner side of the spa wall and turn the wrench clockwise.
- Do not adjust the air valve connector when the spa is in use.
Using the Spa
Control Panel
- LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON: The pump has a 5-minute auto-lock. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to lock or unlock the pump. The lock indicator light turns on.
- POWER-SAVING TIMER BUTTON: Use to set the time and duration of the heating cycle. Press the button, the LED flashes. Press or to adjust heating duration (1-999 hours). Press again to confirm. Press or to set the waiting time (0-999 hours). Press again or wait 10 seconds to confirm. The LED lights steadily. The screen flashes current temperature and time alternately. To modify settings, press the button and use or . To cancel, press the button for 2 seconds. When power saving is activated, all functions except heating can be used. This function is not automatic; it must be set again after each cycle.
- HEAT BUTTON: Press to activate the heating system. Red light indicates heating is active; green light indicates the set temperature has been reached. The filtration system automatically starts when heating is activated. The filtration system continues to operate after heating is turned off.
- MASSAGE SYSTEM BUTTON: Press to activate the massage system (30-minute auto-shutoff). The button light turns red when activated. Do not run the massage system with the cover attached, as air accumulation can cause irreparable damage to the cover. Heat and massage systems can be activated simultaneously.
For Spa Equipped with Wi-Fi Only
- 2-LEVEL MASSAGE REGULATION: Push once for full power massage, push again to stop, push again for lower power massage, and push again to shut off.
- When inflating the spa liner, ensure the massage function is running at full power.
Temperature Adjustment Buttons
Pressing the or button flashes the set temperature for 3 seconds, then shows the real water temperature. Adjust temperature using the button. Default temperature is 35°C (95°F). Adjustment range: 20°C (68°F) to 40°C (104°F).
ON/OFF BUTTON
After activating the PRCD, press and hold the button for 2 seconds. The button turns green, and the control panel is activated. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to turn off all functions.
°C/°F Celsius/Fahrenheit Toggle
Toggle temperature display between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
WATER FILTER BUTTON
Press the button to turn the filter pump on and off. The button turns red when activated.
For Spa Equipped with Wi-Fi Only
- Wi-Fi Activation: For Wi-Fi operation instructions, read the spa Wi-Fi instruction leaflet included in the package.
Water Heater Rate
The WATER HEATER rate may change under the following conditions:
- When the outdoor temperature is below 15°C (59°F).
- If the cover is not in position. Always keep the spa cover on when the spa is not in use to minimize heat loss and prevent dust contamination.
- The water temperature shown on the display may be incorrect if the filtration system is not activated. Run the filtration system for at least a minute to read the correct temperature.
- The water temperature as tested by an external thermometer may vary from the displayed temperature by approximately 2°C (35.6°F).
Winter Use Instructions
Follow these suggestions when setting up the spa during winter to prevent damage and extend product life:
- If the outdoor temperature is below 10°C (50°F), keep the package indoors where the temperature is above 15°C (59°F) to make the spa liner more flexible and easier to set up.
- Open the package and inflate the spa liner using the spa heater in a room where the temperature is above 15°C (59°F).
- Position the spa liner outdoors, connect the spa heater, and fill with water. The water used to fill the spa must be above 6°C (42.8°F), otherwise, the E03 alarm will appear when operating the spa heater.
- You can keep the spa on during winter when the temperature is lower than 6°C (42.8°F). The Freeze Shield™ system automatically keeps the water temperature between 6°C (42.8°F) and 10°C (50°F) to prevent freezing.
- If the water temperature is below 6°C (42.8°F), the spa heater must always be on. The Freeze Shield™ system keeps the internal temperature between 6°C (42.8°F) and 10°C (50°F) to prevent damage from freezing pipes or the circulation system.
- If alarms appear, the Freeze Shield™ system may not be working. Check spa status if outdoor temperature is below 6°C (42.8°F). In case of long-term absence when temperatures may fall below 6°C (42.8°F), disassemble and store the spa.
- Any damage resulting from using the spa in these conditions is the customer's responsibility. Do not use the spa when the ambient temperature reaches -10°C (14°F).
Heating Time
Heating duration to reach 40°C (104°F) depends on starting water and ambient temperatures. Data is for reference only. Run the filter system for at least a minute to display current water temperature.

