Introduction and Support

This user manual is for the TCL onetouch 4043 (T313D) mobile phone. Minor differences may exist between the manual's descriptions and the phone's operation, depending on the software version or carrier services.

Finding the Serial or IMEI Number: The serial or IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number can be found on the packaging. Alternatively, press *#06# on the phone or navigate to Settings > Legal Information and Safety > IMEI.

1. Your Mobile Phone

1.1 Keys and Connectors

The phone features the following buttons and connectors:

  • 1. SOS Button ?: For emergency calls.
  • 2. Headset Connector ?: For connecting headphones.
  • 3. Volume Button ?: Adjusts call and media volume.
  • 4. Type-C Input ?: For charging and data transfer.
  • 5. Speaker ?: For audio output.
  • 6. Camera ?: For taking photos and videos.
  • 7. Flashlight ?: Provides illumination.

OK Button: Confirms an option (press the center). On the home screen, pressing it accesses the application list.

Left Softkey: Confirms an option.

Call Button ?: Answers or makes calls. Pressing it from the home screen accesses the call list.

Right Softkey (Back): Accesses Contacts from the home screen.

End Button ❌: Ends a call, cancels dialing, or returns to the home screen. Long press to power off or restart the phone.

Navigation Keys: Navigate up, down, left, or right in menus. When the screen is idle:

  • Up: Access Calendar ?
  • Down: Access Camera ?
  • Right: Access Entertainment ?
  • Left: Access Tools ?️

'5' Button: When idle, press to enter '5'. Long press to turn the flashlight on/off.

'*' Button: When idle, press to enter '*'. Long press to lock the screen. In edit mode, press to enter symbols.

'#' Button: When idle, press to enter '#'. Long press to toggle vibration mode. In edit mode, press to change input method.

1.2 Getting Started

1.2.1 Setup

Removing the back cover and inserting the battery: Follow the visual guide (diagrams show steps 1-4).

Inserting or removing SIM/microSD card: Place the SIM card with the chip facing down and slide it into the slot. Ensure it is properly seated. To remove, press and pull. Turn off the phone before inserting or removing cards.

1.2.2 Turning on the phone

Press and hold the End button until the phone turns on. It may take a few seconds for the screen to light up. Press the Left Softkey, then the Right Softkey (OK) to unlock the phone. The phone will turn on even without a SIM card installed.

1.2.3 Turning off the phone

Press and hold the End button, then select and press "Power off".

1.3 Home Screen

The home screen displays the time, date, and status indicators. It provides quick access to main functions.

Status Bar: Displays notifications and status icons (e.g., network signal ?, battery ?, message ✉️, silent mode ?, headset connected ?, SIM card status ?, alarm set ⏰).

1.4 Application List

Access the application list by pressing the Left Softkey or OK button from the home screen. Two display modes are available: Super icon mode (large, attractive icons) and 3x3 mode (traditional grid with smaller icons and text descriptions). Select your preferred mode via Settings > Appearance.

2. Call Lists

2.1 Making Calls

Dial the desired number and press the Call button ? to make the call. Alternatively, select a contact from the Contacts list using the Right Softkey. Use the Navigation Keys to scroll through contacts and press the Call button. Press the Right Softkey to delete incorrect digits. Press the End button ❌ to cancel a call.

International Calls: To make an international call, press * twice to enter '+', then dial the country code, followed by the full number, and press the Call button.

2.2 Answering or Rejecting Calls

When a call comes in:

  • Press the Left Softkey or Call button ? to answer.
  • Press the Right Softkey or End button ❌ to reject.

2.3 Accessing Voicemail

Press and hold the '1' key to call voicemail. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your voicemail account.

3. Messages

Use the messaging feature to send and receive text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages.

3.1 Writing a Message

From the home screen, press OK, select Messages > Options > New chat. Enter the recipient's number or select from Contacts. Use the navigation keys to type your message. Press OK or the Left Softkey to select Options > Send.

Typing a Message:

  • For normal text input, press number keys 2-9 for the desired character. If the next letter is on the same key, press the key repeatedly.
  • Press the '#' key to switch between input modes (Abc, abc, ABC, 123) or writing languages.
  • Press the '*' key for punctuation or special characters.
  • Press the Right Softkey to delete characters one by one.

Settings: In the Messages screen, go to Options > Settings to configure message center, validity period, status reports, and reply path.

