Assembly
Congratulations on your purchase! This guide assists with unboxing and familiarizing yourself with your new bike. For detailed assistance, visit www.heybike.com for assembly videos and step-by-step guides.
If you are not comfortable assembling the bike yourself, we recommend taking it to a bike shop for assembly and inspection. If you choose to assemble it yourself, follow all instructions, adjust gears and brakes properly, and set tire pressure.
Front Wheel Installation:
- Locate the quick-release lever. Open the lever and remove the thumb nut and cone spring (opposite the lever). Keep the washer and other cone spring in place on the lever side.
- Line up the fork with the axle at the center of the wheel. Ensure there's a spacer between the fork and wheel on each side. The disc brake is on the left.
- Hold the nut on one side and tighten the nut on the other side of the wheel onto the fork.
- Ensure the front wheel and quick-release lever are properly secured before proceeding.
Diagrams illustrating the front wheel installation process.
Handlebar Installation:
- Attach the handlebar to the stem correctly.
- Place the cover onto the handlebar and tighten the four Allen screws.
- Use the wrench to tighten the screw and fix the handlebar stem in place. Ensure the handlebar stem is aligned with the top tube.
- Find and connect the display cable.
Diagrams illustrating the handlebar installation process.
Rear Rack Installation:
- Take off the four screws from the bike frame.
- Hold the rack onto the bike frame and tighten the rack with the screws.
Diagrams illustrating the rear rack installation process.
Fender and Headlight Installation:
- Take out the front fender, remove the nut, washers, and bolt at the top and bottom of the front fork.
- Hold the front fender and the headlight onto the bike frame and tighten them with the screws.
- Tighten the screws on each side of the front wheel.
- Connect the headlight cable, ensuring it aligns with the arrow direction.
Diagrams illustrating fender and headlight installation.
Seat Adjustment:
For optimal pedaling, safety, and comfort, position the seat correctly based on leg length. When pedaling, hips should be level, and legs nearly fully extended with a slight bend at the knee. Sit on the e-bike with one pedal at its lowest point and place the ball of your foot on the pedal; your leg should be almost fully extended.
- Open the quick-release lever by swinging it outward.
- Slide the seatpost in or out of the seat tube to adjust height. Ensure the seatpost is not raised beyond the minimum insertion marking etched into the seatpost tube.
- Adjust the seat so its head is parallel with the top tube.
- Close the quick-release lever securely.
Diagrams showing seat post adjustment and quick-release lever operation.
Pedal Installation:
Note: If the pedal/chain runs smoothly or seems misaligned, contact Heybike Support.
- Locate the right-side ("R") and left-side ("L") pedals.
- Thread the right pedal onto the right crank clockwise by hand, then tighten with an Allen wrench.
- Thread the left pedal onto the left crank counter-clockwise by hand, then tighten with an Allen wrench.
- Check chain alignment: Rotate the right pedal backward. Ensure the chain runs smoothly through the drivetrain (rear cog, chain tensioner, front chainring).
Diagrams showing pedal installation and chain alignment check.
Seatpost Safety:
NOTICE: Ensure the seatpost and seat are properly adjusted before riding. DO NOT raise the seatpost beyond the minimum insertion marking. Doing so may cause the seatpost or frame to break, leading to loss of control and falls. Ensure the minimum insertion markings are inside the seat tube.
Before using the bike, always check that all latches, levers, and quick releases are properly secured and undamaged. Check them before every ride and after the bike is left unsupervised. Failure to do so may result in the handlebar stem and/or seatpost coming loose, causing loss of control, damage, injury, or death.
Adjusting the Suspension Fork:
The suspension fork can travel up to 80mm to cushion bumps, making riding on rough surfaces smoother. It can also be locked out for rigid fork efficiency.
- Lockout Lever (1): Located on the right side. Turn counterclockwise to lock travel. Turn clockwise to unlock. Resistance can be adjusted when unlocked.
- Preload Adjustment Knob (2): Located on the left side. Turn counterclockwise (towards "-") to soften the ride. Turn clockwise (towards "+") to make the suspension stiffer.

Daily Care and Maintenance
Cleaning and Storage:
Wipe bike body stains with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use toothpaste and a toothbrush, then wipe with a damp cloth.
Notes: Do not use alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or other corrosive solvents. Do not use high-pressure water spray. Ensure the bike is turned off, charging cable unplugged, and rubber flap closed during cleaning to prevent electric shock or damage. Store the bike indoors in a dry and cool place. Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, excessive sunlight, overheating, or overcooling, as these accelerate battery life.
Battery Maintenance:
- Use original Heybike battery packs.
- Do not touch battery contacts, dismantle, or puncture the casing. Keep contacts away from metal objects.
- Use the original power adapter to avoid damage or fire.
- Dispose of used batteries properly according to local regulations.
- Fully charge the battery after every use to prolong its lifespan.
Storage and Disposal:
- Store the bike in a cool, dry place (50°F - 77°F / 10°C - 25°C). Humid environments can cause condensation and damage the battery. Avoid prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain, and elements. Store indoors when not in use.
- Avoid recharging the bike only after the battery is completely exhausted. Charge the battery as soon as possible when low.
- Charge the bike every other month to preserve the battery.
