Vehicle Specific Installation Notes: Hyundai Tiburon (2000-Up)
Dashboard: Factory provisions include a 1" 2-hole tweeter. Aftermarket installations may require specific kits.
Antenna: The factory antenna is located on the top of the driver's side rear quarter panel.
Speaker Installation Details
Dash Speaker
Factory Provision: 1" tweeter mounted on the backside of the front pillar panel.
Front Door Speaker
Factory Provision: 6 1/2" speaker mounted in a factory speaker adapter.
Aftermarket Fitment: 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speakers require a speaker adapter. Recommended adapters: Scosche SAC656 or SAU56.
Installation Steps:
- Extract seven Phillips head screws from the door panel perimeter.
- Extract one Phillips head screw from the door opener cup and remove.
- Using a small pick, remove two plastic Phillips head screw covers from the door handle and extract two Phillips head screws from behind.
- Use a panel removal tool to remove the plastic side mirror triangle.
- Using a panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel perimeter, lift away, unplug, and remove.
- Extract four Phillips head screws from the speaker, disconnect, and remove.
Rear Deck Speaker
Factory Provision: 6 x 9" speaker mounted in the rear deck.
Aftermarket Fitment: 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" speakers require a speaker adapter. Recommended adapter: Scosche SA69.
Installation Steps:
- Unsnap grill using a panel tool from the top and remove.
- Extract four Phillips head screws from the speaker, disconnect, and remove.
Modification Key
- B: Back up plates required.
- C1: Cut trim/plastic (structure).
- C2: Cut steel.
- D: Below deck only.
- D1: Lift portion of deck (may require structural reinforcement).
- D2: Cut steel when top mounted; do not if below deck.
- D3: Narrow surface, below deck only.
- F2: Modify dash cavity and/or panel.
- K: Installation kit, spacer, or adapter required.
- K4: Fabricate panel/brackets.
- K5: When equipped with standard two shaft radio/tape player. Fabricate kit when equipped with flat face electronic radio/tape player.
- KS: Scosche kit recommended.
- N: Not recommended; extensive modification required.
- P: Perfect without modification.
- P1: Modify or remove pockets.
- P2: Coin pocket location in dash (may require trim kit).
- P3: Perfect when equipped with standard two shaft radio; K without.
- R: Rear load isomoount.
- U: Underdash.
- W1: With power windows only.
- W2: Without power windows only.
