Impulse System
The IMPULSE system is comprised of the tool, the gas cartridge, the battery and its charger, and the set of fasteners. For safety purposes, the tool, fasteners, and gas cartridges mentioned in Paslode documents are considered a single, complete system.
Reference: European standard EN 792-13: 2000 (§ 7.2.5 a)
- Only use fasteners specified in the operating instructions with the machine.
- Only use lubricants and the main energy source specified in the operating instructions.
- For machine maintenance, use only spare parts specified by the manufacturer or their authorized agent.
- Only qualified persons may operate the Paslode Impulse nailing system. These individuals must fully understand the tool's operation, strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines, and be capable of performing regular tool servicing.
- The tool must be checked before use and loaded only just before it is to be used. If the tool is not in use, it is essential to remove the battery, the gas cartridge, and any remaining nails from the magazine, and store it in its original box.
- When using the tool, never point it at yourself or others. If the operator needs to move, the tool must be pointed downwards with the trigger finger disengaged.
- The tool must be used in a well-ventilated area. Inhaling burnt exhaust gas (carbon monoxide) is a health hazard. Keep the tool away from heat sources, as the gas cartridge could be damaged.
- Do not smoke while handling the gas cartridge. Keep the metering valve orifice away from your face and eyes. Do not inhale its contents.
- Use the tool only for the nailing applications for which it was designed by the manufacturer.
- At the moment of firing, the operator must maintain a stable position, holding the tool as close to a right angle as possible to the base material.
- The operator must ensure that no one is in the immediate vicinity of the firing area. Thoroughly check the work area and environment.
- If a firing malfunction occurs, keep the tool on the work surface and attempt to fire again. If another failure occurs, immediately remove the battery and examine the tool. In case of multiple incidents, inform the manufacturer.
- When using the tool, the operator and bystanders must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): goggles, safety helmet, and ear protection, among others. ⛑️
- Never operate the tool resting on the flat of the hand. The nailer must only be operated when it is in contact with the material to be fixed. For thin parts, ensure the tool is correctly adjusted and positioned so that the fastener is aimed towards the base material.
- The temperature of the burnt gases and the tool can increase depending on firing frequency. Observe the use rates specified on the data sheets and wear gloves to avoid contact with hot parts of the tool.
- The tool's condition must be checked at least annually by the manufacturer or their authorized agent. Regular maintenance (cleaning and greasing) is recommended to keep the tool in perfect operating condition.
- Modifications to the tool, gas cartridge, or battery are prohibited unless specified by the manufacturer.
Gas Cartridge
The gas cartridge is an aerosol product compliant with regulations 75/324/EEC and TRG 300. It contains liquefied hydrocarbon gases (butane, propane) and a lubricant for the piston. The propellant gas remains in the cartridge, which is always pressurized and must be protected from temperatures exceeding 50°C. Its contents are extremely flammable. The gas cartridge is not reusable, and refilling is prohibited.

Use
- ⚠️ Warning: Liquid gas can cause injury upon contact with skin or eyes.
- Do not expose to sunlight or temperatures exceeding 50°C.
- Recommended storage temperature: 5°C to 25°C.
- Keep and use the cartridge only in well-ventilated places.
- Do not pierce or burn the cartridge after use.
- Do not spray towards a flame or an incandescent body.
- Keep away from heat sources and electrostatic charges.
- Do not smoke.
- Keep away from children.
- Do not breathe the gases.
- Do not refill.
- Dispose of only in designated places.
- For maximum performance, use before the date indicated on the cartridge.
Transport
According to international classification, special authorization is not required to transport gas cartridges. Regulations by transport category:
- Road/rail: ADR – UN code 1950 class 2 code 5F
- Sea: IMDG – UN code 1950 + risk sheet FD S-U
- Air: IATA – UN code 1950 class 2.1
- Transport by parcel post is not permitted.
- Transport of small amounts (< 30 Kg) in a private vehicle is permitted without a transport and safety sheet.
Storage
- Observe all local instructions corresponding to fire regulations.
- Stores and showrooms must comply with building regulations.
- Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C. Do not store in passageways, entrance halls, or near doorways.
- Good ventilation is always necessary.
- The cartridge storage area must not exceed 20m².
- The quantity in sales rooms or showrooms must not exceed the daily sales volume.
- Storage with other pyrotechnic products is not permitted.
- Display units must be positioned away from exits. A class A,B,C 6 kg fire extinguisher must be provided.
- Do not use tools with an incandescent device or those that can reach high temperatures near the cartridges.
- Gas cartridges must not be displayed in shop windows.
Battery and Battery Charger
Before using the battery charging system, carefully read the instructions and precautions indicated on the AC/DC adapter, the charger, and the battery.
- The charging system is designed for use in covered locations. Do not expose it to rain or excessive humidity.
- Arrange the charging system to prevent walking on or catching the cable.
- Do not use the system with a damaged cable or plug. Replace them immediately.
- To avoid electrocution risks, disconnect the power supply adapter before cleaning terminals and contacts. Use a dry cloth. ?
- The adapter, charger, and battery are designed to operate together. Do not use the charging system for other batteries or battery-operated tools.
- Do not charge 'Impulse' batteries on chargers other than 'Impulse' chargers.
- Do not short-circuit a battery, as this can produce high current, leading to overheating and destruction of the battery.
- Do not charge a battery if its temperature is below 5°C or above 40°C.
- Do not place metal objects in contact with the battery's terminals.
- Do not pierce or open the battery's cells.
- Do not store batteries at temperatures greater than 50°C.
- Do not incinerate batteries.
- Do not use a battery charger that heats up excessively or emits fumes when connected. Disconnect the charger immediately.
- Charge only one battery at a time on a charger.
- Batteries must be recycled or taken to appropriate collection points according to local provisions. ♻️
