Features

Items included in package:

Product Configuration

The Brookstone WiFi Video Doorbell features a sleek, vertical design. On the front, from top to bottom, are the Camera Lens, Microphone, a Status Light, and the main Button (bell icon). On the back, there are External Power ports at the top, a Speaker, a Micro SD Card Slot, a Reset Button, and a USB Port at the bottom. The device is designed for easy installation and connectivity.

What's in the Box

The package includes the following components:

Installing Camera without Angled Bracket

CAUTION: Before handling wiring of your house make sure to turn off the breaker in the fuse box to your existing doorbell to avoid injury or death.

  1. After turning power off, remove the old doorbell.
  2. Place the bracket on the wall and mark where screws will go. The bracket is a vertical oval shape with screw holes at the top and bottom, and an 'UP' arrow indicating orientation.
  3. If installing on brick or concrete, use (B) wall anchors. If installing on wood or metal, use (A) screws. The wall anchor is a ribbed cylindrical plug, and the screw is a standard pointed screw.
  4. Attach the bracket to the wall using (A) screws. Ensure the bracket is level. Run the wires coming from the house through the opening in the bracket. Make sure the bracket is installed with the (UP) arrow pointing up. The bracket has a central elongated opening for wires.
  5. Attach wires from the house to wires on the camera using the wire terminal. (Users can use their own twist-on connectors if preferred). It does not matter which wire connects to which wire from the house. The doorbell's back panel shows two external power ports for wire connection.
  6. Fit the camera into the bracket and use the (D) screw at the bottom of the bracket to secure the camera. The (D) screw location is at the very bottom edge of the mounted bracket.

Installing Camera with Angled Bracket

  1. If the camera needs to be angled left or right, use the included angled bracket.
  2. If choosing to install the angled bracket, install it directly onto the wall before the camera bracket in the desired angled position using (A) screws and (B) wall anchors if needed. The angled bracket is a wedge-shaped piece that fits between the wall and the main camera bracket.
  3. Attach the camera bracket to the angled bracket using (C) screws. Then follow steps 5 and 6 from the "Installing Camera without Angled Bracket" section.

Installing Mechanical Chime Kit

CAUTION: Before installing the mechanical chime, make sure to turn off the breaker in the fuse box to the mechanical chime box to avoid injury or death.

  1. Locate the mechanical chime, which is typically a rectangular box that produces sound when the doorbell is rung. It may be mounted immediately inside the front door. Once found, remove its cover.
  2. Locate the Chime Kit included in the packaging and the terminals inside the chime. Connect one of the Chime Kit's prongs to the transformer terminal (usually labeled TRANS, T, AC, or 0). Connect the other prong to the chime's front terminal (usually labeled FRONT, F, 1, or C1). Either prong on the Chime Kit can be connected to either of the terminals on the chime. The chime kit has two wires ending in spade connectors. The mechanical chime box typically has terminals labeled REAR, TRANS, and FRONT.

NOTICE: The Chime kit is not compatible with all mechanical chimes. It is designed for mechanical chimes that are 16V AC at 10VA. Compatibility with chimes lacking this rating cannot be guaranteed.

  1. To connect the prongs, slightly unscrew both screw terminals and place prongs from the Chime Kit under each screw, then tighten. The color of the wire from the Chime Kit does not matter for connection to a specific screw.
  2. Using the included 3M adhesive, stick the Chime Kit to the chime wherever there is space and replace the cover. Be careful not to interfere with any of the chime's moving parts. If there is not enough room to mount inside, mount it on the outside of the chime. Then replace the chime's cover.

Add Device

  1. Plug in the Video Doorbell with a USB cable into a USB block in an outlet or connect to the electrical wiring of the house. Wait for the red light to blink rapidly (this may take up to 2 minutes). If the red light does not blink fast, insert the provided reset pin gently into the reset hole for 3-6 seconds, then release. Wait a few seconds; the doorbell should chime, and the red light should start blinking rapidly. The camera is now ready to be set up.
  2. Ensure the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, specifically a 2.4GHz network.
  3. Press the plus symbol (+) in the top right corner of the app or press "Add Device" and select "Smart Camera" from the list of devices to add. The app screen shows various device categories like Vacuum, Door/Window Sensor, Motion Sensor, Smart Camera, etc.
  4. Make sure the red light is still blinking fast. If it is, press "next step", then "Next" in the app. The app screen shows a circular indicator with a red light, prompting to reset the device if the light is not flashing quickly.
  5. Ensure the phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network that the device will connect to. Enter the password for that Wi-Fi network. The app screen prompts to select a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Network and enter the password, with options for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
  6. Follow the directions in the app and hold the QR code displayed on the screen in front of the camera's view. After hearing a prompt, the light on the doorbell will turn blue and start blinking. The app screen displays a QR code and instructions to scan it from 15 to 20 cm away.
  7. The connecting process will begin. Do not turn off the Video Doorbell or phone while connecting. Wait for the connection process to complete. The app screen shows an "Adding device..." message with a spinning search icon and a timer.
  8. Once the device has been successfully added, the light will be solid blue. The doorbell camera can be named in the app by pressing the pencil icon next to "Video Doorbell". After naming, press "Done". The app screen confirms "Added." and shows "Video Doorbell" with a checkmark and "Device added successfully".

Chime Selection

  1. On the next screen, the user will be asked if they will be using an existing mechanical chime or no chime at all. The app screen shows "Please select the chime" with options for "Mechanical chime" and "None".
  2. If "Mechanical chime" is selected, refer to the "Installing Mechanical Chime Kit" section of this manual to install the included chime kit.
  3. Once a selection is made, press "Complete" to be directed back to the control panel screen of the video doorbell.

Notifications can always be received on a phone, tablet, and smart watch even if a mechanical chime is not used.

Chime Settings

  1. If the doorbell was set up by connecting it to a micro USB cable first, unplug it and begin installation where the old doorbell was. Once the video doorbell is hooked up to the house's electrical system, it should automatically reconnect to the Wi-Fi network. If it does not, repeat the setup steps.

The chime option of the video doorbell can always be changed in the settings later. Select "Bell Settings" from the settings and then select the desired chime type. The app settings screen shows "Bell Settings" under "ADVANCED SETTINGS", and within "Bell Settings", there is a "Chime Type" option, which can be set to "None" or other options.

  1. From the home screen, click on the device to be removed. The app's home screen shows the live video feed of the doorbell, labeled "Front Door".

  3. From there, click the "Remove Device" button at the bottom of the screen. The settings screen for the device includes options like Detection Alarm Settings, Bell Settings, Onvif, Offline Notification, FAQ & Feedback, Share Device, Add to Home Screen, Device Update, and Remove Device.

Features can be controlled from the live video feed. A volume button is available to mute and unmute the live feed. Next to the volume button is the video quality button, which can be used to switch between standard and high definition video.
