Add Camera to Application
Download the "Cloud Edge" Application
Download the "CloudEdge" or "ieGeek Cam" application from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Alternatively, scan the QR code for the "CloudEdge" application to download it.
Tips for App Usage:
- When using the application for the first time, enable the following two permissions:
- Allow "CloudEdge" to access mobile cellular data and wireless local network; otherwise, the IP camera cannot be added.
- Allow "CloudEdge" to receive push messages; otherwise, the phone will not receive alarms when motion detection or sound alarm is triggered.
Open an Account
New users must register via email:
- Click "Register".
- Follow the steps to complete account registration.
- Register.
Account Registration Tips:
- Use a valid email address.
- Select the correct country code.
- When registering a new account, select the region where the user is actually located. Different registration regions cannot share the camera.
How to Add a Camera to the APP
Before Use:
- Insert the Micro SD card before powering on; otherwise, the SD card may not be detected.
- Place the camera and smartphone 30 to 100 cm (1 to 3 feet) from the router to configure Wi-Fi.
- Ensure the camera uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi Connection Steps:
- Tap "+" to add a device.
- Select "Battery Camera".
- Power on the camera.
- Reset the device.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the phone with the camera.
- Wait for connection.
- Device added successfully.
Troubleshooting: Camera Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi?
Note: If the camera cannot be turned on, first plug in a DC 5V 2A power adapter to charge the camera for 15 minutes.
- Ensure the connected camera's Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz. Experience shows that network connection often fails because users use 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct. The Wi-Fi password should not include single quotes, underscores, spaces, or commas (/).
- Check the number of devices connected to the router. Routers generally have connection limits. If the number of connected devices exceeds the maximum, other devices cannot connect.
- Ensure the QR code on the phone screen is normal and the distance between the phone and the camera lens is 10 to 15 cm (3.9 to 5.9 inches) during the scanning process.
- After checking the above information, if the camera still cannot connect to Wi-Fi, try re-downloading the application, resetting the camera, and restarting the router, then add the camera again.
- Avoid using Wi-Fi extenders.
- Verify the Wi-Fi password is entered correctly.
- If all steps have been tried without success, send the order number and problem description to service@iegeek.com.
Charge the Battery
Charge the battery using a 5V 2A sector adapter. The battery is integrated and cannot be removed.
The battery can also be charged with the ieGeek solar panel.
To better protect the camera from water, cover the dedicated charging port with the rubber plug after charging.
Charging Indicator:
- Red LED: Charging
- Blue LED: Fully charged
Installation Guides
- Use the camera casing for better weather resistance when installing the camera outdoors.
- Install the camera 2-3 meters (7-10 feet) above the ground. This height maximizes the motion detector's detection range.
- For effective motion detection, install the camera at an angle.
Note: If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, the camera may not detect the movement.
Installation Diagram Description: The diagram shows a house with two potential camera installation points, A and B. Point A is on a wall, showing the camera's field of view angled downwards. Point B is near a door, also showing an angled field of view. A person icon indicates the optimal detection range for PIR, which is 2-10 meters when mounted at a height of 2-3 meters.
Notes on PIR Motion Sensor
The PIR sensor detection parameters can be customized according to user needs. Refer to the table below for configuration in the device settings on the CloudEdge application.
Sensitivity | Detection Distance (For moving and living things) |
---|---|
Level 1-3 (Low) | Up to 2-5 meters |
Level 4-7 (Medium) | Up to 5-8 meters |
Level 8-10 (High) | Up to 8-10 meters |
Important Notes for Reducing False Alarms
- Do not install the camera facing objects with bright lights, including the sun, bright lamps, etc.
- Do not place the camera too close to areas with heavy traffic. Based on ieGeek's tests, the recommended distance between the camera and a vehicle is 16 meters (52 feet).
- Do not place the camera near a power outlet, including air conditioning vents, humidification vents, projector heat transfer vents, etc.
- Do not install the camera where there is strong wind.
- Do not install the camera facing a mirror.
- Keep the camera at least 1 meter away from any wireless devices, including Wi-Fi routers and phones, to avoid wireless interference.
FAQs
For more detailed FAQs, log in to the APP and search in "Me"-"FAQ"-"Help Document"-"Battery Camera".
Is the device offline?
- Check if the device is powered on and if its operation light is normally lit.
- Try using a third-party Wi-Fi analysis tool "analyzer" to assess current Wi-Fi signal coverage and interference status. If coverage is poor and interference is significant, it is recommended to change the camera's installation position or adjust the router's position, or use a second-floor router.
- If the device is far from the router, resulting in poor Wi-Fi signal reception, it is recommended to move the router closer or ensure Wi-Fi signal strength is above 85% to improve home Wi-Fi performance.
- Remove the camera from the CloudEdge account, reset the device, and add it again.
- Ensure the device's firmware and applications are up to date.
- Avoid using Wi-Fi extenders.
Update your router or Wi-Fi password?
Remove the camera from the CloudEdge account, reset the device, then re-add it using the new Wi-Fi or password.
Is the alarm often triggered?
- In the application, lower the sensitivity of the motion detection alarm.
- Check if there are objects in the device's field of view that interfere with the IPR sensor and trigger it, such as outdoor air conditioning units, moving cars, passing pedestrians, etc. Adjust the device's angle to easily avoid these objects.
- Activate the "alarm only when people are present" option and use the humanoid algorithm to filter out unnecessary alarms.
The camera does not detect
- In case of an unstable network, the message may not be pushed in time after the PIR is triggered. In this case, first confirm the network status and remove the camera to check and confirm in an environment with good network coverage.
- An inappropriate installation position will result in non-triggering and non-detection by the PIR. If the position is too high, the object is too far, or the object is too small, the camera will not trigger. Try adjusting the installation position repeatedly according to the trigger requirements.
SD card not recognized
- Supported capacity is 16 ~ 128 GB TF card.
- Before use, ensure to format the TF card as FAT32 or exFAT file system on the computer, then insert it into the camera, and finally perform the memory card formatting operation again on the camera.
- If the TF card is not recognized during use, it is generally a quality issue with the TF card, and it is necessary to replace the memory card with one that offers more stable read and write performance.
