Important Considerations:
- Fitting panniers, crash bars, foot peg lowering kits, kickstand enlargements, front spoilers, and engine guards may restrict the motorcycle's lean angle.
- If modifying fairing, stem, handlebar, or other parts, ensure electrical wiring, brake lines, accelerator, and clutch cables are refitted correctly. Check clearance with full steering lock in both directions.
- Always disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems.
- It is recommended to apply protective film to areas prone to stone chips.
- Work on the brake system and suspension should only be carried out by a specialist workshop.
Load Limits:
- Maximum load for luggage racks: 5 kg.
- Maximum load for ZegaPro TC luggage racks: 10 kg.
Accessory Compatibility: When using original or aftermarket accessories, verify clearance, fitment, and check for potential collisions with other parts.
Bolt Preparation: Apply conventional lubricant to stainless steel bolts before assembly.
PDF Download: Fitting instructions are also available for download in PDF format from the Touratech webshop.
Assembly Steps
The order of assembly steps must be followed.
Step 1: Prepare the protective film. Cut to size and apply to impact areas likely to be chipped by stones.
Step 2: Mount the headlight guard using the provided hardware. The fitting of the left and right side is identical.
Refer to the diagrams for specific placement of components:
- Use M4 x 8 bolts for initial mounting points.
- Use M6 x 14 bolts for securing the main guard structure.
- Use M5 x 14 bolts with spacers for the lower mounting points.
Diagram Description:
The diagrams illustrate the installation of the headlight guard onto the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S/R. The first diagram shows the components laid out: the protective film, the headlight guard itself, and the hardware (bolts and spacers). It indicates the use of M4 x 8 bolts for attaching brackets to the guard, M6 x 14 bolts for securing the guard to the motorcycle's fairing, and M5 x 14 bolts with spacers for the lower mounting points. The second diagram shows the assembled headlight guard attached to the motorcycle, with callouts indicating the mounting points labeled '1' and '2'.
Final Check: Ensure all connections are secure and that the guard does not interfere with the operation of the headlights or other motorcycle functions.
