Note: It is recommended to close any security software before installation to prevent interference. You can re-enable it after installation.

Supported Systems: Win 7 or later, Chrome OS, Linux, Win ARM.

An installation guide video is available on the U-disk.

Step 1: Install the driver

  1. Connect the printer and computer (skip if already done).
  2. Install the driver: Copy the driver file (e.g., 'Label Printer Driver Setup.exe') from the U-disk to your PC, then open and install it. You can also download the latest driver from jadens.com/support/download/label-printer-drivers/.
  3. Click 'Get USB Port' to identify the USB port connected to the printer, then click 'Setup' to complete the printer setup.

Troubleshooting: If you see a 'Printer Disconnected!' message, ensure the printer and computer are properly connected via USB and the printer is powered on. Reinstall if necessary.

After setup, check your computer's 'Printers & scanners' settings to confirm 'Label Printer(4inch)' is installed. Print a test page to verify successful installation.

Note: If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver. Repeated installations may create duplicate printer entries; always use the latest installed version.

Step 2: Add the Bluetooth of Printer

Ensure the printer and computer are connected via USB cable. Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Bluetooth & other devices' > 'Add Bluetooth or other device'.

Find your Bluetooth printer (e.g., 'JD-168BT_XXXX') and connect using PIN '0000'.

Step 3: Match the COM port

  1. In 'Bluetooth & other devices', go to 'More Bluetooth options' > 'COM Ports'. Note the 'Outgoing' COM port number for your printer (e.g., COM4).
  2. Go to 'Printer & Scanners', find 'Label Printer(4inch)', click 'Manage', then 'Printer properties', and select the 'Ports' tab. Match the printer's COM port to the one identified for your Bluetooth connection (e.g., COM4). Click 'OK'.

Note: Ignore any 'Driver is unavailable' messages; they are normal and do not affect printing.

You can now unplug the USB cable. Open a PDF file and select 'Label Printer(4inch)' to print. You can adjust printer preferences like darkness, speed, and size before printing.

Note: If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver.

7. Installation for Mac

The JADENS printer is compatible with macOS v10.9 or later. An installation video is provided on the U-disk.

Step 1: Install the driver for Mac

  1. Connect the printer and computer.
  2. Copy the driver file ('Label Printer-MacOS.pkg') to your desktop and install it. You can also download the driver from jadens.com/support/download/label-printer-drivers/.
  3. If prompted with a security warning about the app not being from the App Store, click 'Open Anyway' (or navigate to 'System Preferences' > 'Security & Privacy' to allow it).
  4. Follow the on-screen installation steps until the 'Installation was successful' message appears.
  5. Open 'System Preferences' and click 'Printers & Scanners'.
  6. Click the '+' button to add a new printer.
  7. Select 'Thermal Label Printer' and choose 'Select Software' from the dropdown menu.
  8. Select 'Label Printer' and click 'OK'.
  9. Click 'Add' to complete the printer installation on your Mac.

8. Printer preference setting

8.1. Printer preference setting for Windows

Navigate to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Printers & scanners'. Select 'Label Printer(4inch)', click 'Manage', then 'Printer Preference'. Here you can adjust print page size, print speed, and density.

(1) Setting the paper quality

Go to 'Page Setup'. Choose the page size corresponding to your label size. Common shipping labels are 4"x6".

(2) Setting the print density and speed

In the 'Page Quality' tab, you can adjust printing speed and darkness. For density, if labels appear light, increase the value. Recommended settings:

  • Windows: Density 8-12
  • Mac: Density 2-5

(3) Print a sample file

Open a PDF file (e.g., 4"x6" size) in Adobe Reader. Click 'Print', ensuring 'Label Printer(4inch)' is selected. For best quality with Word files, convert them to PDF first.

In the print dialog, you can access 'Properties' to set page size, printing speed, and density.

Note: Ensure the label size loaded in the printer matches the size settings in the print dialog.

Preview and adjust settings like print size and density. Click 'Print'. If you need a PDF editor, search for 'Bartender' on support.jadens.com.

8.2. Printer preference setting for MAC

Open a sample PDF file (e.g., 4"x6" size) and click 'Print'.

Click 'Page Setup' to select the desired page size.

Note: Ensure the page size matches the loaded label size to prevent misaligned or cut-off prints.

If no suitable size is listed, click 'Manage Custom Sizes', input the width and height, then click 'OK'.

Click 'Printer Preference' > 'Printer Features' to set 'Darkness' and 'Print Speed'.

After setup, click 'Print'.

Tips: Higher darkness values result in darker prints. If labels are too light, adjust the darkness setting.

9. Smartphone APP Setup

Go to support.jadens.com to find and download the smartphone app and user manual for Android and iOS by searching for 'latest app'.

Note: Ensure the page size matches the loaded label size to prevent misaligned prints.

(2) For MAC:

  1. Find the 'File' menu in the top-left corner of your desktop. Click 'Open', then 'Desktop', and choose your PDF file (or open it with Adobe Reader).
  2. From the top panel, select 'View' > 'Rotate View' > 'Clockwise' so labels appear side-by-side. Skip if labels are already oriented correctly.
  3. Select 'Edit' > 'Take a Snapshot'. Click and drag over the specific area of the label you need to print.
