Ensure the network is available. The camera supports 2.4GHz WLAN, not 5GHz.
5. Adding the Camera
Before Use:
- SD Card: Insert the Micro-SD card (2-128 GB) before powering on the device. Inserting it after powering on may cause detection failure and require a restart.
- WLAN Connection: Place the device and your phone within 30 to 100 cm of the router.
- App Permissions: Before adding the camera, enable Bluetooth and location permissions in the app. Then, turn on your phone's Bluetooth and proceed with camera connection setup. (Note: If the app is not open, the camera connection will fail.)

7. PIR Detection
The PIR sensor's detection range is activated by default with high sensitivity, which is adjustable in "Device" - "Settings" - "Alarm Settings". The detection range is up to 10 meters (32 feet).
Note: Higher sensitivity provides a wider detection range but may lead to more false alarms.
8. Alarm Push Notification and Playback
The battery camera with PIR sensor is not designed for 24/7 recording. It sends notifications to the app and saves videos to the Micro-SD card or cloud server (additional fees may apply) when the PIR sensor detects human body movements. Videos can be viewed via the Cococam app from anywhere.
When the PIR sensor is triggered, the camera and system are activated.
- An alarm sound will play in the app. Please allow Cococam app notifications in your phone's settings and ensure your phone's volume is turned up.
- Alarm snapshots and video recordings are saved to the Micro-SD card / Cloud storage. Ensure the Micro-SD card is inserted.
9. Best Conditions for Night Vision
When the camera is in night vision mode, an obstacle within three meters of the lens can cause infrared rays to concentrate and illuminate it. Otherwise, the night vision function will not work. Ensure there are no obstacles within three meters in front of the lens, regardless of where the camera is mounted.
10. Important Information for Reducing False Alarms
10.1 To avoid false alarms, please note:
- Do not mount the camera in a location with bright objects or direct light, such as sunlight or bright lamps.
- Do not mount the camera in a location with frequent vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
- Keep the camera away from air conditioner outlets, humidifiers, heat transfer openings, etc.
- Do not point the camera at mirrors or glass.
- Keep the camera at least one meter away from wireless devices to avoid interference.
10.2 Coverage of the Surveillance Area:
When installing the camera, the PIR sensor should not be vertically aligned with moving objects, as it may not detect movement. It is recommended to tilt the camera by more than 10 degrees to capture all movements.
11. Video Playback and Micro-SD Card
Video recordings are stored on the Micro-SD card (not included) or in the cloud.
- 11.1 Capacity: Supports 2-128GB.
- 11.2 Recommendation: For consistent detection and long lifespan, use a Class 10 Micro-SD card from Samsung, SanDisk, or Kinston.
- 11.3 Preparation: Check the Micro-SD card for damage and format it before inserting it into the camera. The format must be FAT32 or EXFAT32.
- 11.4 Recognition: After inserting the Micro-SD card, its storage volume will be displayed in the Cococam app, indicating it is readable by the camera.
- 11.5 Support: If the Micro-SD card is not readable, please contact support for assistance.
Troubleshooting Table
No. | Description | Solutions and Operation |
---|---|---|
1 | What to do if the message "Connection could not be established" appears? | 1) Check your WLAN name and password. 2) Note: If your camera does not support 5G, please use a 2.4G network. 3) Ensure your camera and phone are near the router. 4) Contact customer service via email to resolve your issue within 24 hours. |
2 | How to reset the device to factory settings? | 1) Press and hold the Reset button for five seconds. 2) Listen for the "Bugu" tone. 3) Observe the slowly blinking red light. |
3 | How to connect the camera to a new WLAN network? | 1) Press the Reset button to reset the camera to factory settings. 2) Remove the camera in the CocoCam App. 3) Re-establish the connection. |
4 | Why are images shown without people? | 1) The camera needs time to wake up, and people are moving too fast. 2) Objects emitting heat may be detected by the PIR sensor. In this case, reduce the PIR alarm sensitivity. |
5 | Why do I receive frequent alarms? | The environment or the number of vehicles where you installed the camera frequently triggers the cameras. Change the camera's alarm sensitivity to low. |
6 | How can people pass by without triggering the alarm? | The PIR inspection range has a range limitation. The person may be too far or too close, or the person quickly passes through the video angle and is not detected by the PIR. |
7 | No Alarm Push | Activate Cococam app notifications in mobile settings. |
8 | No Alarm Video Recording | Insert the Micro-SD card or activate cloud storage. |
9 | Device Offline | Check if the network is operational. It's possible the camera is mounted too far from the router, causing the WLAN to not function correctly. |
10 | Video Lag | Check the WLAN network. The camera and router should not be too far apart. |
11 | Short Battery Life | The camera wakes up too often and should not be placed on the roadside or in direct sunlight. |
12 | Cococam App Crashing | 1) Your phone's system version may be too low or too high, causing poor compatibility. Uninstall and reinstall the APP. 2) Contact customer service with your camera model number and phone system number. |
13 | Account Cannot Be Registered | 1) When registering an account, ensure you select the correct country. 2) You do not need to enter a verification code. Simply follow the process to register your account. |
14 | It is not possible to add a friend | Your account and your friend's account must be registered in the same country or region. For example, accounts in Europe and America cannot add each other as friends. |
