6. Installation for Windows

It is recommended to temporarily disable security software before installation to prevent interference. You can re-enable it after installation.

This guide covers Windows 7 or later, Chromebook, Linux, and Windows ARM systems.

Installation guide video is available on the U-disk.

6.1. USB Connection Installation

  1. Connect power and computer (if not already done).
  2. Install the driver: Copy the driver file (e.g., 'Label Printer Driver Setup.exe') from the U-disk to your PC desktop. Open and run the installer. Alternatively, download the latest driver from jadens.com/support/download/label-printer-drivers/.
  3. During installation, click '[Get USB Port]' to detect the printer's USB connection, then click '[Setup]'. The printer should be successfully set up.
  4. If you see a '[Printer Disconnected]' message, ensure the printer is connected via USB and powered on, then try installing again.

  5. Verify Installation: Go to [Settings] > [Device] > [Printer & Scanners]. You should find 'Label Printer(4inch)'. Click [Manage] and print a test page to confirm successful setup.

If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver. Repeated installations may create duplicate printer entries (e.g., 'Label Printer(4inch)(1,2)'); use the latest installed version.

6.2. Bluetooth Connection Installation

  1. Ensure the printer and computer are connected via USB.
  2. Go to [Settings] > [Devices] > [Bluetooth & other devices] > [Add Bluetooth or other device].
  3. Select 'Bluetooth'.
  4. Pair the printer: On the printer, press and hold the [Feed Button] until the LED flashes blue, indicating it's in pairing mode. Select 'JD-268BT' from the list of devices on your computer to pair.
  5. Configure COM Port: Click '[Bluetooth & other devices]' > '[More Bluetooth options]' > '[COM Ports]'. Note the COM number for the 'JD-268BT_XXXX' outgoing port (e.g., COM3).
  6. Change Printer Port: Go to [Settings] > [Printer & Scanners] > find 'Label Printer(4inch)' > [Manage] > [Printer properties] > [Ports]. Select the COM port that matches your Bluetooth connection (e.g., COM3) and click [OK].

If you cannot find the matching COM port, restart your computer and printer, then repeat the driver installation and pairing process.

You can now unplug the USB cable. Open a PDF file (Adobe Reader recommended), select 'Label Printer(4inch)', adjust printer preferences (darkness, speed, size), and click '[Print]' via Bluetooth.

If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver.

10. Important Tips: Print label of multiple size using "Take a snap shot"

The 'Take a Snapshot' function helps print specific areas, useful for non-standard label sizes or printing portions of documents.

10.1. Printing Labels with Non-Standard Sizes (Windows)

  1. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader.
  2. From the top panel, select [Edit] > [Take a Snapshot].
  3. Click and drag to select the desired print area.
  4. Click '[Print]', then set the page size to match your loaded labels. Click '[Print]'.

Ensure the page size matches the loaded label size to prevent misalignment or printing outside the label area.

10.2. Printing Labels with Non-Standard Sizes (MAC)

  1. Open the PDF file via [File] > [Open] (or open with Adobe Reader).
  2. If labels are laid out horizontally, select [View] > [Rotate View] > [Clockwise] so labels appear side-by-side. Skip if already vertical.
  3. From the top panel, select [Edit] > [Take a Snapshot].
  4. Click and drag to select the specific label area you need to print.
  5. Click '[Print]' and ensure page size settings match your loaded labels.

10.3. Barcode Printing Tip

When printing labels containing barcodes, ensure the barcode is printed vertically. High temperatures can cause blockages if printed horizontally, making them unscannable.
