Introduction
The IPCAI538 Vandal Dome is a robust metal-exterior IP camera suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It features onboard face detection, iSENSE compatibility for Face Recognition with the latest Zip NVR firmware, up to 40m IR range, 8MP resolution, built-in PoE, and H.265/H.264 codec support.

Connectivity and Powering
The camera offers multiple connection options:
- RJ45 Socket: For network connection (weather-proof cap supplied).
- 2.1mm 12V DC Socket: For direct power input. The camera is polarity sensitive; consumption is 400mA.
- Audio In Phono Socket: For audio input.
- Audio Out Phono Socket: For audio output.
- Alarm In / Out: For alarm system integration.
Powering Options:
Option 1: 12V DC Power
Connect a 12V DC power supply to the 2.1mm DC socket. Ensure correct polarity as the camera is sensitive.
Option 2: PoE (Power over Ethernet)
Connect the camera directly to a ZIP PoE NVR's built-in PoE switch using an RJ45 cable (CAT5e/CAT6, up to 100m max). The camera should automatically become visible on the network within approximately one minute.
If using a separate PoE switch or an IPmitter (wireless bridge), manual configuration is required. Refer to the guide at: zipdvr.com/howto/TIP459
Installation Steps
Follow these steps to install the camera:
- Loosen the three Torx screws on the upper housing and lift it off. A Torx key is supplied.
- Screw the camera's base onto the mounting surface using the provided screws and wall plugs.
- Once positioned, replace the upper housing and fasten the three Torx screws.
