Adding a Camera to the App
Before Use:
- Insert the Micro-SD card before powering on the camera to ensure it is recognized.
- Place the camera and smartphone 30-100 cm (approx. 1-3 feet) from the router for Wi-Fi setup.
- Ensure the camera uses a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. It is not compatible with 5 GHz networks.
Wi-Fi Connection Steps:
Follow the on-screen instructions within the app:
- Tap the "+" icon to add a device.
- Select "Add Device" and then choose "Battery Camera".
- Ensure the device is powered on by holding the power button.
- Click the "Wireless Camera" button to activate the device.
- Reset the device by holding the RESET button for 4-5 seconds until you hear a "Boogu" sound. Wait for the LED indicator to flash red.
- Tap "Next".
- Enter your Wi-Fi network name and password (ensure it's a 2.4 GHz network).
- Tap "Next" to display a QR code on your phone screen.
- Hold your phone approximately 15-25 cm (5-8 inches) away from the camera lens for the camera to scan the QR code.
- Wait for the connection to establish. The camera will indicate successful pairing.
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure the device is powered on and connected to the router.
- Make sure the camera and phone are on the same network.
- If the device cannot be powered on, connect the 5V/2A power adapter and charge it for at least 15 minutes.
- If the device is slow to connect or offline:
- Check if the device is flashing red slowly. If not, reset it to factory settings.
- Verify that the connected Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz.
- Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct and does not contain special characters like quotes, underscores, spaces, or slashes.
- Check the number of devices connected to your router; routers have connection limits.
- Ensure the QR code on the phone screen is clear and the distance is appropriate (10-15 cm).
- Ensure good Wi-Fi coverage at the installation location (signal strength > 75%).
- Avoid using Wi-Fi extenders.
- If issues persist, try downloading the app again, resetting the camera, restarting the router, and re-adding the camera.
- If all steps fail, contact ieGeek support at service@iegeek.com with your order number and problem description.
Charging the Battery
Charge the battery using a 5V/2A power adapter or the ieGeek Solar Panel.
The battery is built-in and cannot be removed.
Charging Indicator:
- Red LED: Charging
- Blue LED: Fully Charged
To protect the camera from water, ensure the dedicated charging port is covered with the rubber plug after charging.
Installation Instructions
Mounting the Camera:
- Mark the hole positions on the wall.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the wall using screws and expansion screws.
- Align the camera base with the snap-fit of the bracket and push downwards. You should hear a "click" sound when it locks into place.
Note: The buckle must align with the camera base.
Hardware Included: 1/4 inch screws *4, Expansion screws *4.
Removing the Camera:
- Press the "Push" part of the bracket with your finger and slide the camera upwards to remove it.
Caution: Be careful not to cut your hand when pressing.
Installation Location Tips:
- Use the protective cover to shield the camera when installing outdoors.
- Install the camera 2-3 meters (approx. 6.5-10 feet) above the ground for optimal PIR sensor detection range.
- Mount the camera at a slight angle to ensure effective motion detection.
PIR Detection Range: 2-10 meters (approx. 6.5-33 feet).
Note: If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, it may not be detected.
PIR Motion Sensor Settings
You can adjust the PIR detection range according to your needs via the camera's device settings in the CloudEdge app.
Sensitivity | Detection Range (for living and moving objects) |
---|---|
Level 1-3 (High) | Up to 2-5 meters (approx. 6.5-16 feet) |
Level 4-7 (Medium) | Up to 5-8 meters (approx. 16-26 feet) |
Level 8-10 (Low) | Up to 8-10 meters (approx. 26-33 feet) |
Tips for Reducing False Alarms
- Avoid installing the camera facing bright light sources like direct sunlight or strong lamps.
- Do not place the camera too close to areas with frequent vehicle movement. The recommended distance between the camera and a vehicle is 16 meters (52 feet).
- Keep a distance from air conditioning vents, humidifiers, projectors, or other outlets. Avoid installing the camera in areas with strong winds.
- Do not point the camera directly at a mirror.
- Keep the camera at least 1 meter (approx. 3 feet) away from other wireless devices, including Wi-Fi routers and phones, to prevent interference.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Device Offline:
- Check if the device is powered on and if the status light is normal.
- Use a Wi-Fi analyzer tool to check signal strength and interference. If coverage is poor or interference is high, consider changing the installation position or router location.
- If the device is too far from the router, ensure the Wi-Fi signal strength is above 85% for optimal performance. Move the router closer if necessary.
- Remove the camera from your CloudEdge account, reset the device, and then re-add it.
- Ensure your device firmware and the app are updated to the latest versions.
Updating Router or Wi-Fi Password:
Remove the camera from your CloudEdge account. After resetting the device, re-add it using the new Wi-Fi network name and password.
Frequent Alarms:
- Reduce the motion detection sensitivity in the app.
- Check if objects in the camera's field of view are interfering with or triggering the PIR sensor (e.g., outdoor AC units, passing cars, pedestrians). Adjust the camera's angle to avoid these objects.
- Enable "Human Detection" and use the humanoid algorithm to filter out non-human motion triggers.
Camera Not Detected:
- In case of network instability, messages might not be delivered promptly. Confirm network status and move the camera to an area with better coverage for testing.
- An unsuitable installation position can prevent PIR detection. If the position is too high, the object is too far, or too small, the camera may not trigger. Adjust the installation position based on detection requirements.
Micro-SD Card Not Detected:
- Supported capacity is 16GB to 128GB Micro-SD cards.
- Format the Micro-SD card to FAT32 or exFAT file system on a computer before use. Then insert it into the camera and format it again within the camera's settings.
- If the card is not detected during use, it may be a quality issue. Consider replacing it with a more stable card.
Fast Power Consumption:
- Poor Wi-Fi coverage (e.g., signal below 75%) increases power consumption.
- High PIR trigger frequency and the use of infrared/white light at night increase power consumption.
- Frequent remote access to the camera via the mobile phone increases power consumption.
- For the first use, it is recommended to discharge the battery to 10% and then charge it to 100% to help maintain battery health.
