Important Safety Instructions
Warning:
To prevent electric shock, make sure the lamp is not plugged in until all assembly steps are complete.
Caution: Tip Hazard
Do not move the shade or accessories outside of the shaded area as shown in Figure 1. Shade and accessories must be kept within the shaded area and must align in the same forward-facing direction as the base.
Polarized Plug Warning:
This portable lamp has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) as a feature to reduce the risk of electric shock. This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted. Do not alter the plug.
To prevent electric shock, match the wide blade of the plug to the wide slot and fully insert.
Cord Damage Warning:
If the external flexible cable or cord of this luminaire is damaged, it shall be exclusively replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similar qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Indoor use only.
Operation Note:
Please note that in operation, OttLite® bulbs are not dimmable. Enjoy your OttLite® Extended Reach Floor Lamp!
This lighting system is designed for use with OttLite® type (Style Number PL24-C). Use of other products voids the warranty and may result in damage to the lighting system.
Assembly Instructions
Lamp Assembly
- Remove lamp from packing, placing the base (D) on a flat steady surface (the floor).
- To ease assembly, straighten the flex neck (G) so that the shade (H), neck, and pole (F) are in a straight line.
- Firmly insert the foot (E) of the pole (F) into the hole in the base (D), then lay the lamp on its side with the bottom of the base exposed.
- Remove hardware (A, B, C) from the plastic bag included with the base. Note: On occasions, washers (B) and (C) may be one solid washer that will serve the same purpose.
- Place the lock washer (C), then the flat washer (B) over bolt (A). Insert the bolt into the bottom of the base to engage the pole.
- Tighten bolt (A) turning clockwise until firm.
- Set the lamp upright and follow Tube Insertion/Replacement directions to insert the tube.
- Plug the power cord into a standard 120v socket.
- To turn the lamp on or off, depress the pushbutton switch (K) located at the pole end of the shade (H).
- Position shade (H) as desired by flexing the neck. To avoid lamp breakage, do not force the neck to bend.
Figure 1 Description: Depicts the floor lamp base and pole, indicating a shaded area around the lamp head and neck which defines the safe zone for positioning accessories or the shade itself. Accessories must remain within this zone and aligned with the base.
Adjustable Stand Attachment Assembly
- The following items should be included in the package. See Figure 2. The adjustable stand (L) and clamp (U) are already assembled. Screw-bolt (S) and Tension knob (T).
- Remove tension knob (T) and screw-bolt (S) already installed on clamp (U).
- Attach clamp (U) onto the front side of pole (F).
- Spread clamp (U) just enough to fit over the pole, as shown in Figure 2.
- Insert screw-bolt (S) into clamp (U) from the same side it was removed, as shown in Figure 2.
- Thread tension knob (T) onto the screw-bolt (S), then tighten firmly by hand. Note: Do not overtighten the tension knob, as this may damage it.
- The adjustable stand is now ready for use. See Figure 3 for proper placement of tablet or other materials.
Figure 2 Description: Illustrates the attachment of the adjustable stand clamp (labeled U) to the front of the lamp pole (labeled F). It shows the clamp being spread to fit over the pole, and a screw-bolt (labeled S) being inserted through the clamp, with a tension knob (labeled T) used to secure it.
Figure 3 Description: Shows the adjustable stand in use, demonstrating the proper placement of a tablet or other materials on the stand's arm or holder.
Tube Insertion/Replacement
- Make sure the lamp is not plugged into an electrical socket.
- If the lamp has been in use, allow it to cool for approximately 5 minutes before proceeding.
- Set the lamp upright on the floor.
- To install a tube (J) in the shade (H) socket, grasp the tube securely with your hand. Lay the tube flat, then push the tube into the shade clip. Align the tube base and pins with the socket and receptacles, then push the tube straight into the socket until it "snaps" into place. Do not apply pressure on the glass end of the tube.
- To remove a tube already installed in the lamp, grasp the tube firmly in your hand and angle it slightly out of the shade clip. Using a slight side-to-side motion, pull it straight out of the socket. Do not twist or turn the tube while removing it from the socket.
