6. Installation for Windows
Note:
It is recommended to close security software before installation to prevent interference. You can re-enable it after installation.
This printer supports Windows 7 or later.
An installation guide video is available on the U-disk.
Step 1: Install the driver
a. Connect the printer and computer to power. (Skip this step if already done).
b. Install the driver and printer for Windows:
- Copy the driver file (e.g., 'Label Printer Driver Setup.exe') from the U-disk to your PC desktop.
- Open the file and follow the installation prompts.
Alternatively, you can download the driver for Windows (JD-268BT) from JADENS support website. Driver versions may be updated; check the website for the latest information.
Screenshots show the driver installation wizard, including selecting the destination location and the 'Ready to Install' screen.
After launching the setup, click 'Get USB Port' to detect the USB port connected to the printer, then click 'Setup'. The printer should be successfully set up.
Tips:
If you receive a 'Printer Disconnected!' message, it means your computer and printer are not properly connected. Please connect them via USB or ensure the printer is powered on, then try installing again.
c. After setup, check your computer to confirm the printer is installed. Go to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Printers & scanners'. You should find 'Label Printer(4inch)'. Click 'Manage' to print a test page and labels to confirm successful setup.
Note:
If printing fails, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver. Repeated installations may create duplicate printer entries (e.g., 'Printer(4inch)(1,2...)'); always use the latest installed version.
Step 2: Add the Bluetooth of Printer
a. With the printer and computer connected via USB cable, click 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Bluetooth & other devices' > 'Add Bluetooth or other device'.
Screenshots show the process of adding a Bluetooth device, including selecting the JD-268BT device.
Step 3: Match the COM port
a. Click 'Bluetooth & other device' > 'More Bluetooth options' > 'COM Ports'. Check the OUTGOING port associated with your Bluetooth device (e.g., 'JD-268BT_XXXX'). Note down the COM number (e.g., COM3).
b. Change the printer's port to match the identified Bluetooth COM port. Click 'Printer & Scanners' > Find 'Label Printer(4inch)' > 'Manage' > 'Printer properties' > 'Ports'. Select the COM port that matches your Bluetooth port (e.g., COM3) and click 'OK'.
Note:
Please ignore the message 'Driver is unavailable' if it appears; this is normal and does not affect printing.
If you cannot find the correct COM port match, restart your computer and printer, then reinstall the driver.
c. You can now unplug the USB cable. To print, open a PDF file (Adobe Reader recommended), select the printer named 'Label Printer(4inch)', and adjust printer preferences (darkness, speed, size) before clicking 'Print' (via Bluetooth).
Note:
If printing is unsuccessful, restart your computer and printer, then install the driver again.
7. Installation for Mac
JADENS printers are compatible with MAC OS V 10.9 or later.
An installation guide video is available on the U-disk.
Step 1: Install the driver for Mac
a. Connect the printer and computer to power.
b. Copy the driver file ('Label Printer-MacOS.pkg') to your desktop and install it. Alternatively, download 'Driver for Mac (JD-268BT)' from JADENS support website. Driver versions may be updated; check the website for the latest information.
During installation, you may encounter a macOS security warning stating that the file cannot be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store. Your security preferences may only allow installation of apps from the App Store.
c. To proceed, open 'System Preferences' and click on 'Security & Privacy'. (If you do not see the warning, you can skip this step).
d. Click on the 'Open AnyWay' button. (If you do not see the warning, you can skip this step).

i. Choose 'Label Printer' and click 'OK'.
j. Click 'Add'. The printer is now installed successfully on your Mac.
Note:
You can now print directly. For adjusting printing density, speed, or other parameters, refer to 'Part 8 Printer preference setting'.
If printing is unsuccessful, please restart your computer and install the driver again.
8. Printer Preference Setting
8.1. Printer Preference Setting for Windows
Go to 'Settings' > 'Device' > 'Printer & scanners'. Find the printer 'Label Printer', click 'Manage', then click 'Printer Preference'. Here you can set the print page size, print speed, and label density.
(1) Setting the paper quality
a. Go to 'Page Setup'. Select the page size corresponding to your label size. Most shipping labels are 4"x6".
b. In the 'Page Quality' section, you can change the printing speed and printing darkness. If labels print too light or unclear, adjust the density. For Windows, set density between 8-12. For Mac, set density between 2-5.
(2) Print a sample file
a. Open a PDF file (4"x6" size recommended) in Adobe Reader and click 'print'. Ensure you select the correct printer ('Label Printer'). If printing from a Word file, convert it to PDF first for best quality.
b. In the print dialog, you can go to 'properties' to set page size, printing speed, and printing density.
Note:
Before printing, ensure the size of the thermal labels loaded matches the size settings on your device.
c. Preview your settings (print size, print density) and then click 'print'. If you do not have PDF Editor software, search for 'Bartender' on the Jadens support website or contact Jadens support directly.
Customer support is available via email (support@jadens.com) or phone (1-800-752-7660).

This section guides you on setting print preferences for optimal printing.

10. Important Tips: Print Label of Multiple Size using 'Take a snap shot'
The 'Take a snap shot' function can resolve most printing problems by allowing you to print a specific area of a document. Here's how to use it.
1. How to print your labels with nonstandard size.
If the printed PDF/file is an unusual size (e.g., A4) and you cannot find labels of that exact size, use the 'take a snapshot' function to print.
(1). For Windows:
a. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader.
b. From the top panel, select 'Edit' > 'Take a Snapshot'. Click and drag over the area you want to print.
c. Click 'Print', set up the page size to match the labels you loaded, and then print.
Note:
Please ensure the page size matches the loaded label size. Otherwise, printing may be misaligned or go over the label boundaries.
(2) For MAC:
a. Find 'File' in the top-left corner of your desktop, click 'Open', navigate to Desktop, and choose your PDF file (or open it directly with Adobe).
b. From the top panel, select 'View' > 'Rotate View' > 'Clockwise' so that the labels are side by side. (Skip this step if the labels are already oriented correctly).
c. Next, from the top panel, select 'Edit' > 'Take a Snapshot'. Click and drag over one of the labels you need to print a specific range.
2. If you want to print a label that includes a barcode, ensure the barcode prints vertically. This helps prevent the barcode from becoming blocked or unscannable due to high temperatures.
