Huawei WiFi Cube 4G User Guide
Welcome to the Huawei WiFi Cube 4G
The WiFi Cube provides Internet access for compatible devices via Wi-Fi and expands your LAN coverage with a hub or a switch.
This guide helps you understand your device to start using it right away. Please read it carefully before first use. For more detailed information, refer to the Help section of the device web UI.
Getting to know your Huawei WiFi Cube 4G
Note:
- During thunderstorms and rainy weather, turn off and disconnect the device.
- The WiFi Cube function descriptions and illustrations in this document are for reference only; your purchased device may vary.
- When the WiFi Cube is in use, you can alter its position or orientation to improve signal strength.
Getting Started
Device Overview
1 External antenna port: Open the cover and connect an external antenna (not included).
2 Power button: Press and hold to turn the device on/off. Press to turn the indicator light on/off.
3 Indicator Light: Shows when the WiFi Cube is turning on and connected to the Vodafone mobile network. Can be turned off by pressing the power button.
4 Signal indicator:
- Steady blue: strong signal strength
- Steady yellow: weak signal strength
- Steady red: no signal
5 Wi-Fi indicator:
- On: Wi-Fi is enabled
- Off: Wi-Fi is disabled
Note: For details on manually enabling/disabling Wi-Fi, refer to Wireless LAN (WLAN) settings in the device web UI Help section.
6 Network port indicator:
- Steady green and yellow off: Connected to a Wi-Fi enabled device, no data transmission.
- Steady green and blinking yellow: Data is being transmitted.
- Both green and yellow off: Not connected to a Wi-Fi enabled device.
7 LAN port (RJ45): Connect via the included LAN cable to a computer, switch, or other network device.
8 Power port: Connect the WiFi Cube's power adapter.
9 Reset button: Press and hold to restore the device to its original factory settings. Note: Restoring factory settings will override all changes made since first use.
10 SIM card slot: Insert your micro SIM card here to connect to the Vodafone mobile network.
Installing the micro SIM card
Please follow the diagram for installing your micro SIM card.

Note:
- When removing your micro SIM card, gently press it in, then release it; the card will pop out automatically.
- Do not remove the SIM card while the WiFi Cube is turning on, as this may affect performance and lead to data loss.
Using an external antenna (not included)
In areas with poor reception, connect an external antenna to the WiFi Cube's external antenna port to improve signal strength.

Note:
- Before connecting the external antenna, ensure the WiFi Cube is turned off and disconnected from the power outlet.
- Make sure the antenna is approved for use with the WiFi Cube.
- Only use the external antenna indoors and do not use it during a thunderstorm.
- To optimize performance, place the external antenna at least 1 meter away from the WiFi Cube. If using two antennas, ensure they are more than 1 meter apart.
Connecting the power adapter
Please follow the diagram for connecting the power adapter.

Warning: The device may not work when mains power fails.
Note: Use the provided power adapter. Using another adapter may cause malfunction, failure, or fire, and will void all warranties.
Logging in to the web UI
The web UI utility is accessed via a browser for advanced device configuration and function management.
Steps to log in:
- Ensure the WiFi Cube is connected to your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
- Open a browser and enter
http://192.168.8.1
in the address box.
Note:
- The WiFi Cube's default IP address is 192.168.8.1 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
- It is recommended to use automatically obtained IP addresses and DNS server to ensure successful login.
- Enter the username and password to log in.
Note: The default username and password are printed on the WiFi Cube label, found under the device.

