ZIP SEE768 8MP Eyeball 2.8mm Built In Mic
Introduction
The all new Audio over Coax TVI eyeball cameras are ideal for use outdoors and also look great indoors. The SEE768 is a great compact piece of equipment that can be subtly added to your property. The wide angle 2.8mm lens means that you still get a good view of the area even from a compact camera.
Tools & Handy Extras
- Screwdriver
- Drill
- 12V DC PSU
- Drill bits
- BNC Crimp Tool & BNCs
- RG59 Coax Cable
- Digital Multi-Meter
- LCD400K - CCTV Test monitor
Connections
The camera features a 2.1mm DC socket which requires a 12V DC power supply. It is recommended to use a regulated power supply rated above the camera's current draw. The camera is polarity sensitive, so connections must be made correctly.
The camera has a standard BNC connector for video output. This output can be changed to AHD, CVI, or CVBS if required via the camera's menu.
4-In-1 Technology
This camera offers selectable HD-TVI, HD-CVI, AHD, and CVBS (Analogue) output. By default, the camera is set to HD-TVI, but the output can be changed to AHD, CVI, or CVBS through the camera's menu. Note that changing the "Mode" in the DVR's menu will not change the camera's output format, as the camera's menu settings override the DVR's.
Refer to the OSD Menu section (page 3) for instructions on accessing and changing the video format.
OSD Menu
Access to the camera's menu is managed by Coaxitron. For ZIP DVRs, ZIP Coaxitron is set as the default method.
To access the Cameras Menu via coaxitron:
- Click on the image in Live view.
- Click on the PTZ button at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the IRIS + / centre button to display the menu.
Navigation within the menu is done using the directional arrows: use up and down arrows to move through menu items, and left and right arrows to change options. Use the IRIS + button to select and enter a menu option.

Note: Settings like Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Saturation, and NR have a default value indicated in parentheses.
5.2 Key Menu Settings
Exposure Mode: AUTO / GLOBE / GLOBAL sets the required shutter speed based on the current light level, automatically detecting the necessary exposure time for the digital sensor. The FLK option helps synchronize the shutter speed with lighting to minimize pulsing effects.
White Balance: Adjusts the camera's color settings to ensure objects appear natural. ATW / PRO (Automatic Tracking White Balance) continuously tracks and adjusts the white balance, making it suitable for cameras where image content and lighting conditions change.
Day & Night: The camera can be set to color or B&W mode, or it can automatically switch. The 'External' setting is the default, where the switch between color and black & white is controlled by an external trigger, such as a light-dependent resistor.
DNR (Noise Reduction): This process removes noise from the video signal using a digital filter. 2D noise reduction targets noise in the foreground, while 3D noise reduction addresses noise in both the foreground and background of the image.
D-WDR: Digitally adjusts exposure in different areas of the frame to maintain optimal levels in both dark and bright regions of an image. Note: Some models may not feature the D-WDR function.
Reset: Defaults the camera to factory settings. This is useful for troubleshooting issues by ensuring all settings are returned to their original state.
Audio Over COAX
As of March 2022, Audio over COAX (Coaxial Audio) is compatible with the ZIP SUPA-S range of recorders. Standard SUPA recorders are not compatible with Audio over COAX.
To enable this feature on a SUPA-S recorder, navigate to System > General > Audio Input Type, select 'Coaxial Audio', and then select 'Apply'.

Troubleshooting
7.1 Camera Rebooting / Turning Off
- Check the voltage to the camera (under load) using a digital multi-meter. If it is below 10.8V, move the power supply closer to the camera.
- For 12V DC cameras, use only a regulated power supply rated above the current consumption to ensure the camera receives the correct supply.
- Use thicker gauge copper cabling to reduce voltage drop to the camera. Thicker cable reduces resistance between the camera and power supply, thus minimizing voltage drop along the cable.
- Ensure that the BNC to BNC lead connected between the camera and DVR has no shorts between the ground and the centre core (positive), or open circuits along the centre core or ground.
7.2 Poor Quality Images
- Check the video format configured on the DVR (digital video recorder) and then set the camera to the relevant video format (refer to the 4-In-1 Technology section).
- If the camera is set to CVBS, this indicates a low-quality video output suitable for legacy systems. For 2 MegaPixel DVRs or above, use a different video format like HD-TVI.
- Reset the camera's menu via Zip Coaxitron (refer to OSD Menu section).
- Verify that the DVR (digital video recorder) supports the camera's resolution.
7.3 Image is Black & White
- Check the video format supported by your DVR and set the camera to the relevant video format (refer to the 4-In-1 Technology section).
- Reset the camera's menu via Zip Coaxitron (refer to OSD Menu section).
- Verify that the DVR (digital video recorder) supports the camera's resolution.
7.4 NCD / No Image Displayed on Recorder
General Maintenance
- Routinely clean the camera to prevent dust build-up, which can affect performance. It is recommended to use a damp, non-abrasive microfibre cloth.
- Routinely check connections for power and data to ensure there is no water ingress or corrosion.
- Confirm that the cameras are firmly attached to the wall or mounting bracket.
- Check playback on the recorder to ensure the camera is recording and triggering properly.
