IKEA Assembly and Installation Services: General Terms and Conditions
Introduction and Scope
IKEA Česká republika, s. r. o. (IKEA) offers assembly and installation services for furniture and household accessories. These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) for assembly and installation services are effective from January 8, 2025, and govern the provision of these services. IKEA reserves the right to amend these GTC; amendments do not apply to orders placed before their effective date. The GTC form an integral part of the contract for assembly services.
Customer Responsibilities and Declarations
Customers acknowledge IKEA as the exclusive distributor of its products in the Czech Republic. Products purchased are for personal use only and not for resale or rental.
For Assembly:
- Provide goods in good, complete condition, clearly stored at the installation site.
- Ensure appropriate storage conditions (constant room temperature and humidity).
- Provide access to a 220V power supply, running water, and a toilet for the installation team.
- Ensure a minimum installation temperature of 18°C.
- Cooperate fully with the installation team and provide necessary assistance.
- Provide a container for waste or sorted waste.
- Ensure the installation site is accessible and free from other construction work that might interfere.
- Be present during installation or designate a Responsible Person (over 18, authorized, familiar with plans).
- For wall-mounting, verify wall capacity and utility line routes before work begins.
- Inform IKEA of any facts relevant to installation.
- Installation of curtain rods/rails is limited to a height of 2.6m from the floor.
- Ensure precise measurements are taken and provided before ordering assembly.
- Do not make layout changes after measurements are taken that could affect assembly.
- Provide parking for the installation team.
Liability and Fees:
- IKEA is not liable for installation issues arising from customer premises (e.g., uneven walls, unsuitable wall material).
- IKEA is not liable for defects caused by faulty or incomplete goods if the customer was notified and insisted on proceeding with assembly.
- Downtime caused by the customer incurs a fee of CZK 500 per hour per worker.
- IKEA may claim compensation for damages if assembly cannot be performed due to customer circumstances.
- Incremental costs due to customer-initiated changes or circumstances will be charged if properly notified.
Pricing and Payment
Prices for assembly and installation are detailed in the current IKEA price list. Basic prices may exclude special materials (e.g., gas hoses, seals, valves, special anchors) which are charged separately. For kitchen/bathroom furniture, payment is made directly in IKEA stores (Ostrava, Brno) or a CZK 5,000 refundable deposit is paid in Prague stores, with the balance paid on-site to the assembly company. If the total price is less than CZK 5,000, no deposit is required. For other furniture, payment is made in-store or via a provided payment link. Prices are final and include VAT, unless otherwise stated for specific tax regulations.
Warranty and Claims
A 24-month warranty is provided for the quality of assembly work from the date of completion. Claims should follow IKEA's standard procedure. However, customers cannot request replacement assembly if the item cannot be returned or handed over to IKEA.
Cancellation and Penalties
Cancelling a signed order less than 72 hours before the service start time, or failing to meet service conditions (e.g., customer absence, site not ready), may result in a penalty. The penalty is CZK 1,000 for assembly of other furniture, or CZK 5,000 for kitchen/bathroom furniture assembly. This penalty will be offset against the service price or deposit paid.
Information and Data Protection
IKEA provides customer support via phone (+420 296 181 650), IKEA.cz/contact, or in stores. Personal data provided in orders is processed for contract fulfillment, warranty claims, and legal compliance, adhering to data protection regulations. Customers have rights regarding their personal data, including access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection. Complaints can be directed to the Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz). IKEA may use contact data for customer satisfaction surveys and product/service offers, with an option to opt-out.