3.2 Sending a Multimedia Message

MMS allows sending videos, pictures, contacts, and sounds. In the Message screen, select Options > Add to attach files. SMS messages are automatically converted to MMS when media files are attached.

3.3 How to type a message

In Edit mode, use the keyboard to change input methods. Press and hold keys for numbers or use predictive text. Press '#' to set the desired text input mode.

4. Contacts

4.1 Accessing Contacts

Access contacts quickly from the home screen by pressing OK and selecting Contacts, or by pressing the Right Softkey.

From the contact list, you can:

  • Press the Left Softkey for more options.
  • Press OK to view contact details.
  • Press the Right Softkey to return to the application list or home screen.

4.2 Adding a Contact

From the contact list, select Options > New to add a new contact with details.

Press the Left Softkey to save when finished.

4.3 Editing Contacts

Select a contact, press OK for Details, select Options > Edit, and press OK to modify.

4.4 Deleting a Contact

From the contact list, press the Left Softkey to access Options, select Delete, and press OK.

4.5 Available Options

From the call list or contacts screen, you can:

  • Call: Call the selected contact.
  • Send Message: Send an SMS to the contact.
  • New: Create a new contact on your phone or SIM card.
  • Edit: Modify the selected contact.
  • Delete Multiple Contacts: Delete one or more contacts simultaneously.

Other Contact Options

  • Import/Export: Copy contacts to phone/SIM, import, or export contacts.
  • Send vCard: Share contact via SMS/MMS/Bluetooth.
  • Speed Dial: Set up contacts for quick dialing.
  • Memory Status: View phone and SIM card memory status.
  • My Number: Set your name and mobile number.

5. SOS ?

From the home screen, press OK and select SOS. To set SOS contacts, use the navigation keys to select "Contact list". To edit the default message, select "Message". The SOS mode is enabled by default. To confirm, select "Activation" and press OK. In emergencies, press and hold the SOS button to activate an alarm, send automatic help messages, and dial preset emergency numbers.

6. Gallery ?️

The Gallery functions as a media player for images and videos. Access it from the home screen by pressing OK and selecting Gallery.

7. Camera ?

Your phone is equipped with a camera for photos and videos.

7.1 Camera

Access the camera from the home screen by pressing OK and selecting Camera. Position your subject and press OK to take a photo. Press the Left Softkey to save.

7.2 Video Recording

To record video, press the Left Softkey, select More options > Video mode, and press OK to start recording. Press the Left Softkey to finish. Videos are saved automatically and can be viewed in the Gallery.

8. Tools ?️

  • 8.1 Alarm ⏰: The phone has a built-in alarm with snooze function. Up to 3 alarms can be set.
  • 8.2 Clock: Displays local time based on SIM card. You can add other cities.
  • 8.3 Flashlight ?: Press OK to turn the flashlight on/off.
  • 8.4 Calculator ?: Use navigation keys and the central softkey to perform calculations (+, -, ×, ÷, =).
  • 8.5 Calendar ?: Track appointments and events. Create new events by selecting a date, pressing OK, filling in details, and saving with the Left Softkey. Supports up to 20 calendar entries.
  • 8.6 My Files ?: Manage files stored on the phone, including microSD cards and internal memory.
  • 8.7 Magnifier ?: Press to activate the magnifier.
  • 8.8 Converter ?: Supports weight and length conversions.

9. Entertainment ?

This menu offers options like music, FM radio, voice recorder, Facebook, games, and Opera Mini, depending on your device. Access via home screen > OK > Entertainment.

10. Settings ⚙️

Access settings from the home screen by pressing OK and selecting Settings.

10.1 Phone Settings

  • Date & Time: Adjust date and time settings, including 12/24 hour format. You can also set automatic time updates.
  • Language Settings: Customize display and typing languages. Availability may vary by model and software version.
  • Shortcut Settings: Customize shortcuts for quick access to functions like contacts, messages, and camera.
  • Auto Power On/Off: Set desired times and days for automatic power on/off.
  • Battery Charging: View battery charging status.
  • Browser Selection: Choose your preferred internet browser.
  • Restore to Factory Settings: Resets the device to factory defaults. Back up data before proceeding. Default password is 1234.

10.2 Profiles

Configure sound profiles for different scenarios: Normal, Silent, Meeting, Indoor, Outdoor.

10.3 Bluetooth ?

Pair devices to exchange data like videos, pictures, and audio within Bluetooth range.

10.4 Display

Adjust screen effects, wallpaper, and auto-lock settings for a personalized experience.

