APP Installation and Account Registration
Download 'CloudEdge' APP
Method 1: Download 'CloudEdge' or 'ieGeek Cam' APP from the APP Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Method 2: Scan the 'CloudEdge' APP QR code to download it. (Represented by two QR code symbols: one for App Store, one for Google Play).
Tips:
When using the APP for the first time, enable the following two permissions:
- Allow 'CloudEdge' APP to access mobile cellular data and wireless LAN; otherwise, adding the IP camera will fail.
- Allow 'CloudEdge' APP to receive pushed messages; otherwise, the phone will not receive alarm pushes when motion detection or audible alarms are triggered.
Register Account
New users must register by email. The steps are as follows:
- Click "Register".
- Follow the on-screen steps to complete account registration.
Note:
- When registering a new account, select the region where you are located and the correct country code. Different registered regions cannot share the camera.
- Choose to register by e-mail.
How to Add a Camera for APP
Before Using:
- Insert the Micro SD card before powering on; otherwise, the SD card may not be detected.
- Place the camera and smartphone 30-100 cm (1-3 ft) away from the router to set up Wi-Fi.
- Ensure the camera is using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi Connection Steps:
The process involves several steps, typically guided by the CloudEdge app interface:
- Tap '+' to Add Device: From the app's homepage, select the option to add a new device.
- Select Battery Camera: Choose 'Battery Camera' from the list of device types.
- Power on Camera: The app will instruct to hold the device power button for 5 seconds to start the device. If asleep, press the [battery camera] button to wake it. Keep the device near the router for the best signal.
- Reset Device: The app will prompt to reset the device. Hold the RESET button on the device for 4-5 seconds (refer to the user manual for details). Wait for a flashing RED indicator light, then tap 'Next'.
- Input Wi-Fi Password: Select a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter its password. The device does not work with 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. Confirm the Wi-Fi account and password are correct.
- Scan QR Code: Remove any film from the camera lens. Tap 'Next' in the app to display a QR code. Position the phone 10-15 cm (3.9-5.9 inches) from the camera lens to allow the device to scan the code.
- Wait for Connection: The app will show a 'Connecting Network' screen with a progress indicator. Ensure the device is energized, connected to the router, and both the device and phone are on the same network.
- Device Added: Once connected, the app will display 'Connection successful' and 'Add Successful', showing the device ID (e.g., 062169135) and a customizable name (e.g., My Camera).
Note: If the camera cannot be powered on, plug in a DC 5V 2A power adapter to charge it for 15 minutes first.
My camera fails to connect Wi-Fi?
- Before adding a device, ensure it is in a state of slow flashing red light. If the indicator status is abnormal, restore the device to factory settings by long-pressing the RESET button until a 'boogu' sound is heard.
- Ensure the camera is connected to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Network connection failures often occur when users attempt to use 5GHz Wi-Fi.
- Verify the Wi-Fi password. The Wi-Fi password should not include single quotes ('), underlines (_), spaces, or virgules (/).
- Check the number of devices connected to the router. Routers typically have connection limits. If the number of connected devices exceeds the maximum, other devices may not be able to connect.
- Ensure the QR code on the phone screen is normal and maintain a distance of 10-15cm (3.9-5.9 inches) between the phone and the camera lens during the scanning process.
- If the camera still cannot connect to Wi-Fi after checking the above, try re-downloading the APP, resetting the camera, and restarting the router, then add the camera again.
- If all steps have been tried without success, message ieGeek with the order number and problem description at service@iegeek.com.
Update router or Wi-Fi password?
Delete the camera from the CloudEdge account. After resetting the device, add it again using the new Wi-Fi and password.
Charge the Battery
The camera features a built-in battery that cannot be removed.
- Charging with Power Adapter: Charge the battery using a 5V 2A power adapter. (Depicted by a camera connected via USB cable to a wall adapter).
- Charging with Solar Panel: Charge the battery using the ieGeek Solar Panel. (Depicted by a camera connected via cable to a solar panel).
For weatherproof performance, always cover the USB charging port with the rubber plug after charging the battery.
Charging Indicator:
- Red LED: Charging
- Blue LED: Fully Charged
Installation Guides
- Install the camera 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) above ground. This height maximizes the motion sensor's detection range.
- For effective motion detection, install the camera at an angle.
NOTE: If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, the camera may fail to detect motion.
(Diagram description: A house with two floors. A camera is mounted on the exterior wall of the second floor, approximately 2-3 meters high. A red cone-shaped area extends from the camera, indicating the PIR detection range of 2-10 meters, covering the ground area below and in front of the camera. An 'A' marks the camera's position, and a 'B' marks a door.)
Notes on PIR Motion Sensor
PIR Sensor Detection Range
The PIR detection range can be customized via the CloudEdge App's Device Settings to meet specific needs. Refer to the table below:
Sensitivity | Detection Distance (For moving and living objects) |
---|---|
Level 1-3 (Low) | Up to 2-5 meters |
Level 4-7 (Med) | Up to 5-8 meters |
Level 8-10 (High) | Up to 8-10 meters |
Important Notes on Reducing False Alarms
- Do not face the camera towards objects with bright lights, including sunshine or bright lamp lights.
- Do not place the camera near outlets, including air conditioner vents, humidifier outlets, or projector heat transfer vents.
- Do not install the camera in places with strong wind.
- Do not face the camera towards a mirror.
- Keep the camera at least 1 meter away from any wireless devices, including Wi-Fi routers and phones, to avoid wireless interference.
FAQs
For more detailed FAQs, log in to the APP and search in "Me"-"FAQ"-"Help Document"-"Battery Camera".
The device prompts offline?
- Check if the equipment is powered on and if the working light is on normally.
- Check if the Wi-Fi network is in good condition and restart the router.
- If the device is far from the router, resulting in poor Wi-Fi signal, it is recommended to move the router closer or ensure the Wi-Fi signal strength is over 85% to improve home Wi-Fi performance.
- Delete the camera from the CloudEdge account and add it again after resetting the device. Check if the device firmware and application program are the latest version.
Update router or Wi-Fi password?
Delete the camera from the CloudEdge account. After resetting the device, use the new Wi-Fi and password to add it again.
Alarm push frequently?
- In the app, lower the sensitivity of the motion detection alarm.
- Check for objects in the device's field of view that interfere with and trigger the PIR sensor, such as outdoor air conditioner units, moving cars, or passing pedestrians. The device's angle can be adjusted appropriately to avoid these easily disturbing objects.
- Turn on "human motion detection" and use the humanoid algorithm to filter useless alarms.
