6. Installation for Windows

Note: Recommend closing security software before installation to prevent conflicts. You can re-enable it after installation.

This printer supports Windows 7 or later. It is also compatible with Chrome OS, Linux, and Win ARM.

An installation guide video is available on the provided U-disk.

Step 1: Install the driver

  1. Connect the printer to power and your computer. (Skip if already done.)
  2. Install the driver for Windows: Copy the driver file (e.g., "Label Printer Driver Setup.exe") from the U-disk to your PC desktop and run the installer.

You can also download the latest driver from: https://www.jadens.com/support/download/label-printer-drivers/

[Screenshot showing driver installation wizard: Select Destination Location. User clicks 'Next'.]

[Screenshot showing driver installation wizard: Ready to Install. User clicks 'Install'.]

Tips: If you encounter a 'Printer Disconnected' message, ensure the USB cable is properly connected and the printer is powered on. Then, try installing again.

After setup:

Check your computer's settings to confirm the printer is installed. Navigate to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. You should find 'Label Printer(4inch)'. Click 'Manage' to print a test page and verify successful setup.

Note: If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver. Repeat installations may create duplicate printer entries; always use the latest installed version.

Step 2: Add the Bluetooth of Printer

(Keep the printer and computer connected with USB cable). Click 'Setting' > 'Devices' > 'Bluetooth & other devices' > 'Add Bluetooth or other device'.

[Screenshot showing Windows Settings menu, highlighting 'Devices' and 'Bluetooth & other devices'.]

[Screenshot showing 'Add a device' window, selecting the printer and entering PIN.]

Step 3: Match the COM port

Click 'Bluetooth & other device' > 'More Bluetooth options' > 'COM Ports'. Check the OUTGOING port for your 'JD-168BT_XXXX' device and note the COM number (e.g., COM4).

[Screenshot showing Bluetooth Settings with COM Ports tab, highlighting an outgoing COM port.]

Change the printer's port to match this Bluetooth COM port. Navigate to 'Printer & Scanners' > Find 'Label Printer(4inch)' > 'Manage' > 'Printer properties' > 'Ports'. Select the COM port that matches your Bluetooth connection (e.g., COM4) and click 'OK'.

Note: You may see a 'Driver is unavailable' message, which is normal and does not affect printing.

Now you can unplug the USB cable. Open a PDF file (Adobe Reader recommended), select 'Label Printer(4inch)' as the printer, adjust preferences (darkness, speed, size), and click 'Print' (via Bluetooth).

Note: If printing is unsuccessful, restart your computer and printer, then install the driver again.

10. Important Tips: Print Label of Multiple Size using 'Take a snap shot'

The 'Take a snap shot' function can resolve most printing problems by allowing you to print only the desired area.

1. How to print your labels with nonstandard size:

If your PDF/file is an unusual size (e.g., A4) and you cannot find a matching label size, use the 'take a snapshot' function.

(1) For Windows:

  1. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader.
  2. From the top panel, select 'Edit' > 'Take a Snapshot'. Choose the area you want to print.

[Screenshot of Adobe Reader showing the Edit menu with 'Take a Snapshot' highlighted.]

c. Click 'Print', set up the page size to match the labels you load, then print.

Note: Please ensure the page size matches the loaded label size. Otherwise, it may print over the label or be misaligned.

[Screenshot of Label Printer Printing Preferences showing stock/size options.]

(2) For MAC:

  1. Find 'File' in the top left corner of your desktop > Click 'Open' > Click Desktop > Choose PDF file (or open with Adobe).

[Screenshot of macOS Finder showing file selection.]

b. From the top panel, select View > Rotate View > Clockwise so that the labels are side by side. (If the labels are laid vertically, skip this step.)

[Screenshot of PDF viewer showing View menu with Rotate View options.]

c. Next, from the top panel, select Edit > Take a Snapshot. Then click and drag over one of the labels that you need, so that you can print a specific range of label.

[Screenshot of PDF viewer showing Edit menu with 'Take a Snapshot' highlighted.]

(3) For Smartphone:

You can resize the label in the 'Shipping Printer' App.

2. If you want to print a label with a barcode, please ensure the barcode is printed vertically to prevent high temperatures from blocking or making it unscannable.