Be sure to cover the spa with the cover whenever heating is activated. Leaving the spa uncovered will increase heating duration. When the spa is assembled with water, do not switch off the spa heater if the temperature is lower than 6°C (42.8°F).

Maintenance
CAUTION: Ensure the pump is unplugged before beginning spa maintenance to avoid risk of injury or death.
Liner
- It is normal for the spa liner to appear as if it is losing air. Changes in ambient temperature may change the internal air pressure.
- When detaching the pump from the liner, block the air pipe by screwing on the cap and installing stoppers on the debris screens to prevent water from coming out.
Cover
Clean the cover inside and outside periodically using a gentle detergent for the PVC material.
Filter Cartridge
- To optimize filtration performance, check and clean your filter cartridge every day.
- Change your filter cartridge every week or replace it if it remains soiled and discolored after washing.
Water
Pollutants can cause bacterial, algal, or fungal growth. Clean spas regularly. Tenacious stains or biofilms may develop on surfaces below the water line. It is recommended to change the water completely and clean/disinfect the spa. Observe regulations and instructions for draining water.
- Keep spa water clean and chemically balanced. Use pool chemicals to maintain water chemistry and chlorine or bromine tablets (do not use granules) with the chemical dispenser.
- Water quality is related to frequency of use, number of users, and maintenance. Change water every 3 days if no chemical treatment is performed. Use tap water for spa filling to minimize unwanted contents like minerals.
- Shower before using the Lay-Z-Spa to remove cosmetic products, lotions, and other residues that can degrade water quality.
- Do not throw chemical products directly into the water, as they can deposit on the bottom and damage the material or discolor the PVC.
Chemical Tablets (Not Included)
- Remove the chemical dispenser from the spa when in use.
- After chemical maintenance and before using the spa, use a test kit to test water chemistry. Maintain water chemical balance as follows:

Spa damage from misuse of chemicals or mismanagement of spa water is not covered by warranty. Pool chemicals are potentially toxic; handle with care. Consult your local pool or chemical supply retailer for more information about chemical maintenance. Pay close attention to chemical manufacturer's instructions. Overuse of chemicals can discolor printing and damage the spa liner.
Disassembly and Storage
Draining
To drain the spa, follow the drawings inside the manual. Drawings are for illustration purposes only.
Drying
After draining, ensure the pump, liner chamber, massage chain, and inflatable cover are completely dry. This is essential to extend the life of the spa and avoid mildew.
Cleaning
Detergent residues and dissolved solids may build up on spa walls. Use soap and water to clean the walls and rinse thoroughly. Do not use hard brushes or abrasive cleaners.
Deflating
Your spa is equipped with a deflation function to remove air for easier packing and storage. Follow the drawings inside the manual.
Repairing
For PVC Material:
If the spa is torn or punctured, use the provided PVC repair patch:
- Clean the area to be repaired. Carefully peel patch.
- Press patch over the area.
- Wait 30 seconds before inflation.
For Duraplus™™ PVC Material:
If the spa is torn or punctured, use the provided PVC patch and glue (not included):
- Clean and dry the area.
- Cut the patch to size.
- Apply glue to one side of the patch. Wait 30 seconds, then place the patch over the damaged area.
- Smooth out air bubbles and press firmly for two minutes.
- Wait 30 minutes before inflation.
Storage
- Remove all accessories and ensure the spa liner, inflatable cover, pump, and accessories are completely clean and dry before storing. Mold may result if not completely dry, damaging the spa liner.
- Fold the spa liner only if the environment temperature is above 10°C / 50°F.
- Store the spa in a dry place with a moderate temperature between 10°C (50°F) and 38°C (100°F).
- Position the spa liner and inflatable cover inside a carton box for better protection of the PVC material during winter months.
