Download App

To control your Brookstone WiFi Camera, download the "Brookstone Smart" app:

  1. Android: Download "Brookstone Smart" app on Google Play.
  2. iPhone: Download "Brookstone Smart" app from the App Store.

The app icon features the text "Brookstone SMART" on a dark gray background. You can find direct links or scan QR codes for download from the respective app stores.

Registration and Login

To begin using the app:

  1. Run the “Brookstone Smart" app from your smartphone.
  2. Register and login.

The app's initial screen shows a "Register" button and an option to "Log in with existing account". After logging in, the main dashboard displays weather information (e.g., temperature, humidity, air pressure) and categories for devices (All devices, Living Room, Bedroom). A large plus symbol (+) within a house icon indicates where to add a new device.

Add Device

Follow these steps to add your Wi-Fi Camera:

  1. Plug in the Wi-Fi Camera into the wall. Press the reset button for 6 seconds, then release and wait 15-25 seconds. The light will start blinking, and you will hear a chime sound, indicating the camera is ready for setup.
  2. Ensure your phone is connected to your Wi-Fi network and that it is a 2.4GHz network.
  3. Press the plus symbol (+) in the top right corner of the app and select "Smart Camera" from the list of devices to add. The device selection screen shows various smart devices like Smart Controller, Smart Outlet, Smart Plug, Light Switch, Smart Bulb, Motion Sensor, Water Sensor, and Door/Window Sensor, with "Smart Camera" highlighted.
  4. Press the "next step" button.
  5. Confirm your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network the device will connect to. Enter your password for the Wi-Fi network. The app screen prompts to select 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Network and enter password, with options for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
  6. Follow the directions in the app and hold the QR code displayed on your phone screen in front of the camera's view, at a distance of 15 to 20 cm.
  7. The connecting process will begin. Do not turn off the Wi-Fi Camera or phone while connecting. Wait for the connection process to complete. A progress circle shows the connection percentage (e.g., 6%).
  8. Once the device has been successfully added, name the device as desired in the app. The Wi-Fi Camera is now ready for use. The app confirms "Device added successfully" and allows you to assign the camera to a room (e.g., Living Room, Bedroom, Dining Room, Kitchen, Study Room).

Push Notifications

Manage notifications for your connected devices:

  1. You can turn on/off notifications for all devices connected to the app by clicking on the “Me” button at the bottom right of the screen. The "Me" tab provides options like "Click here to set nickname", "Home Management", "Message Center", "Help Center", and "Settings".
  2. Then click on the "Settings" button. From there, you can turn on/off all notifications using a toggle switch next to "Push Notification". Other settings include "Sound", "About", and "Clear Cache".

Remove a Device

To remove a device from your app:

  1. From the home screen, click on the device you would like to remove. The camera's live feed is displayed with options for Screenshot, Speak, Record, Playback, Alarm, and Cloud storage.
  2. Then click on the edit symbol (three dots) on the top right of the screen. This opens a settings menu.
  3. From there, you would then click the "Remove Device" button at the bottom of the screen. The settings menu includes "Device Name", "Share Device", "Device Information", "Basic function settings", "Motion detection", "Memory card settings", "Feedback", and "Firmware information".

App Functions

Live Video

To view live video, simply click on the device under "All devices" in the app. Your live video feed will appear at the top immediately. To view footage at full screen, tilt your phone sideways or tap the full screen button (a square with arrows pointing outwards) in the bottom right corner of the live video.

Video Recording

To record video, press the "Record" button on the main camera screen. Press it again to end recording. To view recordings, scroll down on the main camera page and press the "Photo Album" button. All video recordings and photos taken will be stored in the photo album. To view all footage recorded by your camera, press "Playback". Optional cloud storage can be purchased by clicking on "Cloud Storage" if a micro SD card is not inserted in your camera.

Taking a Photo

To take a photo, press "Screenshot" (a camera icon) and the photo will be saved to your phone in the photos and video section.

Infrared Night Vision

Infrared night vision is controlled automatically by the camera. When the area around the camera becomes too dark, infrared night vision will activate automatically. When the area around the camera is bright again, night vision will deactivate automatically.

Two Way Audio

To activate two-way audio, press the "Speak" button (a microphone icon). When the button turns blue, whatever you say into your phone will be broadcast through the camera's speaker. Simultaneously, you can hear sounds from the live video feed on your phone.

Motion Detection

The camera uses infrared sensors to detect movement within its detection area. Push notifications will be sent to your phone once motion is detected.

To access motion detection controls, press the camera settings button (three dots) at the top right. On the next page, select "Motion detection". From there, you can turn it on/off and set the sensitivity (Low, Medium, High). This setting can also be accessed by hitting the "Alarm" button on the main camera page.

Sharing the Device

To share access to your camera with another Brookstone Smart account user:

  1. Press the camera options button (three dots) at the top right of the main camera screen.
  2. Then hit “Share Device".
  3. On the next page, press "Add Sharing" at the bottom.
  4. Enter the email associated with the person's Brookstone Smart account with whom you wish to share the camera. They will receive a notification to accept, granting them access to view your camera through the Brookstone Smart app on their phone. The sharing interface allows selecting Country/Region and entering the recipient's mobile number or email.
