Installation Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle
Raise the vehicle and support it using safety stands so that the axle can be safely dropped away from the frame. The air spring assemblies can then be put into position between the leaf spring and frame. Remove the rear wheels.
Loosen and remove the jounce bumper from the frame.
Remove the brake line bracket on the left side only. Keep the bolt for later installation.
Step 2: Assemble the Air Spring Unit
Assemble the air spring bag with the upper and lower mounting brackets. The upper bracket (1) attaches to the frame, and the lower bracket (2) attaches to the axle. The heat shield is installed on the passenger side only.
Sub-step: Attach Lower Bracket
Install the lower mounting bracket (2) to the axle using the U-bolt (14). Tighten nuts.
Install the fastening bracket (3) to the axle with the carriage bolt (8). Tighten the flange nut (13). A 16 carriage bolt may be needed on the left side.
Sub-step: Attach Upper Bracket
Attach the upper mounting bracket (1) to the frame with bolts, washers (15), and nuts (13). Finally, tighten all bolts.
Step 3: Mount the Assembly on the Axle
Place the assembled air spring unit onto the axle.
Diagram Description: Diagram depicting the placement of the air spring assembly onto the truck's rear axle. The vehicle frame, leaf spring, and axle are shown. The air spring unit is positioned between the frame and the axle.
Step 4: Install Air Lines
Cut the air line appropriately and push the hose into the fitting, then pull back to ensure it is locked in place. Slide the air line protective sleeve over the air line near the exhaust port.
Diagram Description: Diagram showing the air spring bag with a fitting attached. An air line is connected to the fitting, and a protective sleeve is shown covering a portion of the air line.
Step 5: Install Inflation Valves
Install the inflatable valve bracket (5) with a nylon tie in a selected location, usually at the rear of the vehicle. Then install the inflation valves (18) on the bracket. Alternatively, drill a 5/16" hole directly to mount the inflation valve.
Diagram Description: Diagram of the rear of a truck showing the installed air spring system. It indicates the location for mounting the inflation valve bracket (labeled '5') and the inflation valve (labeled '18') on the vehicle's frame or bumper area.
Final Checks
Check Air Tightness
Put some air into the air spring bag, then spray a soapy solution on all connections and valves while checking for exiting air bubbles.