10.5 Appearance

Choose between Super icon mode and 3x3 mode for the application list.

10.6 Security

Protect your phone with PIN and password (default: 1234). You can also activate PIN2 for fixed dialing. The phone may require a PIN for activation or when using certain SIM card functions (FDN). You can change the phone's password and enable privacy features to lock specific applications. The End button can also be used to lock the screen.

10.7 Call Settings

  • Dual SIM Card: Manage two phone numbers on one device.
  • Call Forwarding: Activate, cancel, or approve call forwarding.
  • Call Waiting: Activate/deactivate notifications for incoming calls.
  • Call Barring: Restrict certain types of calls for privacy and security.
  • Hide ID: Mask your identity during calls for anonymity.
  • Other: Includes call minute reminders, auto redial, vibration on connection, and SMS replies to rejected calls.

10.8 Network Settings

  • Network Selection: Choose between Automatic and Manual network selection.
  • Network Type: Select 2G/3G/4G (automatic), 2G/3G (automatic), 3G only, or 2G only.
  • VoLTE: Select VoLTE if available.
  • Network Information: View network details.

10.9 Connectivity

Configure data accounts, roaming, data connections, and priority SIM settings.

10.10 STK (SIM Toolkit)

Provides SIM card management functions and services.

10.11 Voice Report

Turn voice reporting on or off.

10.12 SOS Call Setup

Refer to the SOS section for details.

10.13 Check for Updates

Check for system updates.

10.14 Call Filter

Control calls, block unwanted numbers, and create custom blacklists.

10.15 Legal Information and Security

View device information such as Model, Manufacturer, IMEI, CU-Reference, etc.

10.16 About Phone

View Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

10.17 Version Information

View the software version.

11. Troubleshooting

Before contacting service, try these solutions:

  • Phone won't turn on or is frozen: Check battery contacts, reinsert battery, and try turning on. Ensure battery is charged for at least 20 minutes.
  • Phone not responding: Restart by pressing and holding the End button ❌. Alternatively, remove and reinsert the battery, then restart.
  • Phone turns off by itself: Check if the phone is locked. Ensure you haven't accidentally turned it off. Check battery level.
  • Phone not charging properly: Use only TCL batteries and chargers. Ensure the battery is correctly inserted. If the battery was deeply discharged, it may take 20 minutes for the charging indicator to appear. Charging should occur within 0°C to +40°C. Check power compatibility when abroad.
  • Cannot connect to network or "Service not available" message: Try connecting from a different location. Check network coverage with your carrier. Ensure your SIM card is valid. Try manual network selection. Try connecting later if the network is busy.
  • Cannot connect to the internet: Verify internet access service with your carrier. Check phone internet connection settings. Ensure you are in an area with network coverage.
  • Invalid SIM card: Ensure the SIM card is inserted correctly. Check for damage to the SIM card chip. Verify that the SIM card service is active.
  • Cannot make outgoing calls: Dial the correct number. For international calls, include the country code. Ensure the phone is connected to the network and the network is not overloaded. Check your subscription status (credit, validity). Check if outgoing calls are barred. Ensure the phone is not in flight mode.
  • Cannot receive calls: Ensure the phone is on and connected to the network. Check your subscription status. Check for call forwarding or call barring settings. Ensure the phone is not in flight mode.
  • Caller ID not displayed: Check with your carrier if the service is subscribed. The caller may have hidden their name or number.
  • Cannot find contacts: Check if the SIM card directory is full; delete old entries or save to phone memory.
  • Poor call quality: Adjust volume using the Volume button ?. Check network signal strength. Ensure the receiver, connector, and microphone are clean.
  • Cannot use described functions: Check with your carrier if your subscription includes the feature. The feature might require additional TCL accessories.
  • Cannot dial number from directory: Verify the number is entered correctly. Include the country code for international calls.
  • Cannot add contact: Check if the SIM card directory is full; delete old entries or save to phone memory.
  • Callers cannot leave voicemail: Contact your mobile carrier to check service availability.
  • Cannot access voicemail: Ensure the correct voicemail number is entered. Try again later if the network is busy.
  • SIM card locked: Contact your carrier for the PUK code.
  • Other devices cannot detect phone via Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is on and the phone is discoverable. Ensure both devices are within Bluetooth range.
  • How to transfer data between phone and computer: Connect the phone to a computer using a data cable and select "SD card" on the phone to transfer data between the phone and computer.
