PRE-INSTALLATION NOTICE

INSTALLATION GUIDE

Step 1: Removing the Jounce Bumper and Placing the Assembly

Raise the vehicle and support it using safety stands so that the axle can be safely dropped away from the frame, and the air spring assemblies can be put into position between the axle and frame.

Unbolt and remove the jounce bumper from the frame.

If necessary, remove the harness retainer from the frame rail to make more room for the upper bracket.

Diagram Description: Illustrates raising and supporting the vehicle, then unbolting the jounce bumper. A separate image shows a hand removing a harness retainer from the frame rail.

Step 4: Fifth Wheel Hitch Consideration

If the truck has a fifth wheel hitch installed instead of the standard factory Reese hitch, remove the bolt on this side bracket plate. Pull the harness down to reveal the mounting holes.

Diagram Description: Shows a close-up of the truck frame with a fifth wheel hitch bracket, illustrating the removal of a bolt and pulling down a harness.

Step 5: Installing the Driver Side Upper Bracket

Attach the upper bracket (1) to the frame with a bolt, washers, and nut.

Diagram Description: Shows the driver's side frame with the upper bracket (1) being attached using hardware (39, 37, 23, 28, 30). A close-up view shows the attachment points with hardware (32, 37, 23, 30).

Step 6: Installing the L-bracket

Install the L-bracket (10) to the upper side of the driver side bracket and lock it.

Note: One side of the L bracket needs to be in place of the harness clip.

Diagram Description: Shows the driver's side assembly with the L-bracket (10) being attached to the upper bracket, secured by hardware (33, 35, 26).

Step 6 (continued): Installing the Passenger Side Upper Bracket

Attach the upper bracket (2) to the frame with a bolt, washers, and nut.

Note: The driver side and the passenger side are assembled differently. Please refer to the picture above.

Diagram Description: Shows the passenger's side frame with the upper bracket (2) being attached using hardware (39, 30, 40 or 44, 23).

Step 7: Placing the Assembly on the Axle

Place the assembly on the axle.

Diagram Description: Shows the assembled air spring unit positioned on the vehicle's axle.

Installing the Upper Bracket

Step 1: Spacer Installation

Install the spacer (9) between the frame and the upper bracket. At the same time, the spacer is passed through the bolt and inserted into the jounce bumper hole. The driver side and the passenger side are the same way.

Step 2: Attaching Upper Bracket

Push the axle up so that the upper bracket (3 or 4) can be bolted to the previous bracket (1 or 2). Then tighten the bolts with nuts and washers.

Diagram Description: Shows the spacer (9) being installed. Another diagram shows the axle being pushed up and the upper bracket (3 or 4) being bolted to the frame (1 or 2) using hardware (20, 29, 38, 22).

Installing the Lower Bracket

Step 1: Alignment

Adjust the assembly so that the air spring is perpendicular to the bottom and top mounting brackets without twisting. Make sure the lower bracket is seated on the jounce bumper strike plate.

Step 2: Lower Bracket Attachment

Install the lower bracket with U-bolt (13) to the leaf spring. Then tighten the bolts with nuts and washers.

Diagram Description: Shows the air spring assembly positioned correctly. Another diagram shows the lower bracket being attached to the leaf spring using U-bolts (13) and hardware (5, 38, 29).

Installing the Fastening Block

Step 3: Fastening Block Installation

Install the fastening block (7) to the axle, then tighten the bolts with nuts and washers.

Note: Do not pinch the brake line between the carriage bolt and the axle.

Diagram Description: Shows the fastening block (7) being attached to the axle with hardware (14, 7, 38, 29).

Step 4: Checking Lower Mounting Cups

Finally, make sure the nuts on the lower mounting cups are tight.

Diagram Description: Shows a close-up of the lower mounting cup area with hardware (21, 32, 37) being checked for tightness.

Step 5: Securing Harness and Lines

You may be able to tie the wire harness and ABS line with zip tie, so it doesn't rub against anything.

Diagram Description: Shows zip ties being used to secure the wire harness and ABS line.

Installing the Heat Shield (Passenger's Side Only)

Step 1: Heat Shield Placement

Install the heat shield where it is closest to the passenger's (right) side air spring.

Note: Must slide the air line protective sleeve over the air line near the exhaust port.

Diagram Description: Shows the heat shield being positioned near the passenger side air spring, with an arrow indicating the air line sleeve.

Installing the Air Lines

Step 1: Air Line Connection

Cut the air line appropriately and push the hose into the fitting, then pull back and make sure it's locked in place.

Diagram Description: Shows the air line being connected to a fitting.

Installing the Inflatable Valve

Step 2: Valve Location

Install the inflatable valve in a selected location, usually on the license plate at the rear of the vehicle.

Diagram Description: Shows the rear of a pickup truck with an arrow pointing to the license plate area where the valve is installed. A close-up shows the valve connection with numbered parts (19, 42, 37, 39).

Check Air Tightness

Step 1: Leak Check

Put some air into the air spring bag, then spray a soapy solution on all connections and valves while checking for exiting air bubbles.

Diagram Description: Shows someone spraying a soapy solution on an air spring connection.
