Mounting the Radio
Radio Removal
Follow these steps to remove the existing radio from your vehicle:
- Pull down the glove box and remove it.
- Locate and release the climate control cable.
- On the driver's side, under the dash, locate and release the climate control cable.
- Carefully pry out the radio and climate control dash bezel, disconnect, and remove it from the dash.
- Remove the radio removal access panels on either side of the radio.
- Using two sets of radio removal tools (DT-1), release, disconnect, and remove the radio from the dash.
CAUTION: REAR SUPPORT AVAILABLE SEPARATELY. REAR SUPPORTING THE RADIO ADDS TO THE INSTALLATION'S STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY.
Diagram Description: The MA1537 Kit includes components for installation: an ISO MOUNT RADIO bracket, a TRIM RING, a REAR SUPPORT bracket, and a POCKET. The diagram also indicates to BEND TABS OUTWARD on certain components during installation.

1998-03 MAZDA 626 Radio Removal
NOTE: The factory radio provision is a DIN radio.
- Carefully remove plastic covers on the radio sides.
- Using two sets of radio removal tools (DT-1), release, disconnect, and remove the radio from the dash.
1995-03 MAZDA MILLENIA Radio Removal
NOTE: The factory radio provision is a DIN radio.
- Carefully remove plastic covers on the radio sides.
- Use Scosche DT-1 DIN removal tools to release the radio, lift away, disconnect, and remove it.
1999-03 MAZDA PROTÉGÉ Radio Removal
NOTE: The factory radio provision is a DIN radio.
- Carefully remove plastic covers on the radio sides.
- Use Scosche DT-1 DIN removal tools to release the radio, lift away, disconnect, and remove it.
2002-03 MAZDA PROTÉGÉ 5 Radio Removal
NOTE: The factory radio provision is a DIN sized radio.
- Pull the glove box down and remove it, disconnecting the climate control cable from the lever.
- Disconnect the climate control cable on the driver's side under the dash, above the gas pedal.
- Remove the radio's end caps.
- Insert two sets of Ford DIN removal tools to release the clips, pull the radio out, disconnect, and remove it. (Scosche DT-1 Ford DIN removal tools are recommended).

A TEST LIGHT OR GROUNDED WIRE PROBE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER AND/OR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS. AVOID ALL FACTORY AIR BAG WIRING - AIR BAGS CAN ACCIDENTALLY DEPLOY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