Safety Information
This section contains important information about the operation and safe use of your device. Read carefully before use.
Electronic device
Do not use the device if prohibited or if it causes danger or interference with other electronic devices.
Interference with medical equipment
- Follow rules and regulations set forth by hospitals and health care facilities. Do not use your device where prohibited.
- Some wireless devices may affect hearing aids or pacemakers. Consult your service provider.
- Pacemaker manufacturers recommend a minimum distance of 15 cm between the device and a pacemaker to prevent interference. If using a pacemaker, hold the device on the opposite side and do not carry it in your front pocket.
Areas with flammables and explosives
- Do not use the device where flammables or explosives are stored (e.g., gas station, oil depot, chemical plant) as it increases the risk of explosion or fire. Follow indicated instructions.
- Do not store or transport the device in containers with flammable liquids, gases, or explosives.
Traffic security
- Observe local laws and regulations. To reduce accident risk, do not use your wireless device while driving.
- Concentrate on driving; your first responsibility is to drive safely.
- RF signals may affect motor vehicle electronic systems; consult the vehicle manufacturer.
- Do not place the device over or in the air bag deployment area in a motor vehicle, as the inflating air bag can cause injury.
- Do not use your device while flying in an aircraft or immediately before boarding, as it may disrupt wireless networks or present a hazard.
Operating environment
- Avoid dusty, damp, dirty, or magnetic field environments, as they may cause circuit malfunctions.
- Before connecting/disconnecting cables, stop using the device and disconnect it from the power supply. Ensure hands are dry.
- Place the device on a stable surface.
- Keep the device away from electronic appliances generating strong magnetic or electric fields (e.g., microwave oven, refrigerator).
- During thunderstorms, power off your device and remove all cables to protect against lightning strikes.
- Do not use your device during thunderstorms to protect against lightning danger.
- Ideal operating temperatures: 0°C to +40°C. Ideal storage temperatures: -20°C to +70°C. Extreme heat or cold may damage the device or accessories.
- Keep the device and accessories in a well-ventilated, cool area away from direct sunlight. Do not enclose or cover with towels or other objects. Do not place in containers with poor heat dissipation.
- To protect from fire or electrical shock hazards, avoid rain and moisture.
- Keep the device away from heat sources like heaters, microwaves, stoves, radiators, or candles.
- Do not place objects (e.g., candles, water containers) on the device. If foreign objects or liquids enter, stop use, power off, disconnect cables, and contact an authorized service center.
- Observe local laws and regulations, and respect privacy and legal rights.
- Do not block device openings. Reserve a minimum of 10 cm around the device for heat dissipation.
Child safety
- Comply with child safety precautions. Letting children play with the device or accessories can be dangerous. The device may have detachable parts that present a choking hazard; keep away from children.
- The device and accessories are not intended for use by children. Children should only use the device with adult supervision.
Accessories
- Using unapproved or incompatible power adapters, chargers, or batteries may cause fire, explosion, or other hazards.
- Choose only accessories approved by the manufacturer for this model. Using other accessories may void the warranty, violate regulations, and be dangerous.
Power Adapter Safety and Maintenance
Power adapter safety
- The power plug serves as a disconnect device.
- For pluggable devices, the socket-outlet should be installed near the devices and be easily accessible.
- Unplug the power adapter from electrical outlets and the device when not in use.
- Do not drop or impact the power adapter. If damaged, take it to an authorized service center.
- If the power cable is damaged (exposed cord, broken, loose plug), stop use immediately to avoid electric shocks, short circuits, or fire.
- Do not touch the power cord or adapter with wet hands.
- If your power adapter has been exposed to water, other liquids, or excessive moisture, take it to an authorized service center for inspection.
- Ensure the power adapter meets requirements of Clause 2.5 in IEC60950-1/EN60950-1 and is approved by national/local standards.
Cleaning and maintenance
- During storage, transportation, and operation, keep the device dry and protect it from collision.
- Do not attempt to dry the device or accessories with an external heat source (e.g., microwave oven, hair dryer).
- Do not expose your device or accessories to extreme heat or cold, as these environments may interfere with function and lead to fire or explosion.
- Avoid collision, which may lead to device malfunctions, overheating, fire, or explosion.
- If the device is not going to be used for an extended period, power it off and remove all cables.
- If anything unusual occurs (e.g., smoke, unusual sound or smell), immediately stop using it, power it off, remove all cables, and contact an authorized service center.
- Do not trample, pull, or excessively bend any cable, as this may damage it and cause device malfunction.
- Before cleaning or maintenance, stop using the device, close all applications, and disconnect all cables.
- Do not use chemical detergents, powders, or agents (like alcohol, benzene) for cleaning; these can cause damage or fire hazards. Use a clean, soft, dry cloth.
- Do not place magnetic stripe cards (credit cards, phone cards) near the device for extended periods, as they may be damaged.
- Do not dismantle or remanufacture the device or accessories; this voids the warranty and releases the manufacturer from liability. Contact an authorized service center for damage assistance or repair.
Disposal and Compliance
Disposal and recycling information
The symbol [recycling symbol] on the device, batteries, or packaging indicates that these items should not be disposed of as household garbage. They must be taken to a certified collection point for recycling or proper disposal.
For more detailed information about device or battery recycling, contact your local city office, household waste disposal service, or retail store.
Disposal of the device and batteries is subject to WEEE Directive Recast (Directive 2012/19/EU) and Battery Directive (Directive 2006/66/EC). This separation minimizes potential environmental impacts and health risks from hazardous substances.
Reduction of hazardous substances
This device is compliant with REACH Regulation [Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006] and RoHS Directive Recast (Directive 2011/65/EU). Batteries are compliant with the Battery Directive (Directive 2006/66/EC).
